Appearance Height & Weight • • 6'1", 170 lbs Overall Looks • Lucian is the picture of nobility. He is tall, lean, and graceful, with wavy, dark brown hair that falls to roughly shoulder length when it isn't tidied into a ponytail. He is handsome by most Human standards, with a strong jawline and pale blue eyes. Lucian is lean and muscular to meet the demands of his various, often strenuous, duties. Since an ill-advised and unaesthetic attempt to grow out a beard in his early 20s, Lucian keeps as close-shaven as possible. As can be expected of someone of his aristocratic roots, Lucian is often seen in the finest and most current of fashions. In fact Lucian is quite vain and doesn't mind if it shows. When on missions as part of the House Guard or the Mecrosa Order, he dresses to the occasion. When appropriate, he dons his special Knight-Commander military uniform, which is black with mostly red accents, as well as a red cape. For more combat or stealth related situations, he opts for close fitting, black and gray light armor that sacrifices resistance to heavier blasters for ease of movement and dexterity. Almost invariably, his grandfather's lightfoil, an ornate rapier with a silver blade, is at his side. Nearly as ubiquitous are his boots. Whether they are of the finest leather or more utilitarian, Lucian has always preferred boots to other kinds of footwear. His yacht and various apartments are well stocked with them. More often than not, he also wears a pin bearing the House Mecetti insignia on the left side of his chest. Personality Profile Outwardly, Lucian is rather easygoing. Due to his upbringing in the noble courts of Javis and his inquisitive disposition, he finds conversation easy, particularly among his peers. He is amiable and enjoys a good sense of humor, even if he tends towards the sarcastic himself. He is also proud and highly conscious of social status and outward appearances, so he is often a lot more formal around commoners, military subordinates, and strangers. Even so, he enjoys conversation and games and can get along well enough with most anybody. His intimates will attest that he is also fond of drinking, parties, and noble beauties of both sexes. Lucian is full of anxious energy. He sleeps little, speaks quickly, and leaps into the day's activities, believing action to be the only way to keep his restlessness at bay. Lucian, like so many spoiled young aristocrats, is impatient and absolutely hates being made to wait. He is also accustomed to being waited on, leaning on servants or droids for what he sees as the more menial disciplines of life. Though not much of a scholar, Lucian enjoys Tapani poetry and speaks Herglese quite well. he enjoys hunting, riding, and breeds racing mounts in his spare time. Lucian is a romantic and sees himself and his peers as being bound by noblisse oblige. Knighthood, while not the highest rank of nobility, is very important to him and he is eager to prove himself as a brave combatant and competent military leader. As part of this obligation, he sees it as his duty to protect Tapani citizens from danger and mediate disputes between commoners and nobles alike. Lucian is a patriot and a conservative by most measures, strongly supporting both Tapani independence and the political hegemony created by his cousins in House Mecetti. Like many Mecetti, he has a strong distaste for the Jedi and is deeply skeptical of them and the Republic as a whole. Background Father • Adas Orega de Mecetti IV, 61, Count of Orega Mother • Jacintha nee Calipsa Orega de Mecetti, 58, Countess of Orega Siblings
Other Important Connections • Admiral Yanis Hayg, Mentor, Mecrosa Order PM if you're interested! Romance, friendship, or rivalries are welcome. Overall History • The Oregas were a mere footnote among the Tapani nobility until the late 4000s. As a minor vassal of House Melantha on their world of Soterios, the Oregas held a single barony and could boast only a few mere Knighthoods in the family. Adas Orellion Orega, the third son of Baron Orellion Orega, emigrated to the Mercetti world of Javis to pursue new opportunities. He would eventually build a respectable agricultural operation, controlling nearly 100,000 acres of fertile farmland. With demand for cash crops on the more settled Tapani worlds soaring, the Oregas quickly became a wealthy, if politically obscure house. As succeeding generations of Oregas established themselves on Javis, they grew more distant from their nominal suzerain, House Melantha and began to grow closer to House Mecetti. These relations were formalized and expanded when Emillia Orega was married to a Mecetti cousin, leading House Mecetti to create the title of Count Orega and grant it to their descendants. Since then, the Counts Orega have been steadfast members of House Mecetti and has provided many Knights and fighting men to their House Guard, not to mention hefty financial support during times of national strife. To cement their legitimacy, the Orega Mecettis have continued to intermarry with the other great families of House Mecetti. They rule their domain, The County of Orega, from proud country palaces, where they also oversee the family’s vast export-crop empire. Even so, they stay out