Birth place: Glee Anselm
Appearance:
Squee's Awesome Jaa Image
Jaa stands as a massive giant, tall and of great muscular matter. His eyes are as dark as his heart, and his skin shows the changes the Dark side has had on his body. He wears little clothing when training, and hardly adds much more even when on missions or travelling around. He sees little point in dressing for impressing the other members of the planet he attends, knowing that if trouble arises he will happily destroy anyone causing him problems.
Faction: Sith Order
Rank: Initiate
Previous Faction: Dark Jedi
Previous Rank: Marauder
Personality
Jaa is clever, but not a computer expert. Don't expect him to be able to hack through the Republic database or hold a conversation on antimatter converters. He can figure his way out of a situation, or in if required. His main strength lies in the Force and the lightsaber. Especially the lightsaber, which he can spend hours on perfecting singular moves. He does this because the way he gets to things is through fighting, more often than not. There are those he needs to kill, those he wants to kill and those who want to kill him.
He has a very defensive nature about himself following his life experiences which cause him difficulty in opening up past a very thin wafer. He covers over this defensive nature with an aggressive appearance and outlook, but the aggressiveness isn't always actual thoughts on an idea. The aggressiveness gives him a mixture of something that makes him feel stronger, and something that drives him towards perfection in his training. He may suggest wiping out an entire village, but would perhaps prefer to spare some members for his own reasons. He'd not want to mention what these reasons are - like a tugging on his mind that he can't explain, so he just keeps quiet about them.
Although he sounds more Jedi-ish at this point, it's the extent of his positive emotions. He's very up for killing people for no reason in the mood and is quite happy to utilise the darker Force abilities whenever he wants. He'd prefer to fight than call for a diplomatic situation, but that is partly because he'd prefer to test his abilities to see how his training is paying off. He is a keen tracker when he wants to be, and his natural senses are heightened through the Force, turning him into possibly the deadliest tracker around. With a body tempered by training and the size of a Wookiee, there's little he fears... except Sina.
Bio:
Birth to Training
Born on Glee Anselm, in a small community by the sea, Jaa was healthy and a blue hue, like his father. His mother was beautiful and a fair shade of brown. They loved their child dearly and doted on him, educating him in the ways of their people. Learning the language of their people underwater, developing swimming skills and reading their subtle cues. He learnt much during his 4 years, until one of the Nautolan Jedi on the planet found him. The Jedi had been travelling for several days around the planet on orders from the council to bring back younglings to the temple on Coruscant.
His ship's pilot was taking a break in a nearby town, and the Jedi had followed the Force's guidance to Jaa's small town. He arrived in the morning just as Jaa and his mother had went off for some swimming. His father was relaxing nearby. The Jedi had approached them, draped in a brown robe which had caused an initial reaction of fear in the parents. He calmed them, explaining who he was and why he had appeared uninvited and unexpected. He wanted to take Jaa to Coruscant for training. To be a Jedi.
Convincing his parents was difficult - they loved their child. The Jedi did not argue his point, but rather stated what would happen to him if he were to join the Jedi. He would be a force of strength, justice and peace throughout the galaxy. The parents were divided on the decision, but eventually came around and agreed to let their beloved child be taken away. It was emotional, especially for his mother, and when the ship left with the Jedi and several younglings aboard she sat on the shores and stared as her son blasted away into the stars forever.
Early Training
Other races were strange, Jaa found. They did not seem to talk underwater as he had been taught, and he found he had to adapt his voice to be able to communicate with others. This was rather difficult for him and he needed assistance from older Nautolans in learning to speak more fluently. He started off scratchy and with broken sentances, more from exhaustion than difficulty of the language. Studies were strange to the youngling, who had rarely used any form of electrical device. He had preferred the swimming around the sea beds and investigating marine life as a child. The change to the rooms and computer screens was unnerving. He never did get the hang of using a computer terminal, but could at least operate one for the basic things he needed.
