The 'bigger brother' to the Aratech AM-10, the AM-25 serves as the standard issue Anti-materiel rifle of the Republic Army. A heavy, hard-hitting weapon designed to engage hard targets; specifically vehicles and non-personnel assets the enemy may bring to bear, such as artillery pieces or surveillance equipment. Adaptable, however, the AM-25 can certainly engage soft targets where necessary, bringing enough firepower to dominate all forms of personal body armor. Like its little brother, the AM-25 is a slugthrower, and can thus change load to specialist rounds where necessary.
Effective to nearly two kilometers, the AM-25 can punch holes in its target from ranges beyond most conventional means of counter-engagement, and its nature as a slug-thrower means its mind-boggling 13mm-wide round is far harder to track than a blaster bolt; leaving the sniper safer and hidden for longer. Paired with a high-powered variable-zoom scope, the AM-25 lets the Republic's boys see and hit their target long before their target can hit back.
The AM-25 is not without its shortcomings; it is a heavy beast and difficult to carry for extended periods of time due to its lack of a carrying strap. Whilst highly accurate, its nature in targeting larger objects such as troop-transports and fixed artillery means it is less precise than the AM-10; it can certainly hit a man-sized target at two kilometers but it takes an extreme level of precision to do so, and it's not what the weapon was designed for.
In short, the pairing of the AM-10 and the AM-25 give the Republic's snipers the choice they need, depending on mission profiles, in just what they need to deliver the precision-punch that will keep the enemy down, and with the AM-25, no vehicle is safe either.