of most non-local political affairs, leaving more senior clans within the House to manage politics and military affairs. They are loyal supporters of the new regime, and traditionally send their younger sons and daughters to serve in the House Guard and, secretly, the Mecrosa Order. Lucian Fenando, the third child of Jacintha and Adas, was born in the summer at the Orega de Mecetti country home of Whitecliff, just as the eight generations before him. His grandmother, Countess Orega, called him "the fairest baby I've yet seen." Lucian may have been fair, but more consequentially, he was strongly force sensitive, and he was quickly discovered by the Mecrosa Order and selected for recruitment. Lucian proved to be a restless child. He flustered his nursemaids and servants from the time he could run, and took great delight in stirring up little mischiefs all over the family's estate. Save occasional appearances in the city during Javis' brief social season, Lucain's first decade was almost exclusively spent at Whitecliff or another of the family's estates on the planet. Lucian's sister was the firstborn, and was being groomed to rule the County, and his elder brother was by far the brightest. Nevertheless, his education received the same careful attention as his siblings, save one subject. Like most noble children, he was attended by an army of tutors, who taught him everything a young aristocrat was to know, such as High Galactic, history, culture, science, art, and etiquette. His mother took care to dress him finely and to impart upon him a decent sense of style. For his part, Adas, a by all accounts warm man, was an alcoholic, but enjoyed taking his boys on hunts and teaching them to ride. Lucian was annoyed by his studies, but his favorite instructor by far was a man by the name of Karilus Vant, a commoner from Obulette. The boy never exactly understood why he was the only Orega child to be tutored by Karilus, or exactly what he was supposed to be learning. Ostensibly, he was Lucian’s dueling instructor. Indeed, he taught the young boy the basics of swordplay and encouraged him in his athletic support. In fact, he was a member of the secretive Mecrosa Order, an old order of force sensitives in service of House Mecetti. Karilus had been secretly monitoring the boy since his birth on Javis, only informing his parents of his force sensitivity after his fourth birthday. From then until Lucian was ten, Karilus subtly developed his skills in the force, teaching him to feel the presence of himself and others. Only then was Lucian informed of his special connection with the force. As his adolescence began, Lucian began to spend less and less time on other subjects as Karilus gradually intensified his force training. The rudimentary aspects of force concealment, telepathy, and telekinesis did not come easily to Lucian, but he made real progress under Karilus’ tutelage. Swordplay was Lucian’s real forte. He was agile, strong, and entergetic, as well as keenly fascinated by the art of dueling. Karilus taught him the basics of the lightsaber form Makashi, adapted for use with the traditional lightfoil, as well as how to use his connection to the force to augment his physical abilities. All of this was kept highly secret. Even Lucian’s siblings were kept in the dark. His parents were somewhat apprehensive at first, concerned about the order’s dark history, but eventually became more supportive as they realized Lucian had no other real prospects other than the House Guard or a role in the family’s cash crop business. After he turned thirteen, Karilus had a meeting with Lucian and his parents, where he told them that Lucian would return to him to the Mecrosa Order’s top secret academy, where he would be trained in the ways of the force and find a place to serve House Mecetti and the High Kingdom. As far as everyone was concerned, Lucian was joining an elite boarding school reserved for the sector’s best and brightest. While he was excited at the prospect of adventure, Lucian was nervous to leave Whitecliff, where he had been nearly all his life. To ease his heartache, his mother gave him a gold locket to remind him of home. At school, Lucian’s training took on a whole new level. His mornings were filled with intense physical exercise, martial arts training, and dueling lessons with his mentor, Karilus Vant. After lunch, he was trained equally as rigorously in Galactic history and affairs, the history and workings of the order, science and the arts, as well as a variety of other subjects that other young nobles would have learned in a real boarding school. Lucian was initially very sulky about the comparatively spartan accommodations and lifestyle, but he soon fell in with his fellow acolytes. He had never had much interaction with aliens and commoners, but soon counted many among his friends. He was a natural in the duelists’ ring, where he forged friendships and rivalries alike. He also developed a strong interest in the epic poems of old, from which he began to form strong ideals about duty and honor. This translated well with the Order’s tenets of loyalty to House Mecetti. His studies in the force were less impressive, but he managed to receive adequate marks in most