Learning about the Force was interesting, and the Republic's history was fraught with wars and terrors. Jaa would sometimes imagine himself in one of these wars with the lightsabers he had seen the older students using. Great space battles and ground conflicts, Jedi and Sith clashing in the field around debris and other troopers continuing to fight. Artillery crashing about the field and fighters swooping low laying down a spurt of fire or running a bombing run over enemy positions. He wanted to be that Jedi leading the first charge over the debris to bring victory to his side.
Later Training
In the late stages of training he was instructed in lightsaber use with a training saber. The feeling and the realising of his current power coursed through him and all at once it felt ultimately natural. He picked up all the training the masters gave him quite easily, always eager for more, constantly practicing on technique. He wanted to be faster, to be smoother, more precise, longer reaches, wider arcs, deeper slashes, stronger blocks. He could lift objects with the force and manipulate things at an apt level, and he was knowledgable in a few things, but lightsaber combat brought him alive.
The masters noticed this and continued to feed his passion for the blade, but moreso to try to press upon him the importance of knowledge and the Force. He accepted this, knowing he should obtain a state of balance in the Force. Lightsaber combat alone would not be enough to complete him, but at the same time it was like a narcotic - totally addicting to him and unwilling to relinquish it's grasp. He would train late into the night, in all conditions. He would string together moves, even moves that would be awkward to move into from one to another. He was lucky to get away with as few injuries as he did, but he managed it. He was finally able to put together whatever moves he wanted, and be very unpredictable.
The masters soon understood that they would not be able to press Force training upon him much more, and that this Nautolan was in fact a great lightsaber student and should be treated as such. The first intention had been to introduce him to a Consular master and suggest their relationship, but a Guardian was finally agreed as the most appropriate solution. They called for Master Utaar, a human Guardian who was shown Jaa in training. He observed the youngling, impressed and feeling the potential. He agreed to take the youngling on as his padawan.
Early Padawan
Master Utaar was a strong, decisive man who knew well how to use a lightsaber. He was fast, accurate, devoted, and just everything Jaa needed as a role model. He was also strict and tough, though it hardly phased the young Nautolan who saw each test as a challenge he would overcome and become more powerful through. Tasks like blocking rapid blaster fire and avoiding his master's lightsaber swings were hard at first. However once Jaa found the trick to the challenge, or figured out how to manipulate the Force to serve him in this way, it was simple. Master Utaar was impressed but didn't want to show it in case Jaa got overconfident.
Their first trip took him to Ilum for his lightsaber construction. Guided by his master and the information he had seen in the archives, he spent two weeks constructing his saber. Finding the ideal casing, crystal and other components was difficult, but the end result was worth it. A blue saber which worked underwater, smooth with a grip ideal for him. His master congratulated him on the first achievement.
His master was pleased, happy to have a padawan who was so much like himself. Their missions together tended towards the more violent of outcomes. In more cases than not it seemed they had no option but to fight their way in or out. A trip to Corellia to investigate a droid factory would seem like a simple routine check, until resulting in them somehow running into a group of assassin droids which needed disposing of. Many of their missions followed similar suit, with the sound of blaster fire, explosions and alarms becoming common in their daily lives.
At first he found it almost overwhelming. Enemies shooting to kill, with many kinds of weaponry that they would not spare on the two Jedi. Master Utaar did his best to support his pupil during their first missions, knowing it would be difficult for him to understand how to behave and react in such situations. Even a master was not so accustomed to such events completely, but experience was an asset here. After each mission Jaa would discuss things with his master. They discussed why they fought and why such violence were the ways of the Jedi. His master understood his curiosity, and explained as best he could how a Jedi could not live a totally peaceful life.
They needed to defend people, and attackers were not always unarmed. They were sometimes harsh, but hopefully by killing a few men would save the lives and livelihoods of hundreds, maybe thousands. Ending the tyranny of one gang leader could spare a city of his rule. They did try and negotiate, tried and arrested rather than kill. It rarely ended non-violently. Jaa found it a pitiful way of life, to be killing in such a way, but at the same time it was exhilirating and exciting, and just the type of life he enjoyed.
