He posses the athletic build of a career soldier, though the natural shape of his body makes him appear somewhat slimmer than others with similarly active lifestyle might have. There is a certain swaggering grace to his bearing and manner, of a man absolutely, perhaps overly so, confident in his own abilities and of his own importance. This image is only reinforced by a haughty sneer of casual disdain that seems to Velten’s resting face. Personality Profile Although Velten possesses the manners and eloquence of a well-bred aristocrat, at his core he is just an entitled bully with a serious lack of empathy towards people he does not consider to be on his level. Thus, while towards his friends and lackeys, people he considers his equals or people he wishes to impress Velten is perfectly polite and cordial, people below him on the ladder are fortunate if all they receive is cold shoulder from him. He has a decidedly self-centered view of the world around him and anyone that in any way reinforces it is likely to be received by Velten with smug affability. However, anyone who in any way challenges his views is in for an abusive tirade, and attempted trashing or quiet glowering if either of the former options would get him in too much trouble. Few things give Velten more joy than teaching someone whom tried to stand up to him ‘their proper place’ which in his opinion is usually laying bruised and bloodied on the ground. Velten is a champion grudgeholder, never letting an opportunity bear one against just about anyone he believes has slighted him sufficiently and won’t consider the feud settled until the other party is no longer capable of retaliating against him. He also has a strong streak competitive jealousy that only feeds his antagonistic attitudes. His Force sensitivity was discovered early on but factored little to his early upbringing. After all, Velten's parents weren't about to hand over their darling baby boy over to the Jedi order and there was no alternative at the time, or at least not one that came with any credibility and reliability. Velten's early childhood was largely unremarkable. He faced no significant challenges and if any seemed to appear, his parents were there to throw credits at the problem until it went away. He benefited from the best possible early education a child could receive in the Empire and come his early teens he was ready to be shipped off to one of the Empire's premier boarding schools with the rest of his peers. Around that time the Sith Order was being reformed. Velten was definitely interested in joining, but his parents weren't yet quite convinced. After all, the Order was new with no real track record or assurances it wouldn't peter out in a couple of years. Besides, Velten was still just a child. Thus, his parents resolved to continue with their original plan to sent him through the standard academic path for a Sith Empire Aristocrat. Velten could join once he was through the Academy. However, Velten's parents weren't going to waste an opportunity to get something out of the Sith order during Velten's education. With their vast resources, it was no challenge to find willing members of the Order to tutor Velten alongside his regular studies. They even managed to cajole an official approval from the Order for this practice by becoming one of the more generous donors to the order and promising to send Velten in as soon as he had completed his studies. The young aristocrat was a decent student, though nothing remarkable. Not that he was overly interested in the academic portions of his training either. Socializing with his friends and taking part in the various extra curricular sports was far more important to him than studying. Over time he developed a true liking for physical activities that continued throughout his education. Of the tutoring he received in the Sith arts during his free-time Velten was of two minds. On the other hand, he found everything he learned from his revolving cadre of tutors fascinating, delighting in learning to harness his Force sensitivity and learning to wield a lightsaber. On the other hand, it did cut into his free-time which was somewhat irritating. It was an irritation he could tolerate, however, considering the rewards he could see at the end of the road. In his late teens Velten progressed from the boarding school he had been attending to the Imperial Academy. There Velten's marks improved remarkably to the point where, while he was still far from being the top of his class, his instructors considered him as someone with a bright career in front of him. Velten went on to graduate with respectable grades and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Imperial Grenadier Corps. Of, course he was almost immediately honorably discharged and sent on his way to Korriban. Thanks to being already tutored in the Sith ways as well as having a relatively advanced education compared to many other initiates, Velten was fast-tracked through much of the basic training. Now, after few years of training Velten is approaching the end of his training at Korriban Academy and seeking to join in the ranks of the Sith Knights. |
