Stealth suite
Description/role:
Outwardly Songbird differs very little from the baseline XS light freighter model. The only visible differences that indicate that Songbird has undergone any modifications are the additional weapons and an external sensor disc. However, the internal systems have undergone extensive modifications to meet the requirements of its current owner.
Most of the hidden cargo compartments built by the ships previous owner are filled with additional sensor, comm and navigation systems and the actual cargo hold's capacity has been cut down somewhat to make room for a beefier shield generator and some additional defense systems. The engines have undergone a large overhaul designed to increase sub-light speeds. As a result Songbird faster than the average light freighter.

Another day, another XS freighter, eh? - Do me a few small favors? Clarify the blaster cannons as “light” and scrub the missile launchers.
- The custom anti-missile suite I get, but why the buoys? The only reason I can think of to have fake distress signals is to lure people into traps, and a freighter isn’t exactly a great ship to launch ambushes with.
- Same to you, if you could just scrub the stats, I’d appreciate it. Deleting is easier than correcting.
- Also, bump.

-Laser cannons clarified as light, however, since the baseline model has missile launchers, as mentioned by the mighty Wookiepedia, I don't see why removing the missile launchers is necessary. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/XS_stock_light_freighter- The buoys ability to mimic distant distress signal can be used as a distraction as well. Lets say that you want to sneak past a law-enforcement patrol ship you know is in a spot X, like a planets orbit. You drop out of hyperspace outside their sensor range, drop the buoy, activate it and jump to another spot. Once the patrol ship is investigating the signal source you can slip past them more easily. -Stats have been scrubbed.

- The wiki likes to change with the seasons, but alright, you can keep the missiles then.
- If we're talking smuggling/getting past the cops/etc. , why not just install a stealth suite? Most authorities sport equipment to detect hyperspace jumps and trails via emitted gamma rays (some of the very little science lore SW has, even if it's just made up for story purposes). Stealth suites keep the ship from emitting those gamma rays until the coast is clear. Ergo, all you'd need to do is jump in with the stealth suite active, avoid radar (which stealth suites also do), and not be physically seen (easy enough to do in the grand expanse of space).
In short, the buoys are still viable, but they leave the possibility of being followed open. If you used them in conjunction with the stealth drive, they'd be a bit more effective, albeit... well, a bit unnecessary. I leave that decision to you though.

I'd be happy to have a stealth capability, but I thought those were restricted tech.

We have "cloaking devices" under restricted tech, which differ from stealth suites in that they make ships outright invisible to the naked eye. Stealth suites only hide you from electronic detection; if someone looks out their window and you're within their visibility, they'll still see you flying by.
So stealth suites good, cloaking devices bad. You're kosher to have the former, not the latter.

Ok. Added a stealth suite and I'm keeping the buoys.