Later Padawan
Following the mastery of Shii-cho at 21, Jaa felt a sense of accomplishment overshadowed by his want for more. More knowledge, more fighting styles. His master was pleased to provide. He began to teach Ataru to his padawan to compensate with his thirst for more, and his aggressive behaviours. The offensive style complimented him well, as his lightsabre skill and body were ideal for the acrobatic movements and strong strikes of the form. Understanding that allowing the Force to control more of his movements, it was at this point he studied more into the ways of the Force.
The missions they attended were progressively more difficult, some requiring many weeks or months of working undercover in order to get close enough to the head of operations to actually inflict some effect on the organisation. Jaa was proud to be under tutoring of his master. He was interested in his history, and could listen to his old stories for hours. He would sometimes talk of his old padawans, and their exploits, and what they went on to do later. There was one he talked very little about, but he seemed rather fond of. Further questions revealed that this padawan, a Zabrak female by the name of Kiff, had fallen under the influence of the dark side.
Jaa had often heard of the dark side of the Force, and it's lures. It's temptations and how it could sway even strongly willed Jedi to it's ways. His master told him more than he had ever learnt at the Jedi archives. How it could draw Jedi in without them knowing. It would be able to corrupt from within and a Jedi would find himself doing things he had never thought himself doing. To avoid it, devotion would be needed. Jaa agreed. The order was his life, and all that he could remember. They had given him just what he needed and he believed he owed them a form of debt.
Loss
The pair were sent on a mission in Selonia investigating a smuggling ring. The investigation was slow and it took a lot of restraint for Jaa to stop getting impatient or frustrated. It was just as they appeared to have a breakthrough with a lead, finding where the smuggled items were being held, when they were attacked. This was a dark Jedi, who appeared to be in concert with the pirate smugglers. He made banter with the Jedi, giving taunts and threats. A few moments later he was joined by another, and they attacked the Jedi, splitting them up. Jaa fought, utilising his impressive lightsaber skill against the dark Jedi who did not seem to be expecting someone as apt in saber combat.
They fought for what felt like ages. Jaa was confident - looking back maybe overconfident. His master's shout came to him like a beacon, as the other dark Jedi delivered him a fatal blow. His master, though strong at saber combat and experienced, had somehow been slain by this dark Jedi. Jaa did not know how he felt in those seconds as he saw the body slump to the floor. Fear. Sadness. Loss. But then anger. So much anger. So much hatred for the Jedi. So much want for revenge. He refocused himself on his combatant. His anger fuelled his Ataru. His first strike was harsh, and the only he needed to make. His blade smashed through the enemy's block and decapitated him in one stroke.
Turning to the other Jedi he moved towards him, anger seething from him. The other Jedi was his target. He would kill him. Justice would be served. The sabers clashed in a blinding light, and the force of impact caused both combatants to fall back a few steps. Jaa attacked again, rushing forwards and swinging low. A block. He spun round, and the dark Jedi blocked again. He continued to attack, fuelled by the Force in his single aim. He flipped, he spun, he continued to pound on the enemy defence. Finally there was an opening, and he took it. He plunged his saber into the enemy's torso, and it seared through. Kicking the corpse from the end of his blade he didn't waste time looking at the body.
He returned to his master's body. The life essence had left and soon he found the body almost dissolved, returning to the Force around him. The anger he had felt was gone, but it took more with it. It was like a feeling of emptiness that would not go away. He returned to the Jedi temple in low spirits, feeling he had failed. The man he had looked up to for so long was gone and would not return. The council may know what to do.
Trials
At the age of 24, Jaa returned to the Jedi temple. The elders sensed his loss and sadness. They understood - the pair had been close and enjoyed themselves enormously when together. The council told Jaa how Master Uraat had suggested he be entered for the trials several weeks before they were assigned their last mission. They agreed that the mission had been an important one for the Jedi padawan. The trial of skill - defeating the dark Jedi in saber combat. The trial of the flesh - losing his master and, though grieving, still returning to the council. The trial of courage - defeating the dark Jedi who had killed Master Uraat. The council agreed that this man would have been a very skilled fighter, and possibly close to being a master, if not already one.
