She has dark brown, wavy hair that falls to the middle of her back. It is usually contained in some form of stylish braids or buns with clips, beads, and other adornments meant to catch the eye. Speaking of eyes, hers are a soft green, often made more vibrant by masterful use of cosmetic products. She has the long nose and regal features of a Tapani noble, mixed with the mysterious and exotic beauty of an Humani nomad. Viatrix is always dressed in the most current fashions and is sometimes a favored canvas for prominent fashion designers to show off their newest lines. She favors silks and lace, with gold being the best accent against her slightly olive skin tone. She also favors bangle bracelets and the occasional application of stylish body paint. Personality Profile Viatrix has the gift of gab. She is most in her element when at the center of a crowd. She has an ease with people that makes her outward profession a breeze. She can charm almost anyone into financing the next big match of the century at the Arena, and many know it. This has made her the most successful promoter on Prazhi since the Arena first opened. Her ability to maintain confidence and to make others trust her has also made her second, less talked about, profession a success as well. Viatrix is known, in the right circles, as the most reliable independent information broker on Prazhi. She has worked with spies from both the Republic and the Empire, as well as other smaller factions. All of these things combined have made Viatrix perfectly suited for her true calling, which is to the Mecrosa Order. As a Mecrosa spy, Viatrix has been perfectly positioned for the Order, and the Mecrosa take great pains to ensure that whatever intelligence they act upon cannot be traced back to her. Generally speaking, Viatrix is warm and kind to all she encounters. She is quick to laugh and so graciously accommodating that many are unable to decline her hospitality. The key to her success in this is her keen observation skills and extensive research on all the important people that come and go from Prazhi. She has a staff of researchers who keep her constantly up to date on all the gossip and political intrigue on planet, as well as abroad. It is not uncommon for her to wear a discrete earpiece that allows her staff to communicate information to her during large events. Background Father • Abramo Jocasto Bengochea deVela, 52, Trader Mother • Fiona Monserrat, 50, Tapani Noblewoman Siblings • none Other Important Connections • "Uncle" Luca, 60, Mecrosa Spy, tutor/mentor Overall History • Fiona had always been a hopeless romantic. So it was really no surprise that her heart, and she herself, was stolen by the charming Humani trader who visited Opulette. This is not to say that the young noblewoman's kidnapping wasn't a scandal, but it was not one long gossiped about. Fiona was the sort, and while the Monserrat house was an offshoot of the Mecetti, they were not important enough to was too much time on. Fiona lived happily with Abramo aboard the Bengochea house vessel for nearly a year. But when she became pregnant, and when he fell out of favor with his family and house, it was decided best that she return to her family. Her return was kept quiet, and she and Abramo lived at their family's country estate where their child could be born and raised outside of the usual attention of Tapani nobility. This proved ideal, for though Abramo had to adjust to staying in one place, he was smitten by his beautiful daughter and was more than happy to stay put if it meant he could "be with his women", as he put it. Their use of the home and the family's resources did, eventually, become a strain, but fate would sort that out as well. Shortly after Viatrix turned four, the family was visited by a man who introduced himself as Luca. He explained that medical tests showed that Viatrix was a gifted child and that, should the family wish, they could receive help from Tapani benefactors to ensure she developed to her full potential. Over time, it would become clear that it was the shadowy Mecrosa Order who had come. Luca became Viatrix's tutor, beginning her early education much like any Tapani noble child might. He spent so much time with the family, that he was often called Uncle Luca. His lessons were cleverly simple, but included a foundation that would eventually prepare her for the next phase of her studies. That next phase came with Viatrix turned 13. She was told that she would be sent away to a boarding school for other children who were special, like her. While she was worried about leaving her family, Viatrix saw how proud her parents and Uncle Luca were of her and so she tried her best to be brave as she left home. The school was, at first glance, exactly what it appeared to be. Viatrix found herself among a numble of Tapani noble children, and even some commoners, who proved to be the best and brightest their families had to offer. Each year, their lessons became more intense and demanding, with a great deal of focus on the political machinations of the galaxy. In ancient Tapani tradition, the school also taught lightfoil fencing. Viatrix was by no means the best of her peers, but she proved to be a quick study of her opponents and a clever combatant. So seamless was the gradual push toward clandestine subjects that the reveal of the school as a training grounds for the Mecrosa Order was not really a surprise to any of the students. By the time she'd reached 20, Viatrix was a loyal acolyte, ready to dedicate her life to the Order. The next few years focused on specialty training. For Viatrix, that meant true espionage and deep cover operation skills. She was no soldier, but she could be the eyes and ears in any crowd. She was no commander, but she could charm information out of just about anyone. She did learn defense techniques, of course, as well as more nefarious skills with poisons and database infiltration, but the bulk of Viatrix's training and expertise proved to be in the realm of social engineering. Viatrix's formal training came to an end around the same time that the Tapani sector pulled out of the war between the Republic and the newly unified Sith Empire. She was reunited with her former tutor, Luca, and began her first covert operations under his mentorship. Much of her early work was geared around ensuring that the Tapani sector would not be attacked or drawn back into the conflict. Once the armistice was signed, and Prazhi was set up as the demilitarized neutral zone between the Republic and the Empire, Viatrix was assigned there to work her way up in whatever influential place she could so that she might be well positioned to serve the Order. With the creation of the Arena, Viatrix was able to establish herself as a Promoter, as well as make a name for herself in the more shadowy circles as an information broker. This combination of legitimate and clandestine enterprises became the perfect cover for her as a member of the Mecrosa Order. |
