Appearance Face Claim •Kimiko Glenn Height & Weight • 5'5, 165lbs Overall Looks • Hovering somewhere between average height and being short, Moonfire is not an imposing figure at first glance. Built solidly, her figure is decidedly pear-shaped beneath her flowing robes and usual penchant for cool colors. Long, well cared for dark hair lands at her mid-back when unrestrained by the ornamentation and braiding she uses to keep it up and away from her gold-toned face. Dark brows frame angled eyes of bright blue, complimenting her rounded cheekbones and flat nose. A small scar cuts through her left-eyebrow, pale and silvered from adolescent mishaps. Personality Profile Personable and earnest, Moonfire is a friendly and amiable soul to a fault. In her personal life, what little of it a Jedi can have, she is polite and sometimes over-eager though tends to be quiet around new people until she can find common ground, bubbling with energy as soon as one of her many interests is brought up. Considerate and compassionate, Moonfire still feels much of the anxiety that shook her as a youngster, but has learned to channel those feelings into rambling conversation with trusted allies and her variety of side projects. Artemis had been born on Coruscant to a suffocatingly political family and was desperate to escape to quieter edges of Republic space away from the constant intrigue and scrutiny of his relations, his interest in archaelogy and botany quickly finding him a fellowship on the small world of Ruusan underneath a prominent professor. Four months into digging through old vases to find ancient seeds in Jedi ruins Artemis met Anaye, a quirky trader who serviced the small colony world with imported goods. Six weeks later, to the Shae family's horror, Artemis and Anaye were married in a private ceremony in the Valley of the Jedi with a few close friends and quiet handwritten vows. Within a year their first child was born a dark haired little thing, who much to the Shae's continued horror, was named Moonfire. Space hippies, what're ya gonna do? Moonfire's childhood was fairly privileged for a colony child, idyllic in many respects. Two loving parents, her father completing his degree program to devote himself entirely to the research of historic plants on Ruusan, her mother's trading business becoming the primary income for the family, if pressed Moonfire wouldn't be able to pinpoint a single negative about the brief time she lived with her parents. One child became two with the birth of her brother Skywise, a nuisance and bestfriend all in one, an association while short lived became a defining, wistful moment in her life. The course of Moonfire's life, like all jedi, came with the meeting of a Jedi. Master Si Quan was visiting the small planet on a brief mission and encountered the girl at one of her father's dig sites. Accompanied by her extremely pregnant mother and younger brother, Moonfire, 5, was more than excited to meet the pleasant man. Si Quan, who spent most of his Jedi career has a youngling instructor, entertained the girl for much of his visit with lessons and stories. Seeing potential in the force and the young girl's earnest heart, he explained to Artemis and Anaye the sort of life Moonfire could lead as a member of the Order, though she'd have to leave her family and all attachments behind. Artemis, Anaye and Moonfire decided after several serious talks to allow Moonfire the opportunity to become a Jedi. They accompanied her as far as the journey to Coruscant would allow and at the Temple gates said goodbye. Artemis and Anaye went on to have several more boys, though they always sought any information possible on their daughter. Moonfire, under the tutelage of Si Quan, was a nervous and mousey youngling, riddled with anxiety that carried well into her Padawan years. She'd never socialized much with other children and found so far away from the comforts of home a difficult adjustment. An unfamiliar shyness stifled her interactions with others. Her lightsaber skills were fumbling, her meditations frequently interrupted and her sparring abysmal even five years into training. Yet Si Quan never once gave up or despaired as the other younglings far exceeded Moonfire in demonstrations of skills by the age of ten. She wasn't a bad student, no, simply any amount of unnecessary attention caused the girl to freeze up. Simple careless mistakes would destroy her confidence, leaving her flustered and ineffective in formal practicum. In private sessions the dark haired girl would prove herself an eager and thoughtful scholar, if a bit oversensitive and occasionally uncoordinated. In this time Moonfire made a few close and talented friends, one of which being Kyo Sartori, a boy from Dantooine who she admired deeply. When it came time for padawan assignments it was recommended that Moonfire be transferred to the Jedi Service Corps, deemed by many to be a poor fit for Padawan training. Only after the intervention of Si Quan, now a Jedi Council Member, and the volunteer of Master Sish Balkk the former Watchman of Trandosha to take her under his wing. An unlikely but well matched pairing, the human girl and trandoshan found a common love of tea and reading, something which worked well for the master's teaching style. Believing in a rounded, galactic education, Balkk and Moonfire traveled away from her home on Coruscant on a variety of diplomatic missions that took them across Republic space and into independent systems. Along the way the pair took in a young force sensitive zabrak boy of similar age, Shorza Triz, who became a sort of unofficial apprentice to Balkk and rival for Moonfire. The two children quickly forged an intense, if mostly one-sided rivalry. Moonfire craved her peer's company and friendship while Shorza, jaded by a far more difficult life, resented the girl's kindness and weakness of will. While antagonistic at first, Shorza and Moonfire built up one another's strengths and challenged their weaknesses, complimenting one another well. Where Moonfire struggled in lightsaber combat and with her crippling anxiety, Shorza was a natural and confident duelist. Moonfire's natural aptitude for solving puzzles and her usage of the force inspired much ire in the untrained boy. As much as they learned from Balkk they also learned from one another. By seventeen, Moonfire and Shorza considered one another friends and the closest thing either truly had to family as they explored the galaxy on Balkk's ship. It was during this time Moonfire's only real friend from youngling training, Kyo Sartori, went missing, though as tensions with the Sith Aristocracy came to a head and war began, missing Jedi were commonplace. She mourned her friend, meditating often on thoughts of him. In time Moonfire grew into capable, though sometimes self-depreciating, young woman. By the end of her Padawan years, now several years into the fragile cease fire, she'd dipped into many aspects of the Jedi Order and found herself drawn to becoming a Jedi Watchman. While the war between the Empire and the Republic was at a fragile peace, Moonfire wanted more than anything to help keep harmonious relationships between the Jedi and the galaxy at large. Such aspirations changed when Kyo Sartori was discovered catatonic on Si Quan's ship, piloted only by the ship's droids. Si Quan, having taken his newest Padawan to investigate a lead on Kyo, was found killed in battle with Dark Jedi on a landing pad on Corellia. Video from the landing pad showed two figures locked in combat with the High Councilman and his padawan, blurry and indistinct. Kyo was transferred to an outpost of Jedi healers on Ruusan, unresponsive and suffering from the effects of years of dark force tampering with his mind. This series of events set in motion the decision to become a Jedi Investigator, where Moonfire now quietly sets her sights on solving the murder of Jedi Master Si Quan, the disappearance of his apprentice Aryana, and what happened to Kyo Sartori. Still too young and perhaps too personally involved to formally take on the case, she has been assigned to the much more experience Locke Nemsee after proving herself a capable detective with Coruscant security's lighter cases. |