The only trial remaining was his trial of the spirit. He returned to a meditation space and underwent his journey of self-discovery. He found himself angry and lost, not knowing where to turn. Who was he? A Jedi? Was he a Jedi? He didn't know. He continued like this for hours, maybe even days. Returning to the elders he knew who he was. He was a Jedi, a servant of the Force, and he knew he was strong enough to be a knight. The council agreed, and conducted his knighting ceremony. He was thankful, and left in slightly higher spirits.
Sina
For hours at a time he would brood over his master's death, constantly concerned about how he had let the anger wash over him. Without anyone to tutor him, it was up to him to figure out his feelings for himself. He attempted to do this while at the same time continuing to do missions for the council. They were greatly reduced in difficulty, as if they wanted him to get back into the swing of things. He was grateful in a way, but he did not need their pity. He was strong.
On one such mission he was posted to Kashyyk with a diplomatic envoy. He thought it a pointless exploit, as the Wookiees were not particularly aggressive, unless they were attacked themselves... or got angry, but what kind of idiot makes a Wookiee angry? The envoy consisted of a few Republic soldiers, some humans, a Twi'lek and a female Nautolan. Jaa was intrigued, as he had not seen a female of his own kind since his early padawan training, and even then it had been a passing glance as he walked with his master. He talked with her, hoping to get conversation going. She told him her name, Sina, and he found her pleasent company.
All the years of isolation from his own people had not affected him, though, and he found himself reading the subtle body language she exhibited without realising. He spent most of the journey there talking with her, and once on Kashyyk did not leave her side. She seemed to feel a similar way towards him, however. The talks with the Wookiees went well and on the way back Sina sent a message to the Jedi council requesting Jaa be a permanent diplomatic bodyguard. The council agreed for the moment, and Jaa was happy to hear the news.
They had a few more trips together, where they talked long past when they should be getting rest. Jaa knew he would not be allowed anything past talking, as it was the way of the Jedi to not love someone deeply. Yet he found himself infactuated with this female and he didn't know what to do. After a few months the Jedi sent a request for Jaa to return to the temple. He did so rather unwillingly and bade farewell to Sina. The Jedi wanted him for an important mission that would take a fair amount of time. He was to penetrate a slave trading ring and bring the leader alive with him.
The Slave Traders
Penetrating a ring was not easy alone. Not many groups were happy with taking on single members - they could be spies, or worse. Eventually a branch of the ring he was to take down took him on. He was left in a warehouse to manage the distribution of slaves across the area. New ones would come in on ships on a regular basis and would be transported to the warehouse on a conveyer belt. Wookiees, Twi'leks, Humans, no species were safe. Jaa did not particularly enjoy doing this job, but he hoped if he was efficient he could get promoted quicker. The entire time he wondered what others were doing outside, especially Sina, and he knew he missed her more and more.
Promotions did not seem to be happening for the Nautolan, as none seemed to be occuring at all. Taking things to his own hands he requested a quiet word with one of the supervisors alone. He ran the Zabrak through with his saber and slyly hid the body in a container heading for Bespin. He did not feel pity for the act, as the Zabrak was a criminal causing suffering to hundreds. The ring noticed a loss of staff and found a replacement was in order. They chose Jaa, possibly because he was a good worker, or possible because he was so much bigger and healthier than the rest of the workers.
As a supervisor he was to attend a few meetings of the branch, but nothing particularly important came up. He hoped for several months that something could be arranged which would give him a lead, but nothing did. One night he slipped into the head offices and poured through their files. Many references to a man named H, but no details until he found an accounting bill. Using the details from there he knew where H would be. Coruscant. He wasn't certain exactly where, but it would more than likely be in the lower areas of the city. He looked around for more information, but it was difficult to locate anything pinpointing this.
A chart was his ultimate answer, which displayed the locations of each branch of the ring. The biggest red dot would probably be where H was. Jaa smiled, pocketing the chart and knowing he had all he needed. At that moment the door opened and the head of the branch walked in. Stopping as he saw the Nautolan and the amount of information he'd worked through he drew his blaster, firing a shot straight for Jaa's head. Jaa flung his saber into his hand, deflecting the bolt before flying towards the source, slicing off an arm with his first swing, and then spinning, finishing with decapitation.
