:: Captain's Log, 1408 AHW, 6.264
This is Captain Kenedis of the Korian, serial number R-N six zero three nine eight two seven. I claim this data journal and I certify that every entry from here on out is my private property, subject and is subject to special judicial scrutiny should the need ever arise as per outlined in my contract, article seven subsection two.
It's the first day of my excursion. The Republic lost a mining colony out on a planet they didn't even bother to name: C-twelve-twenty six. Poor bastards never seem to understand that shit happens out there they can't control, things that we don't even understand yet; that it's not worth it no matter how many resources they can pull out of the UR. Seems to me that lives matter less and less to these high and mighty chair members. So now they've sent me with a few dozen marines to go see what happened and to clean up their mess if need be.
Well, it's going to be one hell of a journey. This place is farther out than anyone cares to think about- I don't even know how they found it. It'll take a full day of hyperspace travel to get there, which is longer than I care to think about. Entire ships have been driven insane by hyper-rapture. I've had to make special precautions with the other pilots to prevent them from inadvertently staring into hyperspace for too long, and we'll pray that we don't run into any other vessels traveling perpendicular to us. Technically speaking, it's an extremely rare event since there are no hyperlanes in our route and there's no reason for anyone to go that far west, but stranger things have happened.
Alright, that's it for now.

"General Ves'kade."
Araya turned towards the voice approaching her rear.
"Ah, Captain Staunch," she replied. "What can I do for you?"
The 30 something-year-old commander stopped a few feet away from the Jedi and clicked his heels as he stood at attention. White armor plating covered him from the neck down, frayed at the corners and bearing the familiar orange stripes of the 271st. A worn kama floated next to his greaves, pocketed and scarred by battlefields long past. His pupils were like viewports- windows that he stared out of from behind. Lines intersected the skin between his cheekbones and his eyes, but the old dog still had plenty of honed vigor in his face.
"Sir," he began. "The men reported seeing some sort of intruder in the halls near the hangar bays. Security cameras haven't picked anything up, but enough concerns were raised to bring this to your attention."
"Intruder? That's impossible, we've had a strict headcount with incoming shuttles and we never landed when we were back on Ulon Four."
"Yes sir. It's just that- a couple of troops chased them down and didn't find anything. They're shaken, sir."
Araya looked at her padawan, almost rolling her eyes.
"Hangar bays huh? They've probably been staring into hyperspace too long; we've never had a trip this far before. Tell them to cycle personnel more often and to avoid looking out of any viewports."
"Very good, sir."
With that, Staunch turned around and exited the bridge. Suddenly, one of the men seated at the monitor cubicles called upward, "General, we're coming out of hyperspace!"
"About time," Araya muttered to herself.
The blue tunnel of interstellar smoke slowly faded into the black canvas of the void, streaks of light becoming shrunken lines until they were the dots of stars. There were less of them here than anywhere else in the galaxy. However, there was another celestial body that replaced the volume the stars had failed to fill. Before the crew of the Mercurian, a small blue planet awaited them.
"We're beginning our descent!" a deckhand shouted.
The Republic light cruiser made its way into the azure ball like a spear tip, penetrating the outer layer of its invisible exosphere. Soon enough, volatile turbulence rocked the vessel as it descended into the upper weather system, bolts of lightning crashing into the sides of the hull here and there. Every square inch of empty space was occupied by the planetwide torrential storm, characterized by thin sheets of ice and miscellaneous particles. To think anything could live here was an almost impossible task.
For the next five minutes, the crew aboard the bridge was utterly blind.
However, the shape of buildings suddenly materialized through the blanket of frostbitten winds. Below the Mercurian, a single colony sat on a mountainside, positioned higher than the plains of barren land around it. Faint, yellow luminescence splashed across the empty streets, but not a thing moved along those roads and alleys. As well, half the lampposts in the town were either off or bent from their foundations. A large portion of the colony to the east had been relegated for living quarters, yet there was not a single house that streamed light from one of its windows. Towards the center of the town, a large office complex rose above the rest of the structures like a citadel. Marketplaces and cantinas could be seen to its left, but those too showed no signs of life.
Half the landing pads were also empty.
"Alright," Araya began. "We're going to take a shuttle down to that administration building and see what's going on. Rayna, go get Master Tolvus from his quarters."
She shifted her attention to the wrist comm on her glove and tapped it to contact the communications' section of the ship. "If any of you SIS guys wanna come with the search party, we'll be leaving through exit bay twelve in ten minutes."
