In his travels since leaving home he's started to grow the scruff of a beard and thinks it distinguishes him a little more, and intends to keep it. Guiddeon's attire suits that of a ship's crewman, simple tan cargo pants with heavy black work boots, usually some form of a t-shirt or tank top when not in his flight suit and a simple cap. Personality Profile Guiddeon, having lived the life of a middle-class trader under his father, knew no lack of necessities in life. He's always been charitable with what he owns, but not so to the extent that it becomes a detriment to him. That middle-ground niche of social status let him become friends with others on both sides (Higher and lower-class) of the spectrum. He helped when he could, but never asked for anything in return, except of course when he found out of the fathers of his friends was a ship's mechanic, at which point he would frequent their home to learn what he could. A desire for knowledge when it comes to ships. Guiddeon will readily bury his nose in a data pad ripe with information on ship schematics and guides on their inner-workings. This unprecedented thirst would lead to learning some more unsavory methods of acquiring said information. In-tow with friends, he would frequent the space-port and slice in to terminals looking up schematics of ships at the docks to learn about them. This would often times lead to trouble with the authorities which would be played off by his mother, but would rouse his father into another tirade. His attitude towards every facet of life was generally jovial, but he remained a little more on the shy and reserved side of his friends. More than happy to share a laugh and smile, or partake in some practical joke, he sometimes took said jokes just a little too far. The only thing that outright bothered him was his father's demand that he learn more about the trades and studies in galactic commerce so he could one day take over "the family business". Working for a company (Corellian Masternav, Incorporated) that made astro-nav charts. It certainly was the exposure to astrological charts and navigation systems that made Guiddeon more intrigued about ships and their workings, but he had little desire to work in the trading of said charts and more so the creation of them, by being on a ship and exploring the galaxy. His father and he did not agree in this, and would frequently have shouting matches about it. Because of this, Guiddeon would grow up to resent paternal relationships, not even with his own father, but with others who may have been seen as father-like figures. Background Father • Calus Elias Kolburn, 52, buyer/seller and contact manager at Corellian Masternav, Incorporation. Mother • Silla Val Kolburn, 50, mid-wife. Siblings • None Other Important Connections • Father of a friend, Waylin (60s) who helped Guiddeon to start learning about ships and becoming a repairsmith / mechanic aboard them. Overall History • Guiddeon spent his formative years in a primary school on Brentaal IV, learning about Galactic Commerce and Trade as well as other "core" necessities. He loathed this, however, and when he was able to he would be off with friends doing whatever he could to forget about it. He never did truly well in any of his classes, spending more time come the age of 14 with Waylin, a Ship's Mechanic and father to a friend from school. He would spend days pleading with his parents to let him go to trade school instead, wanting to learn more about how ships worked than how to buy/sell goods, or read market trends. He even sliced his way in to a small class "Hyperdrive Systems". He was only able to attend two classes before not only the teacher smarted on to his antics, but so did his father. This resulted in months of bouts of yelling between his mother and father over where his, Guiddeon's, life would be in the future if he continued to pursue these "childish dreams". Calus would remind his son of his disappointment regularly, while his mother, Silla, would encourage the boy to continue pursuing his dreams. This conflict of interests between the parents would lead to a more confusing late-teens for Guiddeon. Realizing by the age of 16 that he would need to tread a fine-line between Primary School (only two years left) and Craft School (secretly enrolled by his mother in "General Mechanics" - the start of a six-year program). He managed, for the better part of that time, taking up rudimentary work in the trade industry that he could make sure did not interfere with his other courses but helped alleviate the stress coming from his father. Shortly after Guiddeon graduated from Primary, due to the escalating conflict with The Sith Empire, would get the whole family lessons in Hand-to-Hand defensive combat training and basic blaster-pistol training. The boy showed more proficiency when it came to his melee skills than with the blaster, but he no less impressed his father. One of the few times he ever did. At 22 years, Guiddeon graduated from Craft School, having earned the nickname "Wrench", and now being able to take the exam to become a Licensed Ship's Mechanic within the Republic and start seeking the work he truly desired. By now, however, things had dissolved further between his mother and father, and subsequently him. His father, only months before, had learned what Guiddeon was up to this entire time. Infuriated by the both his wife lying to him, and his son refusing "the family business", he became estranged from the two. What little savings the family had, Calus took away from both Silla and Guiddeon, refusing to let them abuse his hard work any longer. Luckily, Silla had made enough credits through her work as a mid-wife to the social elites that she was able to keep both her and Guiddeon solvent as they moved from their old home to another, smaller apartment. Six more years would pass, with barely a word spoken between Silla and Calus. Guiddeon cared little for the estrangement of his father, and reveled in his newfound freedom. In this time, he would take any old job he could all over the space port, trying to save enough to take the exam needed to become licensed and finally get off planet. His mother supported him in this, but didn't make enough money to outright pay for the exam, so it was up to Guiddeon to figure it out, and much of his money went toward the regular bills they accrued to help out. Silla and Calus never divorced from one another, and stayed married, though living separately this entire time. Finally, by the age of 28, he managed to save enough to go take the exam. This, however, would be the last time his father tried to intervene in his future. Calus, finding out Guiddeon was about to take the exam would use his corporate connections to remove Guiddeon from the group, no refund on credits, and black-listed from work on Brentaal IV. The straw had finally broken, and in his rage, Guiddeon stormed in to his father's house and stole the credits he lost, his father's prized pistol, and a technician's tool kit before setting off back to home. He knew it was only a matter of time before something came of it, and told his mother he intended to leave Brentaal. He lied to her, that the money had been refunded, and he was going to use it to leave, go elsewhere in the system and make his own way, as far away from his father as he could get. She asked where he would go, and he simply said "Prazhi" and left. |