fields. He was a gregarious child and young adult, and counted many of his colleagues among his friends. Many of them were his cousins after all. After an initial fling with a common girl a few years his senior, he decided there was nothing better than courting and began a lifelong habit of chasing beauties of both sexes, though he tried to stay away from commoners after his first fling broke his heart. Of course, all of this was done in secret while at the academy, except for the time, at seventeen, he was caught scurrying around in the lady dormitories. By the age of nineteen, Lucian had developed into one of the Order’s top initiates. He was already over 6 feet tall and well-defined, as well as a precocious fighter. He was not cut out for the deep cover espionage or high-stakes assassinations the Order was infamous for, but his martial talents did not go unrecognized. Karilus had retired, so the specialization phase of his training was taken up by one Rear Admiral Yanis Hayg, a member of the Order and flag officer in the Mecetti House Guard. Through their strong presence in the House Guard, the Order was able to have Lucian commissioned under Hayg as a Warrant Officer 1st Class. During the next five years, Lucian’s power would grow under Hayg’s teachings. A powerful force sensitive, a lady’s man, and a respected officer, Hayg would influence Lucian more than any of his instructors at the academy. He insisted on routine and discipline, but also encouraged Lucian to be in good humor and enjoy life as he fulfilled his duties. Under Hayg, Lucian first saw combat, first led troops, and developed his force and lightfoil abilities even further. He had already been a talented practitioner of Makashi, but Hayg forced the young nobleman to spar every morning at 0500 sharp, keeping him on his toes with unorthodox moves and an unpredictable form. He insisted that Lucian learn the ins and outs of blasters and slugthrowers, and how to deflect or avoid them if he were on their business end. Lucian’s new mentor would also push him towards new and darker force powers, teaching him to choke a man or instill unreasoning fear within weaker minded opponents. Lucian’s first blood was aboard a hijacked freighter in the Giju system, where Admiral Hayg’s forces had pinned a local cell of pirates. At 22, Lucian led a squadron of Marines on to the ship, where fighting was intense. Several marines under his command were killed, but Lucian’s training paid off when an all-out melee took place on the bridge. Fear gripped the young duelist as he led the assault, not fear of dying so much as fear of failure. He used that fear to his advantage, channeling it into rage. Lightfoil in hand, Lucian led the marines on to the bridge and decimated what remained of the pirates. He even had a chance to fight in a real duel when the captain drew what was probably the biggest vibrosword in the Tapani sector. Before he knew it, he had made short work of the rascal, as he was an amateurish and sloppy swordsman. That day he killed four men in service of his House, and he was proud. His training was near complete when the War broke out. No great fan of the Jedi or Republic, he was chagrined that his brothers and cousins were going to die on their behalf, but did his duty. If his previous three years of training had been difficult, the next two would prove to be brutal. He and his mentor would fight in thirteen engagements over the course of the war, including two where they battled Dark Jedi. The first of these was a mere apprentice, leading a squad of commandos on an attempted saboteur mission of the Fondor shipyard. Sensing the disturbance, Hayg had moved to intercept and let Lucian take point on the attack. The battle hardened marines and the by-now-combat-savvy nobleman made short work of the commandos aboard one of the orbital shipyards, leaving Lucian face to face with a young Twi’lek, even younger than him. The two engaged in a vicious lightsaber melee, where the surprisingly agile Sith was able to inflict a flesh wound on Lucian’s shoulder. Wounded and fearful, Lucian again channeled his anger into a furor of slashes, jabs, and thrusts that disarmed his opponent. She surrendered, but with young Lucian still full of pain and rage, he couldn’t stop himself from force choking her until she was pale in the face. Hayg swiftly intervened and saved the prisoner’s life. He reported the incident to the Order, noting that Lucian had behaved irreproachably beforehand, and that he now believed his acolyte to have a sort of inner darkness that could be exploited for future benefit. The second incident was part of a large scale ground battle on the front. Lucian, made Captain after being recognized for their earlier victories, and Hayg were in command of a Marine battalion and charged with defending a Barnaba stronghold on Hellios. The attackers were led by a powerful Sith Lord, who was able to detect the Mecrosa agents even through their force concealment. With the fighting around them heavy, neither Hayg nor Lucian saw him coming. Hayg was maimed badly when he was unable to deflect a torrent of force lightning, and would have died if Lucian hadn’t sensed his distress and come to the rescue. Surrounded