Lucien Karvona Full Name • Lucien Ramdis Karvona Race • Human Birthplace • Theed, Naboo Age • 33 Gender • Male Sexuality • Heterosexual Faction • Jedi Concept • Rank 2 Jedi Consular/Lightsaber Duelist. An adept negotiator and culturally curious individual, Lucien is more interested in finding peaceful solutions rather than engaging in conflict. He spends his time studying the more subtle uses of the Force, focusing on how it can heal and gently persuade. That being said, Lucien is far from helpless when combat is called for, and has studied lightsaber technique extensively. Languages • Basic, Naboo, Huttese Assets • -Green standard single-blade lightsaber. It is recognizable by its especially ornate and detailed hilt, resembling a decoration more than a weapon. The slight curve in the denotes it as fitted for a duelist. -A blaster pistol, for when things get heated at a distance. -Comlink, credit chip, translator, and data pad -Standard battle armor- stored -Personal fighter and navigational astromech unit Appearance Face Claim • Valery Kovtun Height & Weight • 6’1, 175lbs Overall Looks • Lucien is a lean man of fairly average height. His choice of wearing pale colors, usually shades of white and grey, under a black cloak add to his already pale coloring. He is ethereal, with white-blonde hair and blue eyes, elfine in his features and build. Elegance flows from his movements and his expression is usually open and serene. He has numerous scars from various battles, ranging from the small spattering on one hand from an unfortunate incident involving shrapnel to the larger cut across his hip from a very close call with a lightsaber. None are extremely visible. Personality Profile A warm smile and relaxed disposition is perhaps his most common state. A man of boundless curiosity and compassion, Lucien was always a peacekeeper. Even among his fellow students during his training, he often served as a mediator and, when necessary, a comforter. His ability to empathize makes him a valuable asset, particularly when combined with his cultural studies. He excels at moving within other people groups, learning their ways and respectfully behaving accordingly. His philosophy is one of negotiation first, even if the attempt should put him in danger. Ironically, despite being taken in by the Jedi at a young age, he still displays some of the behaviors exhibited by his Naboo relatives. Lucien’s combat abilities are born out of necessity rather than interest. He is a particularly adept swordsman because he preferred to approach the use of a lightsaber as a study, just as he would approach an alien culture. As such, he is particularly well-versed in form and has made himself an accomplished duelist. That said, he is not the impressive combatant that some of his fellows are. He has simply put form into practice in a time of war. Conflict has been ever-present since his youth. While he agrees that, as a Jedi, he should fight for the restoration of peace, he is constantly searching for an alternative method to bring it about. Though his kindness is one of his most well-known attributes, Lucien is also very set in his beliefs and can, at times, be manipulative if it means following them. If he has the impression that events must occur a certain way, or things must be ordered specifically for the good of a person or group, he will use whatever means he can to ensure that this happens. He has been known to use the Force to gently ‘nudge’ the mind of another ‘for their own good’. It is, in his mind, only commendable to do so when the situation calls for it. How he knows when the situation is right, however, is a mystery. Always, he seeks to create peace, and, sometimes, the ends justify the means. Background Father • Helios Karvona, 65, Naboo Government Official Mother • Carsimum Karvona, 60, Philanthropist Siblings • Serene Karvona, 39, Ambassador Other Important Connections • Scarlett Tal, 44, Jedi Deserter, Former Master Overall History • Lucien does not recall Naboo. He remembers nothing beyond an impression of warmth that he takes to mean that he had a peaceful infanthood. By the time he could walk, he had already been sought out by the Jedi due to his Force sensitivity. His earliest memories are of the Temple. He grew up surrounded by his fellow younglings, training from a young age to memorize the Jedi Code, wield a lightsaber, and use the Force. His childhood experience was not so different from other young Jedi. When he came of age, he proved himself adequate in his trials and was chosen by a Twi’lek Master, Scarlett Tal. In his early teen years, he revered his master with a sort of hero worship. She was badly scarred, her once exotically beautiful face marred by battle, the skin of her arms and legs no longer smooth. She never told him exactly what had happened, only referencing that it had occurred during combat with a dark side user. In his mind, she was a picture of what a Jedi should be: strong, resolute, but able to be gentle. She was also the closest thing to a mother that he’d ever had. As Lucien grew, he began to understand that his master’s strength was born of necessity, and that she was growing tired. Tired of conflict, tired of a perpetual question that seemed to torment her. At first, he did not understand the question. As time passed, he began to glean insights into what it was. Balance, his master told him, was key. Balance in the Force. Balance between mental and physical power. Balance within oneself. It was because of this teaching that he chose the path of the negotiator, his master helping him hone himself into a silver-tongued speaker who could diffuse a situation with words and the Force far faster than with a lightsaber. She utilized positive reinforcement, teaching him through building him up. Under her tutilage, he became a skilled negotiator and duelist. She encouraged him in his cultural studies, pushing him to learn all he could. Still, that question nagged, lurking in her eyes even as she guided him through his forms or discussed the complexities of Bothan politics. The question came to a head soon after his trials for Knighthood. He’d grown into a promising Consular, demonstrating a deep understanding of the Force and an agreeable amount of combat finesse. He passed well, conducting himself as a Jedi should. His master was proud, and saw fit to tell him as much. Then, she informed him that she would be leaving the Jedi Order. That his training was complete and she saw that it was time to embark on her own journey. Balance, she said, would not be found with the Jedi, who clung so religiously to the light. Nor would it be found with the Sith, who immersed themselves in the dark. She would seek out true balance, she said. Lucien was rattled by this, but he understood. After all, his master had hinted too many times of her desire to find the balance she had taught him about. They departed with fond farewells. A decade after his master’s disappearance, Lucien still has not seen her or heard from her. In her absence, he grew into his own man. A skilled consular with a growing proficiency in the Force and with a lightsaber, he has worked to fix every conflict the Jedi have faced in the last ten years. Most recently, when the Chorus struck, he often embarked on relief missions. Now, in the wake of this last crisis, and in the face of another, he wonders if it is not possible to use their former alliance to finally broker peace between Jedi and Sith... |
