Description:
Considered the 'ryshcate' to the 'whiskey' that is the Aratech AM-10 and AM-25 sniper rifles, the AM-08 is an older model blaster rifle that has become something of a favourite for the Republic Army's snipers as a spotter's weapon; suitable for the shorter-range conflicts that a long range rifle cannot adequately handle, be it for scouting ahead, or providing area security for a sniping position.
Initially a weapon designed for tactical intervention teams within the Republic Law Enforcement wing, this moderately sized blaster rifle is small enough to handle room-to-room and corridor battles, but powerful enough to ensure whatever it hits, it drops. Featuring a high-capacitance chamber and a broad power cell 'magazine' to draw from, the AM-08 has solid stopping power, but with a long barrel and multi-stage focusing chamber, brings accuracy to the table as well.
This pairing of power and accuracy gives the AM-08 flexibility; it can serve the role of a marksman's rifle quite steadily at moderate distance, but is likewise capable of sweeping down a room with sustained fire. It's no surprise, then, that the weapon features a variable fire toggle between semi-automatic and full-automatic modes; allowing a user to fill whatever role necessary to complete the tasks set before them.
However, flexibility does come at a cost; the AM-08 is a jack of trades but master of little. Its firing rate in full automatic is average, and whilst powerful enough to put down most targets it comes across, eats power packs relatively quickly. However, with these aside, there's little the AM-08 cannot reasonably answer, giving it a reputation for being a reliable choice where variability is key.
