Her hair has been styled in a long collection of dirty blonde dreadlocks for ease of style, brushing her naturally curly mane proved too much of a hassle when one had buildings to break into and message boards to manage. Her face remains free of any make up, though a few small scars from falling from great heights litter her figure. Sheer clothes dark colors in ample layers make up the majority of her wardrobe, ornamented with a few pieces of industrial accessory. A small, slim ring of silver dangles from her septum, jostling lightly in moment of high stress or animated conversation. Fairly petite, Qiki strikes an imposing figure from sheer force of personality. A daring and vocal soul the young woman frequently supplements her short height with platformed boots. Personality Profile Both on the holonet and off, Qiki remains consistent. She's a quick talking, snarky troll who loves to get a rise out of people. Life is short, money is easy and why spend all her time being so fucking serious? When she's not doing things for the laughs, Qiki enjoys shitty datapad games and radio shows. She's even programed a few herself, though her app sales never quite make up for her less than legal work. They weren't terribly well off, but certainly not starving either. Less than a year into parenthood the couple died in an airship accident, a safety protocol malfunction killing them both in the early hours of the afternoon. Their only child, Qiki, was placed in the care of the planet government, becoming another child in the system. She bounced in her early life from foster home to foster home before settling in a group home. The bulk of Qiki's memories are at Miss Emily's Home for Pragmatic Youth. Moving there when she was seven the young girl was introverted and shy, but had little trouble getting others to go along with her schemes. In this new setting Qiki was given more freedom than in the past and access to more, though rather outdated, technology. A whiz with putting things together and taking them apart the young girl enjoyed fiddling with everything from the home's holoprojector to repairing broken datapads for her friends to play games. By age 14, Qiki had discovered the holonet-- Specifically a series of deep-net messageboards known as the Holonet Hyperlight Signal, or HLS. Through her escapades on the boards Qiki found a vibrant and interesting social life, creating the moniker of >U, or greater-than-you. After a bit of experimentation she found herself halfway decent at coding, and later still-- slicing. What started off as simply changing her friend's holonet pages to read embarrassing things quickly became a lucrative source of income. With the help of one holonet friend, Fade, >U was able to crack into some high volume business warehouses, having thousands of credits worth of merchandise dropped off at the location of her choosing. A few changes of hands later and Qiki was able to afford her first real slicing kit, for more on-the-job slicing. By the age of 18, Qiki felt like she had it all. A small but close circle of friends, a steady stream of work and enough income to support herself. What else could a girl want? The only thing that nagged at her was Memento. The enigmatic master slicer who admin'd the HLS released a variety of clues and puzzles hidden in images with taunting missives. Images of alien avians superimposed with the latest memes and binary. >U, forever in for the challenge, rounded up her holonet group to try and find Memento, using the clues he provided. It took a year before Qiki was able to find the clues in the code with the help of Fade, but not wanting to be undone, it was Qiki who confronted the legendary slicer at an abandoned apartment building on Coruscant. Inside was a rather unassuming Fosh delighted to be discovered. He offered Qiki a deal in that moment. Burn down all her accounts, wipe every record of herself from the holonet and cancel all her projects, disappear completely and he'd take her in as his protege. Qiki jumped at the chance. >U disappeared in nothing but a series of taunting messages from Memento himself. Qiki's apartment was abandoned and she left with the Fosh for Nar Shaddaa, starting life anew. Years passed with Qiki learning everything she could about slicing and advanced computer systems. Under Memento's tutelage SyntaxT3RR0R joined the slicing scene, a dreadlocked troll who happily went out on the more intensive missions, specializing in slicing directly into high security systems. When Qiki hit the age of 26 Memento pulled her aside and told her his own story. He wasn't the first slicer to go by the handle of Memento, having inherited the title from his own mentor, and the mentor before him. For Memento to work he'd keep his identity hidden, operated as part of the enigmatic slicer's crew so he could maintain some level of presence in the community before eventually deciding to retire with their riches before getting caught, leaving a newer better Memento in their place. It was nearly fool proof and the old Fosh, Krakers, wanted Qiki to take up the mantle. Pleased as punch, the girl did. Within a year she had a pretty decent crew slapped together herself, including old friends who'd worked for the former Memento as well, Avi and Io'an. Maintaining a presence and double life still as SyntaxT3RR0R Qiki still has fun trolling the holonet and taking up the more fun jobs on occasion on the HLS, keeping her identity as Memento a secret to all but her inner circle. |
