There was perhaps no better example of the sheer wealth centralised on Coruscant, no greater a showing of its enjoyment of the aesthetics, than the shoreline of the Great Western Sea. The only natural body of water remaining on the city-planet, the beach had become an ideal tourist destination the galaxy over and, naturally, rarely saw a day without thousands of varied species coming to enjoy its carefully controlled warmth. Pristine, ivory sand stretched for seemingly miles in either direction, fine and almost powdery in its texture, and under the rays of the sun above seemed to glow as it reflected the light. Crystalline waters, too, only furthered the image of a tropical shoreline as waves crashed onto the sands and receded out in invitation to stroll out and enjoy the refreshing spray.
There was rarely a day that went by that tourists in their thousands came to enjoy the calming environment and ideal weather, to spend some credits on the many kiosks lining the walkways to the rear of the shore. Between themed open-air restaurants to sweets kiosks to rental shops for a myriad of water craft, there were plenty of ways to part with credits, but it didn't take a full wallet to enjoy the scenery, either. Past the meagre entry fee, aybody was welcome to come and share the views, to swim, to rest and unwind; Senators, legislators, merchants, pilots, and all in-between could be found if one spent enough time wandering.
And it wasn't as if even the esteemed, austere Jedi were above having a bit of indulgence, either.
As another wave tumbled across the sands, Fenn Soran felt himself ever so carefully begin to slip out of reality. Just a moment's worth of resting the eyes had turned into minutes of uninterrupted semi-consciousness; partway between sleep and the walking world. Indeed, it was the faint snort of a gagged snore that caught the Bothan's attention enough to 'wake' him, causing the youth's eyes to shoot open and jolt him with a start.
"I'm up, I'm up."He muttered, moreso out of reactionary defence rather than intentionally so, allowing himself to blink as his eyes adjusted to the influx of light. Behind the tinged black lenses of sunglasses, the Coruscant sun's rays were hardly as harsh as they could have been, but it was still enough for the Jedi to wince for a second or so on finding the glowing ball in the sky.
Propping himself up on his elbows, feeling the soft sand shift beneath the red-coloured towel separating his fur from it, the Knight-to-be took in what was going on around him; a wry smile crossing the young man's face. It had been a good call to agree to this, he thought idly, watching as another wave splashed down onto the surface as his eyes tracked a couple of figures bobbing in the water. Several Jedi had been keen to take a break from the Temple and unwind, leaving an open invite to any of the Order willing to do the same.
Initially hesitant, Fenn had found himself unable to really find a suitable reason why not to go, and whilst whilst the Jedi were sworn to serve the Republic first and foremost, a little relaxation time was surely not that far out of the question, right? It had been a slippery slope from there; soon it became almost comically easy to find reasons to go and even persuade others. Stresses and exhaustions, after all, were serious medical problems, and if one or two of the padawans that had come under his care for lightsaber burns and bruises had maybe been proscribed some rest time, well, that was just preventative measures.
It had been perhaps one of the best decisions the Bothan had ever made, he thought with an ever growing smirk, as he stretched his back against the towel. Gone were the stuffy robes in favour of a pair of knee-long blue shorts. Abandoned were the long brown boots, left behind in the Temple along with his belt, medical kit and lightsaber; instead, the only equipment that were called for on this mission was a tube of zinc sunscreen, towel, a pair of shades and a credit chit, loaded with enough currency to pick up a few cool drinks.
After all, what day on the beach wasn't complete without an ice-cold citrus fizz fresh from the carbonator?
"Alright, I'm gonna get up before I pass out for good. Hey, if you're staying here, make sure nobody tries to make off with my towel, yeah?" Fenn asked, turning his head to the right to acknowledge one of the Jedi he'd come along with, a Talz apprentice only a few feet away, whose sleepy grunt seemed to suggest somewhere between an acknowledgement and a dismissal. The Bothan could only chuckle, pulling the sunglasses from his face before standing up and making his way down to the water; dusting down what bits of bed-fur had begun to develop during his reverie.
