Her brown hair is long and tightly curled. She often keeps it tied back, with a myriad of braids to keep it out of her face. Her eyes are dark brown, nearly black and peer out from a face that still seems to hold the roundness of youth. She can often be seen with patterns painted onto her face, usually in white to stand out against her caramel colored skin. She has faint, jagged scarring across her throat. Eris' beskar'gam consists of a light grey undersuit covered in white armor plating and gold accents. She often wears a brilliant blue half cape with the Tal'galaar emblem on it. When not in full beskar'gam, Eris wears utilitarian clothing that still seems to carry an armor-like aesthetic. Personality Profile Eris is a generally a quiet person. This is because of her damaged vocal cords. When she does speak, her voice sounds dry, scratchy, and hollow. She prefers to use sign language to communicate. Because not everyone knows how to read her signs, Eris tends toward gestures, body language and written communication. This, along with her personality in general, has made her a very blunt, yet fairly patient person. Eris has learned the art of using her silence to her advantage. Having spent her early years in slavery, Eris is no longer intimidated by posturing and threats. The scariest people were the ones that followed through on threats, and the Mandalore destroyed them. What should she have to fear? And so Eris takes advantage of the way her voice puts others off balance. Couple that with her training as Tal'galaar and most see her as a mystical creature rather than a mere flesh and blood human. Eris, though not born a Mandalorian, is a die hard follower of her adopted culture's way of life, and of Mandalore the Regulator in particular. Background Father • Human slave, name and age unknown to Eris Mother • Human slave, name and age unknown to Eris Siblings • Unknown to Eris Other Important Connections • Petrus Cin, 74, retired farmer, adopted father Magda Cin, 76, medicine woman, adopted mother Thorben Cin, 45, farmer, adopted brother Ruuth Cin, 45, carpenter, adopted sister-in-law, Thorben's wife Throben and Ruuth's children Overall History • When Eris was born, she was taken away from her birth mother. The pregnancy had not been one planned by the woman's Zygerrian masters, and so the woman was likely punished. Eris would never know her name, though she believes she sometimes dreams of her face. She was raised in what amounted to a litter of forcibly orphaned slaves. Among them, she was the smallest, and so was called Runt for the first several years of her life. In spite of the name, she Eris proved to be a spirited and scrappy child. Unfit for more docile slave tasks, she was eventually sold to a slaver team that specialized in rearing fighting slaves. Her treatment under her new masters was cruel. She received beatings at seemingly random intervals. She was forced to compete for food with her fellow slaves. She was made to believe she was never safe, that she should always be on her guard. It was during this time that Eris also was injured by a malfunctioning slave collar. the shock function of the collar shorted out, causing the collar to deliver a continuous shock across Eri's throat. By the time the thing was deactivated and removed, Eris had been badly burned and scarred. Medical droids had repaired her so that she could breathe and eat, but the masters did not bother fixing her vocal cords. When she fully healed, Eris was left unable to speak clearly, her voice sounding dry and strained as anything above a whisper. She was only subjected to this hell for a few years, however. When her masters put her onto a ship, bound for her next owners, they did not know that what they were actually doing was delivering her into her freedom. The slavers had been using a route that brought them through Mandalorian space, sure that the backwaters of the culled culture would not be patrolled as thoroughly by a Republic more concerned by a growing Imperial threat in the outer rims. They had not expected to be ambushed by the Mandalorians themselves. The ship was overrun and the masters all struck down by a number of beings clad in armor unlike anything she'd ever seen before. as their cages were opened, one massive figure in blue armor splashed with gold lifted the small girl from where she'd huddled into a corner. "Ne chabaar." he'd said to her as he carried the child out of the ship and into the light of a new world. She did not know what those words meant at the time, but they would soon be etched onto her heart forever. Don't be afraid. The world, she would discover, was called Mandalore. She, along with the other slaves, was quickly taken in by the people living there. She did not understand their language, nor did she understand why they did not cage her and the others. The girl, only ten years old, had spent her decade of life knowing only brutality from others. It would take several more years before she learned to trust. Those years were spent with the Cin family. Petrus and Magda lived on their large farming estate in the quiet countryside. When news of the slaver ship and the newly freed people reached them, Petrus and Magda journeyed to town to help out. They'd already raised their own son, Thorben, into a fine Mandalorian man. They felt called to help others find their place among their people and to live their lives according to the Resol'nare. When they found the small girl, they adopted her on the spot. Petrus and Magda were careful and gentle with the girl. It took some time to gain her trust. She ran away from them and their home several times. Each time, one of them would track her. When she became too hungry, too cold, too wet from the rain, or just too tired, they would guide her back home again. Eventually, she stopped running. The Cin family helped her to choose the name Eris, taught her their language and their ways. She would grow up with Thorben's own children, helping the family with planting and harvesting. She learned a sign language that she could use so as not to always strain her damaged vocal cords. Thorben taught her how to play the bes'bev and Eris took to it quickly. In a family that enjoyed music and singing, Eris was able to contribute with the instrument in a way that she could not with her damaged voice. And from Magda, Eris learned medicine and mysticism. She taught Eris the old ways of herbs and ointments, as well as the new and modern methods. With Magda's guidance, Eris learned to augment her dreams and to enter into trances with the use of special plants. She began to have visions, though they were muddled and confused. The first thing to pierce clearly through the strange fog, however, was the image of a massive being clad in golden armor. Mandalore. She knew it was him. The one who had saved her. But when the wars broke out, he was not the Mandalore. Eris, eager to prove she lived by the Resol'nare, took up the armor her family had helped her create, and answered the call. Her visions of the golden one continued, and it took some time before she realized that she had been seeing farther into the future than she thought. She finally found him again, learning that he was called Dral’tranyc Bralor. But he was one of the elites, an Ori’ramikade. She would have to prove herself if she were to ever get close enough to him to share her vision. Eris fought hard and valiantly in the wars, distinguishing herself in every battle. She was a beast. A flying terror against her enemies. Where she had first been called Eris Cin, she soon gained the notoriety among her clan to be given the Eldar name. Her silence and her way with herbs created a mysticism around the woman, hearkening to ancient times when war shamans blessed the troops and prophesied their victories. Soon, Eris Eldar began to be called Tal'galaar, blood-hawk. Her notoriety finally spread enough that Eris was able to meet the man that saved her all those years ago. To tell him how she was no longer afraid. That was when their Mandalore was slain in her sleep. In the chaos and outrage that followed, Eris saw clearly. This was the time of her vision. This was when the Golden Mandalore would rise out of the ashes and raise their people up with him. She joined the efforts in promoting Dral'tranyc as the obvious choice to succeed as Mandalore. When he was chosen, Eris began her own campaign to put herself at the man's right hand. |
