Having mastered Djem So and Soresu, as well as practice Ataru as a padawan, the physical demands of her choice in styles required brutal hours of physical conditioning and sparring with her former master. She has dark brown hair and striking blue eyes, and thanks to her armor and mobility on the battlefield, she has not sustained any permanent scars as of yet. Personality Profile Araya has a deep-rooted sense of responsibility towards the Jedi Order and its code, as well as those she believes she is indebted to. From all outward appearances however, Araya is far from a pious member of a religious fraternity. She is part of the growing number of Jedi who, while they believe in the core tenets of what the Jedi stand for, also realize that pacifism and other humanist ideals will inevitably lead to their destruction. Greatly attuned to the living force instead of the unified force, the Knight sees the Sith as pure evil that must be destroyed at all costs. This was given further confirmation by the Anti-Sith bill. Ultimately, Araya has no qualms with killing unarmed dark side prisoners because returning them to the Force via death is a mercy, and there is no way to truly contain a force-sensitive. At the same time, she understands that all life is connected; every soul that falls to her saber was a son, a daughter, a cousin, and maybe even a parent. She never fails to set time aside to meditate and reflect on this, balancing her battle prowess with a soul that is always ready to stay her blade. "I'd say I'm pretty good at what I do. I'll let you be the judge of that." In terms of her personality outside of battle, Araya can come off as rather ambitious and fierce. Half the things she does are planned and the other half are made up as she goes. Though the mind of a strategist is certainly there, the demeanor of one can be absent once she gains momentum, often relying on her former master to pull her back to clarity. Regardless, it would certainly be wise to never confuse her passion for anger. Background Father • Unknown Mother • Unknown Siblings • Unknown Other Important Connections • - Rayna Maisal, 18, Padawan - Captain Staunch, 28, Second-in-command of the 271st - Av'ren Kildarian, 42, Former Master Overall History • ≪ Childhood ≫ Araya was born as a slave under the Zygerrian Empire as one of the children who were selectively bred by the “best stock.” Little did the slavers realize that the baby was Force-sensitive, or that there was a Jedi Sentinel on their planet in an unrelated mission. Perhaps by coincidence, or by the will by the Force, Araya was rescued and brought to the Jedi Temple. As a child, Araya was always a rather rambunctious and somewhat cocky girl. Her skill in lightsaber combat surpassed most of her classmates, leading her to become far too focused on combat instead of also studying other skills. However, Araya was not completely unjustified. Since it was peacetime, the traditional ways of the Jedi Academy had dictated that the padawan choosing ceremony would include a tournament to display the padawans’ prowess. Any younglings who were not chosen would be sent to the Service Corps. Masters in the academy often used this fact as an incentive to make students rush their progress for the competition. As a result, Araya prided herself on having the ability to get far in the tournament via a blade, and hopefully impress a multitude of Jedi who were seeking a padawan. As expected, the girl’s saberwork pushed her far through the ranks of the competition during the ceremony. However, Araya’s greatness became halted as a textbook example of why the Force was an equally, if not more important tool than a saber. As she neared the finals, Araya was matched with a long time rival who had devoted a great deal of her study in Force abilities. Though she was young and not that powerful in the overall scheme, this girl was apt enough to easily overpower Araya’s lacking defensive Force techniques. Despite the loss, Araya had attracted the attention of Jedi Guardian, Av’ren Kildarian. ≪ Padawanship and Knighthood ≫ Not long after the two had been paired together, the war began. Their peaceful training quickly became a crucible of tribulations, including a month-long survival trek through Rishi’s jungle when their gunship was shot down. However, the two personalities were an interesting mix that complimented each other. Av’ren was a rather tired man for his age, yet unconventionally witty and sarcastic, while Araya was typically bursting with energy. Over the years, he taught her to hone her focus. Thanks to his teachings, Araya grew up to be both an energetic (and somewhat smartass), but level-headed knight. Due to the demand for Jedi on the battlefield, Araya's rank as a knight appointed her the position of temporary General in the Republic Army and she leads the 271st. As well, the Council assigned Rayna Maisal to be her padawan. |
