O-Ate To-Fyve Full Name • "Alexei Mercer" O-Ate To-Fyve Nickname • Oh-8, or 2-5 Race • Human Birthplace • Coruscant Age • 23 Gender • Male Sexuality • Heterosexual Faction • Jedi Concept • Jedi Knight Languages • Galactic Basic, Huttese, Aqualish, Rodese, Shyriiwook, Mando'a Assets • Two lightsabers, one dual-phase, the other shoto, both black in plasma color with a contrasting white outline. A steel ball chain, cheap in design but always on his person. The chain was supposedly made by his mother when he was a small boy, he's kept it hidden after he retrieved it once becoming a Jedi knight. Appearance Face Claim • Tom Hiddleston Height & Weight • 6'2", 160 lbs Overall Looks • Tall, slender, and athletic. O-Ate boasts a tall frame, slender and fit body, as well as gentle but piercing blue eyes. Underneath his right eye shines a scar running diagonally just shy from connecting both his nose and cheek. He keeps a more disheveled look most times, just trimming his beard enough to maintain a "groomed" status, as well as keeping his hair long enough for him to slick it back or keep it hanging on the sides. His right shoulder has a tattoo that denotes "0825" written in an archaic text, as if machine grafted. Personality Profile O-Ate is very soft-spoken and restrains himself in a lot of situations that one might find harrowing. He cares tremendously for all life, as well as those of insects and animals, which comes full circle when you find out he isn't a people person. When people are around him, he tends to seclude himself, and he will be found meditating far away from groups of people. While others sit down and have drinks with their friends, he is generally working on his abilities, be it Force or physical. Some might take him as hateful to slave traders, and you wouldn't be incorrect. O-Ate does, in fact, hate the slave trade, and if it were up to him he would dismantle it in a heartbeat. At this conjunction, he knows that it is impossible, and working toward a lasting peace is the best way to try and rid the galaxy of slaves. He still finds it hard to see cattle prods, or whips as they were used on him, he is known to despise people who use whips as a weapon. Luckily, he has disciplined himself enough to hold his tongue, and have stopped himself from attacking slave traders or freeing those enslaved as it would jeopardize his mission. Background Father • Mother • Allana Mercer, Human, 45, Farmer (Clinically Ill) Siblings • Alexis Mercer, Human, 19, Barmaid (Safe) Other Important Connections • Overall History • Farmer, that is what O-Ate could have been, had he not been born with a gift, that gift being a curse and a blessing. The cliche and juxtaposition of it all were no longer benign to the world, as he was taken from his family for payment. His father, Trisgun got into massive debt in the Coruscant underbelly, which made it hard for him to maintain profits as a farmer until they gave him an ultimatum: Either he could pay with his family's lives, or give up his newborn son. Trisgun was fairly certain that they would either use his son for harvested organs or given to the slave trade, usually the former given how young O-Ate was at the time. Trisgun felt he had to give up his son after they forced his hand by threatening to take his wife instead, so as to not lose his entire family, he begrudgingly did so. With that, O-Ate was taken and if not for his innate link to the Force, he would have been harvested or perhaps worse. Even at his young age, he would move objects with the Force which made those that had him enslaved intrigued. It was too late to return him for fear of a Jedi looking for him, as he was already implanted with a chip, as well as the tattoo of "0825" on his shoulder dictating his new slave occupation. The only thing he was allowed to keep was a very cheap necklace his mother made for him, if not on his person he would cry endlessly. O-Ate was then transported to Hutt space, landing in Nar Shaddaa which he then found himself being sold off as an exotic slave. He wasn't quite old enough to take care of himself, at this time he was only three years old and could walk and speak a tad bit better than his age group. He was left to his own devices but was taught to clean/cook for those that employed him. The fact that he could move objects was a gimmick used to show off their slaves, but he could barely even do it, thus he was beaten a few times only to land himself being given away to a Hutt, this Hutt loved anything to do with Jedi, so to get a Force-sensitive child made him elated, so much so that he treated O-Ate with kindness to a degree. The Hutt taught him Huttese as well as how to write in Galactic Basic, as he was never taught how. O-Ate picked it up quickly and tried to make the Hutt happy, which was harder to do than usual, as he expected O-Ate to do all the things Jedi could, but that was just impossible, he could barely ever consciously use the Force. The Hutt's kindness wore off quickly, and O-Ate was thrown out once more, this time he was left for dead, left on the streets after being starved. Lucky for this kid, there was a Jedi on Nar Shaddaa on a mission, kindly he saw this child in rags on the streets fumbling through garbage, and came to give him assistance, perhaps some change to get himself something to eat. Upon seeing the child who was extremely emaciated, he was surprised, yet not too surprised as this was Nar Shaddaa. The Jedi kindly gave the kid some credits, only for him to drop one. O-Ate reflexively grabbed it with the force and lifted it back into the Jedi's hand, only for the Jedi to smile and ask the kid if he wanted to come with him. O-Ate knew nothing but Nar Shaddaa and didn't even know who this man was, but he was starving and the Jedi looked nice enough. Upon agreeing to go with him, the Jedi brought him to the temple for a sensitivity test. Upon getting things in order, they began to question him and asked what his name was and where he originally came from. O-Ate remembered nothing before being a slave, so he wrote his name as he used to back with the Hutt. "O-Ate To-Fyve," the Hutt told him that was his name, and he was happy to finally have a name. It was just a cruel joke played on him by the Hutt, unknown to him, and sadly it was the only thing he felt was "his." The Jedi were at first against the idea of him using a slave name that dug up his past, but he was adamant that it was his and that was what he wanted to be called. They saw little harm in the name, and so they allowed it. Unbeknownst to O-Ate, his father committed suicide soon after his sister was born. Wrecked with grief, he never forgave himself for what happened, and he took his own life. His mother who watched his father do it was changed afterward. She no longer responded to outside stimuli and only mumbled to herself every once in a while. The traumatic experiences after childbirth seemed to break her, and she was no longer safe to be a mother so Alexis-his sister was taken in by his aunt and uncle. O-Ate followed the path set before him, doing everything he was told as he once used to do as a slave. During training, he was given more freedom and his personality began to form around that, as before he was just someone who took orders, now he does it but has his own input he was allowed to give. Being able to learn and advance, he found himself caring about languages and dedicated time to learning quite a few, as well as fleshing out the Huttese he had learned from the Hutt. Moving up the ranks, he made it to Padawan, his master was kind and allowed him more freedom as he felt empathetic toward his past. Growing older, he became a Jedi Knight and has now set on his own path. |