He did not know why he had needed to finish with the killing blow. It seemed, at the time, like the natural thing to do, as if it were acceptable. Looking at the body he realised for a moment how brutal he was becoming, but that passed in a moment as he also realised that someone may have heard him, and he needed to get to Coruscant immediately. Boarding a transport, he made his way there without much difficulty. He did not run into anyone else which made him believe the place may have been empty.
He arrived on Coruscant and headed straight for the place on the chart which showed where H would be. A guard stood on watch, demanding to know his business. Jaa tried to explain that he was from another branch and had been sent to consult slave trading with H. The guard did not believe it for a second, and swung a vibro sword at Jaa. He dodged, knowing he would have to fight his way to H, and leapt round the back of the guard. His saber was already in his hand as he plunged it into his back. The guard yelled, and Jaa knew he had mere minutes before H would be alerted and flee.
Using the Force to throw the door ahead of him away, he bursted through the facility, intent on reaching the top floor where the ringleader would be. Several other guards tried to stop him, but the Jedi was too strong at saber combat, too adept at killing and too focused on his goal. They were inconveniences and he dealt with them in single strikes. He went up several flights of stairs before arriving in a well furnished room. At the end table, before a vast window, sat a small man surrounded by guards. The guards charged, but he waved them off with a flick of his wrist, sending them flying through the window.
He approached H, informing him that he was under arrest. H did not really intend to be taken away, and pulled out a blaster on the Nautolan who stood more than 3 feet taller than him. Jace severed an arm and then ran the small man through. The council commended Jaa on his efforts, but were not happy that he had failed to bring leader to them alive. They decided to assign him once more as the political envoy escort. It had been over a year since he had seen Sina and he found he missed her more now than any time at the smuggling ring.
Sina and Litt
They were reunited on an elegant transport ship travelling to Corellia. Sina was as beautiful and pleasant as he had remembered her, but she was no longer alone. Another Nautolan, by the name of Litt, had joined her. Jaa had hoped for a while that this was just another politician, but he could feel this was not the case. Confirmation came within a few minutes of meeting them. They held hands, they touched, they talked intimately with each other, and Jaa could almost feel his blood boiling. He attempted to remain in control of his anger. They touched down in Corellia some time later, which Jaa felt had taken a lifetime.
Once on Corellia, Sina went to talk while Jaa and Litt waited outside. It was at this point that Litt first conversed with Jaa. He said that a Jedi life must be interesting, but followed on with talk of how he enjoyed Sina's company. How he was happy to have her. How he loved her, and how glad he was that no one else had taken her before. The final stroke came when he started discussing more personal details, and the pent up rage in Jaa suddenly manifested by him grabbing Litt's throat with the Force. The choking Nautolan was in a sudden state of shock as he was lifted off the ground for a few seconds and flung off the balcony to the ground several hundred feet below.
Minutes passed, and Jaa finally understood what he had done. He was no Jedi, and Sina would never love him now after he had murdered. He left. He would not return to the council. They would disown him, or kill him. Besides, what help had they been? They had sent him and his master on missions. Missions that got his master killed. They had sent him away from Sina and let her be taken by someone else. They had done this to him, it was their fault. His fear of the council turned into unbearable hatred for them. The only people he had loved and they had caused him to lose them.
The Dark Jedi
He spent months alone, feeding on the darkness within him just as it consumed him. He made a living taking what he wanted. The feelings of others no longer concerned him. He constantly looked for anyone else who was sharing his pain, his suffering. There is so much misery in the galaxy, it would be assumed someone felt the same as him. He finally found the type of person he was looking for. A person strong in the Force, yet reeked of anger and sadness. He talked a little with this man, who went by the name of Uti, and they found they had a common goal in life now.
Uti explained how he intended to travel to Korriban and learn the secrets buried there. Jaa found this intriguing, and decided to accompany the other dark Jedi there. Once on Korriban they set about learning what they could about the ancient mysteries of the dark side, and in the process met up with a small group of other dark Jedi. Joining them, they remained on Korriban and continued to uncover more and more about the dark side to feed their power thirsts.
