Meira Valli Full Name • Meira Valli Race • Kiffar Birthplace • Kiffu Age • 31 Gender • Female Sexuality • heterosexual... but probably more asexual Faction • Jedi Concept • Jedi Master, Consular turned Guardian... not particularly pleased about it. Languages • Basic. With concentration, she can understand many. Appearance Face Claim • Hannah John-Kamen Height & Weight • 5'5" 130 Overall Looks • Meira, slim and toned, had once still had the roundness of youth in her figure. No more. Seven years of conflict has hardened her. Gentle curves have given way to hard angles of muscle and sharp, light scars mar her copper skin. Where she used to keep her dark, near black hair in a neat bun at the back of her head, Meira now wears it long and loose. Some parts braided, other parts forming into dreadlocks. Her green eyes are still prominent, but now stare with a more calculated vigilance. The black band tattoo, that runs from the crescents on the backs of her hands, up her arms and neck, behind her ears and across her eyelids stands as dark and contrasted against her skin as ever. Meira leans toward the practical in her clothing, preferring close fitted, flexible cloths and leather. She finds the long, loose sleeves of typical Jedi robes to get in the way more often than not, and so usually prefers sleeveless variants. It is more common now to see her with light armor that protects her core, forearms, and shins, but still allows her the freedom of movement needed to get the job done. Beneath her knee-high leather boots, Meira's left leg ends just below the knee. A port, all metal and wires, connects here. It is attached to the skin, muscle, nerves, and even bone so as to provide a seamless connection with the prosthetic that she wears. The prosthetic is not flashy. It is smooth lines and molded to match her other leg as close as possible. It's only customization is a compartment along the back of the calf which can be used to conceal her lightsaber, should she need to. Personality Profile Meira has always been somewhat introverted. She is not lacking in social ability, but has always been a quiet and reflective soul. She is the kind to listen more than speak, and often defers to others, not from timidity, but from courtesy. A quiet optimist, Meira tends to seek the good in others and often gives the benefit of the doubt. In her younger years, this made her quite naive, but Meira has learned to temper foolishness with age. All her life, Meira took to the Jedi code easily, and has only recently found herself truly tested in the tenants of the Order. The war with the Sith Empire has forced her to recognize the grey areas of morality, in the galaxy and also within herself. The past seven years have hardened Meira's spirit as they have her body. She is less likely to trust new acquaintances, and sometimes finds forgiveness harder to grant. Hardship has taught her that detachment cannot always prevent the sorrow of loss, nor can it stop the nightmares and regrets. Nevertheless, her resolve remains and she is very much a Jedi through and through. Background Father • Terum Valli, deceased, Former Valli clan leader Mother • Somi Valli, deceased Siblings • Kaven Valli, [age], Sith Military Other Important Connections • Evos Valli, deceased, former Master Vreem Took, [age], Jedi Master and mentor Jaidan Shatani, [age], Jedi Master (?) and friend Jessoin Zarander, [age], Sith Lord and very much NOT a friend Overall History • Meira was born to the Valli family clan on Kiffu. Her clan is small compared to the others, but like the others, is very close knit. It was discovered when she was very young that she possessed the fairly rare gift of psychometry, the ability to read the memories of inanimate objects, by her uncle Evos Valli. Evos also had this ability and was a Jedi who had returned home to visit his clan. Evos ran a few tests and found Meira to be force sensitive. With a great deal of persuasion, Evos convinced the clan elders to allow him to take Meria to the Jedi Academy to be trained in the ways of the force. As a youngling, Meira was a quiet and introspective pupil. She learned quickly to quiet her mind and listen to the force. Her outward expressions, such as combat, lagged slightly, but were not poor. Her uncle would look in on her from time to time, when he was at the temple, checking on her progress and even spent time with her, sharing stories and traditions of their people. Though he was often questioned on this, Evos insisted that the Kiffar were deeply rooted in family and ancestry, and that a knowledge of her history would boost Meira's confidence. And it did. By ten, Meira seemed more lively and comfortable, soon catching up in saber combat skills and even surpassing many other younglings in unarmed combat. This, along with her continued strengths in introspection and meditation impressed her instructors. Around her twelfth birthday, Evos returned to the academy and announced that he would take Meira as his Padawan, again stirring up some of the Jedi masters. Eventually he would have his way, again relying on the traditions of the Kiffar to support his argument. Under the teachings of her uncle, Meira flourished. Aside from continuing her education in the Shii-Cho form, Evos also began Meira's instruction of the Soresu form. Meira took to the defensive and calm form quickly, as it easily fit with her personality. She constructed her lightsaber, taking two months to complete it. Evos teased her for it, but Meira refused to move too fast. As a reward for such diligent work, Evos offered Meira a rare purple crystal that he had found in the caves on Dantooine many years prior. He had told her he felt it call to him, but not for his own blade. It wasn't until this time that he realized that the Force had led him to guard and infuse the crystal until Meira was ready.Meira accepted the crystal with great awe and meditated with it for many days until it felt right. She then added it to her lightsaber as the finishing touch. The result was perfect match to her personality and style. By age 15, Meira returned to Kiffu for the first time since she had been taken away. Her clan rejoiced in the return and bestowed Meira with their traditional tattoos. Meira enjoyed the time she spent with her clan, but did not despair when she and Evos were called to leave. The next six years guided Evos and Meira across the galaxy where they mediated over contract disputes between between the banking corporations on Aargau, escorted nobles through hostile space, and most recently aided in a Saurin revolt against a totalitarian General Zhut on Durkteel. Though the revolt was a success, Evos was terribly injured in the battle. Meira managed to bring Evos back to Kiffu, where he died among their clan. Meira constructed his funeral pyre and allowed his body to burn. The clan collected the ashes and constructed a small memorial to him where they are kept. Meira returned to the Jedi temple to relate the news of Evos' death. Though she was close to acceptable age for Knighthood, the council determined that she had not passed all aspects of the trials. The trials of Courage and Flesh had been deemed passed through the reports of the battles on Durkteel and the death of Evos, but the trials of Skill and Spirit still remained. As a means to determine her readiness to move up among the Jedi ranks. Meira was sent on a mission to help settle a civil uprising on the matriarchal planet of Devaron. Master Vreem Took was also sent on this mission to observe Meira and then report back to the council. After her knighthood, Meira found herself swept into the early events of a war that would change the galaxy entirely. While the Sith grew in power, the Jedi found themselves divided on the aspect of joining into another galactic conflict. with the memory or Revan still on the collective minds of the Order, it was a hard decision to make. Master Took eventually spearheaded the efforts to join the Republic in the war, and the Blades of the Order were formed. Meira,at the time, was unable to follow her mentor so easily into battle. She believed that the Council had made the right decision to remain in a support role, rather than rush to the front lines. In the end, it didn't matter. The Sith and their Empire proved willing to stop at nothing. The horror they unleashed on Taris was proof enough to cause Meira, along with the Jedi as a whole, to enter into the war. The years that followed brought Meira little happiness. She has struggled in her efforts to support the Republic in such a direct and bloody fashion. Age and war have made their marks on her, and she knows that she will never be the same. Now with the rank of Master -one she believes granted more out of necessity on the Council's part than her own worthiness- Meira is a dutiful servant of the Order, dispatching where ordered and completing her missions. She carries this burden in hopes that it shields others from having to take it up. Her hope is that one day it will all be for something. |