by corpses and deafened by thousands of explosions, Lucian squared off with the Sith Lord and realized he was far out of his league. After a savage duel, he was losing ground. It was only when a large chunk of debris slammed into the Dark Jedi from behind that Lucian was able to find an opening. After severing his saber hand, Lucian beheaded the Sith, believing him too dangerous to be held prisoner.Though he would have been done for without the sudden intervention of his mentor in the form of force thrown debris, Lucian’s ability to hold his own against such a powerful enemy convinced Hayg that his training had been complete. Shortly after the battle on Hellios, the Tapanis declared independence. In recognition of his service, Lucian was knighted by King Corik I shortly after the cessation of hostilities. At the exclusive reception afterwards, he was given instructions to report to the Grandmaster the next day to receive his first commission as a full member of the Mecrosa Order. For his part, Rear Admiral Hayg was made a titular Baron and promoted to Admiral, returning to Obulette for a brief period of convalescence. After reporting to his superiors, he was given an extensive debrief of his time as an acolyte. Lucian’s noble roots, martial ability, and devotion House Mecetti were to be leveraged for maximum effectiveness by assigning him to the Order’s secretive Internal Security Division. There, he would operate independently and/or with fellow Mecrosans to identify and eliminate internal threats to the Kingdom. He would use his Knighthood, family connections, and military rank to root out opposition within the various House Guards and among Mecetti’s political rivals and identify disloyalty before it festered into revolt. He was first tasked with eliminating pro-Republic dissent within the Mecetti House Guard. Under the guise of inspecting the living quarters of 11 different battalions, he gathered information about each’s officer corps, completing a comprehensive dossier of suspected Republican sympathizers within them. A series of assassinations and trumped up charges of corruption later, and most of them had been eliminated by his colleagues. Dissenters in the other houses got the message and either pledged their loyalty to the new King or fled the sector This earned him newfound respect within the Order, where he had been viewed as not much more than a pretty face and a swinging sword by some of his superiors. Another important responsibility assigned to Lucian was protecting important political figures within House Mecetti during their travels or during high security operations. As one of the few modern Mecrosans to have crossed swords with a Sith Lord, he is also often consulted about possible force sensitive threats to the Order or the House, within and outside of Tapani space. To better integrate himself with the movers and the shakers within Mecetti province, he built a palatial retreat on his homeworld of Javis. There he built a large manor, several guesthouses, and a massive Varactyl racing complex, naming the estate Mount Hayg in honor of his mentor. He sought to entertain young nobles and build a network of reliable informants and allies. He reasoned that his contemporaries would be the next generation to assume power in the Sector, so it only made sense to keep tabs on them. In the process, he grew quite fond of the varactyls and began jockeying them himself during the competitions. He began holding semi-annual games, when he would invite young nobles from across the sector to participate in races, jousting, and other games. It proved a great source of fun, but also a useful place to gain friends within the other Houses. As the years passed, his racing circle grew to include members of every House, dozens of Mecetti cousins and uncles, and attaches from Mandalore, the Empire, and the Republic. Some years after his ascension as a full member of the Order, Lucian's renown has only grown. After an investigation into suspicious traffic between House Melantha and the Sith world of Korriban, he uncovered a cult of Dark Jedi that was conspiring to align the House with the Sith Order. Leading a task force of Mecrosa Knights disguised as young nobles and Melantha House Guard, Lucian eliminated the dissidents and secured Melantha's loyalty to the new regime. He also crossed swords with a Jedi Knight on one of the disputed worlds between the Republic and the High Kingdom. The dispute began when both arrived within hours of each other to recover a particularly force sensitive child. The Knight turned out to be a rather reasonable lady, so when the fight ended at a stalemate, they decided to let the parents decide. Oddly enough, the strong force presence turned out to be two presences: twins. They persuaded the peasants to split the babies between the Jedi and Mecrosa, with each reporting to their superiors that they had succeeded in recovering the "child" in question. At the present, Lucian seems to be at his peak. At thirty, he is recognized as a masterful duelist throughout the High Kingdom, is something of a war hero from his time in the House Guard, and is widely respected within the Order as a competent operator and a dependable commander |
