RP Sample: “A Jedi?” Xinder repeated, dubious.
“Indeed,” was the calm reply returned to him by the strange man who claimed to be a Jedi.
“I’ve heard of Jedi,” Xinder stated, “You’re like those gods or something, right?”
The man chuckled at this, “Not quite,” was all he said. It was obvious that what Xinder had said caught him off guard.
Xinder suddenly had an idea. He drew his lightsaber, though he didn’t activate it. The lightsaber drew the man’s attention. “Where did you find that?” Xinder really had his attention now.
“Around,” he stated vaguely, “Now then, you Jedi –assuming you are what you say you are- created these,” he paused searching for the word, “things, right?” he finally finished.
“Of course!” the man was really getting impatient, “Well out with it?”
“You know, for a Jedi you are really kind of impatient.” Xinder sighed, then continued, “I think I’ve gotten pretty good with this thing,” he said, waving the deactivated lightsaber in the air, “So, if you can defeat me, I’ll come with you.” Xinder smiled and a blue blade ignited from his saber.
The man’s eyes widened at this, and then his face contorted into a grin. “If I defeat you you’ll come back with me to the Jedi Temple?” The man repeated, gauging Xinder’s reaction.
“Of course, all I need is proof that you are what you say you are.”
“Well then,” the man began, reaching into his robes, “let us begin.” With that he pulled from his robes his saber, and activated it in the same fluid motion. Green and blue glows lit the alleyway in which they spoke. After a second or two of staring at each other, Xinder lunged at the man.
A loud crash, in a pitch that Xinder had never heard before, resounded as green and blue blades clashed in the air for a second. The man, in as small a motion as possible parried Xinder’s blow and flung him through the air. He quickly recovered himself, surprised that he had been blocked, unaware that lightsabers could deflect others.
He was surprised that he hadn’t been attacked, he was wide open, an easy kill as he thought. He glanced curiously at his opponent’s face, impassive, it looked as if he hadn’t realized that he’d been attacked not 2 seconds earlier. So he struck again, if more careful now.
The man seemed to be blocking his blows quite easily, so Xinder jumped back and lunged, blade arcing downward in an attempt to bisect the man’s head. This was easily deflected, and Xinder was flung upwards, using his new upwards momentum to carry him end over end, he landed neatly on top of a nearby building.
“Come and get me!” He called down. The man grinned and launched himself straight up onto the roof. Xinder frowned, “Maybe I made it to easy for you,” his face changed quickly to a smile, “I won’t do that again!” With that he charged.
They continued to clash blades, neither getting the upper hand, until the man put some force in a push. Xinder was shoved off the edge of the building. He panicked at first, then jammed his blue blade into the side of the building as he fell, cutting a rift in the durasteel. He quickly pulled the blade out and grabbed hold of the bottom of the hole. He hung there for a second collecting his thoughts, then used his free hand –still holding the lightsaber- to cut a hole in the durasteel nearby, large enough for him to fit through.
He launched himself through the hole and began to collect himself, when a green blade appeared in the ceiling, cutting what was almost a perfect circle. “Sithspawn,” he muttered, and readied himself for continued battle. The man dropped down, with a good chunk of durasteel dropping as well. He stood on top of the raised circle and stared at Xinder.
The only lights in the warehouse came from the green and blue blades, and the large circle in the ceiling showing the sky. Xinder charged what he felt was his last charge, the battle was short lived as the man parried Xinder’s first blow, then struck once more, knocking the blade from Xinder’s hand.
The blue blade disappeared without the finger on the activation switch, and the deactivated hilt clattered across the floor. Xinder watched it until it came to a stop, then looked up at the man who had bested him. He grinned, “I want to learn to fight like that!” he exclaimed.
The man laughed as he deactivated his green lightsaber, “You will, but fighting should be a Jedi’s last resort.” Xinder’s deactivated lightsaber launched into the man’s hand. “Always try to solve your problems peacefully.” He smiled as he handed Xinder back his lightsaber. “My name is Eon Tyruga, I think you’ll make a fine Jedi.”
