General Horst Stellar Full Name • Horst Albert Stellar Race • Human Birthplace • Corellia Age • 48 Gender • Male Sexuality • Hetero Faction • Republic Concept • Republic General with a career of diehard patriotism Languages • Basic, Mando'a Assets • A small tenement on Corellia currently being rented out to Onderoni refugees Appearance Face Claim • Ron Pearlman Height & Weight • 5' 10", 218 lbs. Overall Looks • Horst has been described as many things, but "beautiful" has never been one of them. Devoid of popular style and rough on the eyes, the man looks like life has been chewing him up since birth and spat him out minutes before any given discussion. Scars of every size, shape, and length mar his skin like blemishes, all buried under thick layers of coarse gray hairs. Rough skin begins to wrinkle on a tough face, Horst's blue eyes more often than not demanding in their gaze. A large mouth makes his expressions apparent, ranging from unamused frowns to jovial smiles. In terms of fashion, if it isn't armor or a uniform, Horst usually only bothers with simple shirts, tough pants, and sturdy boots. His general uniform strikes a better-kept tone, usually inspiring the man to shave down to a fine stubble and keep his hair cut short in a classic military buzzcut. A green jacket sporting his stars matches his pants, completed by a cap when the general can be bothered to wear it. His armor, on the other hand, proves to be heavy as they come, leaving only his joints uncovered in plates of some kind. Personality Profile Horst is brutally honest, both to his detriment and benefit. Speaking his mind blatantly since childhood, the general is never one to mince words or indulge in fluff. This comes out in his rough Coronet City accent in a rougher, graveled voice, neither making his grumbling tones any softer. Only putting up with the barest amounts of platitudes and formalities, Horst proves a curt conversationalist, getting to the point in no time. This can make the old soldier seem gruff and grumpy in his norm, but in truth only paints half the picture. Horst proves to be as loving as they come to his soldiers and friends, almost always referring to people by nicknames instead of their actual titles. Quick to laugh and bellowing when he does, Horst's honesty can grow friendships just as quickly as it can prevent them, often polarizing people he meets quickly. To those that enjoy it, the man is warm, caring, and often quite empathetic. To those that don't, Horst proves stubborn, loud-mouthed, and at times, downright insufferable. Background Father • Draven Stellar, deceased Mother • Angela LeFroa, deceased Siblings • None Other Important Connections • Pfffffft. Overall History • Born to Angela LeFroa, the daughter of a local mobster, and Draven Stellar, a smalltime bruiser, Horst only spent a matter of days with his parents. Native to the Blue Sector of Coronet City, his parents left him with Draven's uncle, Rorick "Rorry" Stellar. While both parents faced consequences from the mob leading to their death, the child was left alone thanks to Rorry's protection. Giving the boy his father's last name, Rorry decided to name him "Horst" after his grandfather. Growing up in the Blue Sector proved to be a tough, if not loving, life. Prone to trouble at a young age, Horst proved a poor student, oft to pick fights and start trouble. Despite some heavy-handed parenting by his uncle, the two grew inseparable as Horst grew into a teenager, the older man's stubborn attitude and rough quirks rubbing off on his nephew. Horst, in turn, made fast friends with other kids in the neighborhood with similarly rough lives, including his best friend Geog. Days were spent playing stickball in the street, tripping their way through the Blue Sector's less-than-excellent public school system, and come their teenage years, modifying and building speeders. The lattermost came as a consequence of Rorry's business, a small local repair shop, in which Horst worked after school and quickly learned his way around machines. Only just managing to graduate high school, Horst held no plans for college, content to work in his aging uncle's shop and stay local to the neighborhood he'd grown to love. Geog, however, proved dissatisfied, speaking increasingly of joining the military. To everyone's surprise, this decision was supported by Rorry, who had been a career soldier with the Corellian sector fleet prior to his retirement. Encouraged, Geog left for basic training, returning months later with excited tales of his fellow troops and his first assignment. Listening to both his uncle and his best friend's passion, Horst couldn't help but wonder more and more if his chosen path paled in comparison. Finally, he broke down; a year after Geog's enlistment, Horst followed suit. Bootcamp proved natural for the new cadet, who proved to be a natural leader wielding brute honesty. Rising through the enlisted ranks over his first few years of service, Horst was further encouraged by his uncle and friend to pursue officer's school, facing his aversion to education all over again. Still, this time he managed, proving to absorb tactics and military history far better than the academia of his youth. His first assignment as an officer was to the under performing Ackley's Maw; a battalion of dissident soldiers known for their disorganization and lack of morale stationed on the former Mandalorian world of Onderon. It took the better part of three years, but in time, Horst whipped them into one of the Republic's finest general infantry battalions, outperforming their peers across the board. With a distinguished command history and officer education, Horst was finally offered a role in Republic Special Forces. His decision was obvious; Geog's unit, the Republic Navy 925th Special Demolitions and Strike Division, more affectionately known as "The Urban Rancors". Assuming command, Horst made fast friends with the unit, rekindling his friendship with Giog in the process. Together, the Rancors spent years attacking pirate bases and eliminating terrorist groups. In a particularly botched mission, however, the Rancors found themselves at a loss. What had been a typical assignment quickly ended with the declaration of war by the Sith Empire, causing the far-flung unit to be attacked unexpectedly by an Imperial battalion. Among the many dead was Giog, rattling Horst to his core after a close escape. Finding himself unable to cope with the loss of his friend and most of his unit, he failed to renew his service for another tour, handing in his tags. With time, Horst's hatred of the Sith became unbearable. Still unable to return to the service, he found himself swept up in a plot to privately attack Sith positions through a Republic-backing pirate group known as Spearpoint. Funded by a small ship company and based on a remote moon, the faction proved short-lived, making two successful strikes into Sith space before finally drawing the ire of the Imperial fleets. The pirates dispersed before their enemies arrived to take the moon, only adding to Horst's frustration. Convinced that the Republic was the only force in the galaxy that could curb the ever-growing Empire, Horst re-enlisted. With the losses the Republic was incurring, and with a minor pardon for what had technically been an illegal pirate group (given that they had never bothered Republic space, few actually cared), Horst was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General following a few months of service reminding the army of his worth. As the war wore on, Horst would find himself commanding troops in the defense of Coruscant, proving particularly indispensable in the defense of the Senate. Following the Republic's victory and the subsequent peace talks, Horst was promoted to a formal General, given command of armies defending worlds along the newly-drawn Imperial border. |