He spent several years there, training under the dark side. He found secrets there that the Jedi council had been keeping from him. Force lightning and Force grip were his specialities when not using the lightsaber. In combat, though, he excelled far past what he had been as a Jedi. His Ataru was nearing mastery and he had begun work on Djem-Sho and Makashi. He worked night and day focusing his anger into his strength. He would train with the saber, then train with the Force, fuelled by his hatred for the Jedi, his desire for Sina and his anger of losing Master Uraat.
He developed a keen sense with the Force, which was enhanced by his biology which let him feel and hear, see and smell more around him than others. The Force enhanced his Nautolan senses to the point that he could identify things that would go unnoticed to most Jedi unless they were aware of its presence. He was 28 when he first landed on Korriban and resigned himself to being a dark Jedi. He worked for years perfecting himself and not giving in, vowing to rid the galaxy of the Jedi scourge.
He changed over these years. He was no longer the same colour he had been born. The dark side washed over him, tainting his skin in an appropriate greyed hue. He changed saber colours, replacing his blue saber with a red one more befitting to the Sith ways. He was a powerful dark Jedi. He was stronger, faster, smarter and darker than most of the others around him.
The Sith Rise
Years of training in almost complete isolation finally came to an end when the Force reached out to the Nautolan to draw him to a place on Korriban's surface. Jaa travelled for days searching for the source of the calling like a moth to flame. He arrived at a gathering of powerful dark Force users, and he was recruited into the new Sith order. Its leaders had power beyond anything Jaa had felt before, including some Jedi masters.
He was sent on a mission with the Lord Eurachis, the man Xerron and his wookiee ally Zaaltarr the Madclaw.

The minutes felt like hours as the two Nautolans stood on the balcony. They were alone, since this area was off limits to anyone who was not part of the diplomatic party. They watched the city before them as Jaa tapped the railing rythmically with his fingers. He exhaled, feeling exhausted but at the same time very alert. He could not explain it. He did not have time, as the other Nautolan broke their silence.
"So, you're a Jedi? That must be an interesting life." Jaa wished he could pretend not to have heard that, or have a reason for leaving the area right then. Litt was a master of stating the obvious, it seemed, and furthermore he was filled with so many false beliefs that if you cut him open they would spill out.
"Yes I suppose you could say it's interesting."
I mean, with people shooting at me and my friends getting killed any all.
He sighed once more, knowing this conversation was not going to be a good one. He continued tapping as Litt fired off another statement.
"So how long have you known Sina? I must say she's never really mentioned you." The tapping stopped momentarily, and then continued again.
"We met a while ago. On a trip to Kashyyk." His voice was hardened.
"Well I must say I'm lucky to have her, she's beautiful." Stating the obvious again. Litt must be great at parties.
"Yes, she is." The words were harder to get out than they seemed. He had admitted it aloud for the first time.
"So have you ever... oh sorry. Jedi aren't allowed partners are they?" Jaa turned his head slightly. Was he taking a shot at the Jedi? Would this pathetic worm even dare?
"No..." He said it, interested in seeing where the rest of the conversation would be going.
"It's a shame, you really are missing out. The softness of her skin. I'm really glad she was available when I had found her. If she had been hanging around with someone like you I would never have dared. But we're together now, that's the main thing. It's a wonderful feeling you know." Litt was a moron. Jaa could tell this. He deserved to be locked up somewhere or killed. He would never be with her if the council hadn't sent Jaa away for a year. The tapping had stopped long ago. Fists don't make tapping noises very well.
"And at night... it's so wonderful..." Something inside Jaa snapped. Like a leash on an animal. His anger surged forward and before Litt could finish off his sentence he was dangling in the air, his hands around his throat. His expression was clearly fear, but there was surprise in there too. Jaa took the time to savour this moment.
If I can't have her, neither can you.
With a wave of his arm he threw Litt's body off the balcony. He watched it plummet out of view, but did not move himself to see the ending. He knew what he had done. He had freed up Sina for himself, but at the same time made her forever unavailable. He looked at the door. She was behind there, so close. They should be together, but now they'll never be that close again. He was a failure and had fallen. Sadly he walked off. He didn't know what to do anymore. Just leave.

Just leave.
