Name: Meira Valli
Race: Kiffar
Age: 24
Birthplace: Kiffu
Allegiance: Jedi Order, Republic
Status: Jedi Consular
Rank: Knight
Height/Weight: 5'5"/130
Appearance:
Meira is slim and toned, with fairly tanned skin. Her hair is jet black and usually worn in a bun with two long strands, each tied with thin white strips of cloth in a braid-like pattern, that hang down on either side of her face. Her eyes are an intense green which stand in sharp contrast to the black band tattoo that runs across her face. The tattoo is a mark of her clan, the Valli, and is about one inch thick. The band is a continuous line that runs from crescent marks on the backs of her hands, up her arms, shoulders, and neck, behind her ears, and across her eyes. She usually wears close fitted sleeveless tops so that these tattoos can be seen, though she will occasionally dawn the traditional Jedi, long sleeve robes.
Personality:
Meira has always been somewhat introverted. She is not lacking in social ability, but has always been a quiet and reflective soul. She is the kind to listen more than speak, and often defers to others, not from timidity, but from courtesy. A quiet optimist, Meira tends to seek the good in others and often gives the benefit of the doubt. In her younger years, this made her quite naive, but Meira has learned to temper foolishness with age.
All her life, Meira took to the Jedi code easily, and has only recently found herself truly tested in the tenants of the Order. The war with the Sith Empire has forced her to recognize the grey areas of morality, in the galaxy and also within herself. Nevertheless, her resolve remains and she is very much a Jedi through and through.

Biography:
Meira was born to the Valli family clan on Kiffu. Her clan is small compared to the others, but like the others, is very close knit. It was discovered when she was very young that she possessed the fairly rare gift of psychometry, the ability to read the memories of inanimate objects, by her uncle Evos Valli. Evos also had this ability and was a Jedi who had returned home to visit his clan. Evos ran a few tests and found Meira to be force sensitive. With a great deal of persuasion, Evos convinced the clan elders to allow him to take Meria to the Jedi Academy to be trained in the ways of the force.
As a youngling, Meira was a quiet and introspective pupil. She learned quickly to quiet her mind and listen to the force. Her outward expressions, such as combat, lagged slightly, but were not poor. Her uncle would look in on her from time to time, when he was at the temple, checking on her progress and even spent time with her, sharing stories and traditions of their people. Though he was often questioned on this, Evos insisted that the Kiffar were deeply rooted in family and ancestry, and that a knowledge of her history would boost Meira's confidence. And it did. By ten, Meira seemed more lively and comfortable, soon catching up in saber combat skills and even surpassing many other younglings in unarmed combat. This, along with her continued strengths in introspection and meditation impressed her instructors.
Around her twelfth birthday, Evos returned to the academy and announced that he would take Meira as his Padawan, again stirring up some of the Jedi masters. Eventually he would have his way, again relying on the traditions of the Kiffar to support his argument.
Under the teachings of her uncle, Meira flourished. Aside from continuing her education in the Shii-Cho form, Evos also began Meira's instruction of the Soresu form. Meira took to the defensive and calm form quickly, as it easily fit with her personality. She constructed her lightsaber, taking two months to complete it. Evos teased her for it, but Meira refused to move too fast. As a reward for such diligent work, Evos offered Meira a rare purple crystal that he had found in the caves on Dantooine many years prior. He had told her he felt it call to him, but not for his own blade. It wasn't until this time that he realized that the Force had led him to guard and infuse the crystal until Meira was ready.Meira accepted the crystal with great awe and meditated with it for many days until it felt right. She then added it to her lightsaber as the finishing touch. The result was perfect match to her personality and style.
By age 15, Meira returned to Kiffu for the first time since she had been taken away. Her clan rejoiced in the return and bestowed Meira with their traditional tattoos. Meira enjoyed the time she spent with her clan, but did not despair when she and Evos were called to leave.
The next six years guided Evos and Meira across the galaxy where they mediated over contract disputes between between the banking corporations on Aargau, escorted nobles through hostile space, and most recently aided in a Saurin revolt against a totalitarian General Zhut on Durkteel. Though the revolt was a success, Evos was terribly injured in the battle.
Meira managed to bring Evos back to Kiffu, where he died among their clan. Meira constructed his funeral pyre and allowed his body to burn. The clan collected the ashes and constructed a small memorial to him where they are kept.
Meira returned to the Jedi temple to relate the news of Evos' death. Though she was close to acceptable age for Knighthood, the council determined that she had not passed all aspects of the trials. The trials of Courage and Flesh had been deemed passed through the reports of the battles on Durkteel and the death of Evos, but the trials of Skill and Spirit still remained. As a means to determine her readiness to move up among the Jedi ranks. Meira was sent on a mission to help settle a civil uprising on the matriarchal planet of Devaron. Master Vreem Took was also sent on this mission to observe Meira and then report back to the council.
The mission to Devaron was a success. (No details at the moment, as this was an RP mission that... died.) Upon her return to the temple, Meira was knighted and now serves the Jedi Order as a Consular.
Surprisingly, Meira took a padawan very soon after her ascent to Knighthood. Though it might have seemed to occur by chance, but as all Jedi know, there are no coincidences. Meira sought advice from Master Took, and eventually approached the strange blue skinned boy that she felt the Force was calling her to. Though both Meira and Arichi were somewhat young, the Council agreed to allow Meira to train him.
Their first outing from the Temple as Master and Padawan was to Ilum so that Arichi could build his own lightsaber. Amazingly, the boy was drawn to two purple crystals, an extreme rarity in the overwhelmingly green and blues of the caves. Through the Force and Meira's guidance, Arichi slowly constructed two mirror imaged lightsabers. Meira and Arichi both returned to Coruscant and set to training in the Niman style so that Arichi might learn the finer points of dual wield combat.
While on Coruscant, Arichi and Meira were called to the Council and given a seemingly simple assignment. A garbled message had been received from the Shiritaku Botanical Facility, an agricultural outpost on the distant planet Bakura that many members of the Jedi Agri-corps work at. They were to investigate and report back to the Council.
However, upon arrival, it became evident that there was more than simple communications problems. Meira and Arichi were attacked by droids and then gassed. Seeing no other possible way to gain access to the facility, they allowed themselves to be captured. Once inside the facility, more became clear, though not better. The two were subject to questioning by Dark Jedi. Beaten and cut, Meira did her best to protect Arichi, who had managed to hide one of his lightsabers in his shirt out of sight. At the last moment before one of the Dark Jedi's blade came down on Meira, she rolled to the side, summoning Arichi's hidden blade.
With no hopes of winning the fight, Meira could only hope that her lack of speedy report to the Council would alert suspicion. Luckily, she was right. Just as one of the Dark Jedi pulled down the roof over Meira and Arichi, Council Member Rhissai stormed in to help. (more details to be added when the thread it done)

Meira's hands shook as she took hold of the controls. Her breathing was shallow and uneven. She flipped the ignition switch and heard the engines hum as they warmed up. Her hands moved on their own, adjusting pressure, closing the hatch. Her eyes automatically scanned the seat next to hers, even though she knew it would be empty. Another switch and the landing gear retracted, leaving the ship hovering in the air above the platform.
From a short distance, movement caught Meira's eye as she went over the final checks in her mind. At the edge of the platform, a number of her young cousins jumped and waved their arms wildly. Meira smiled and waved back as she pulled the controls back and sideways, causing the ship to rise and turn. When she cleared the landing zone, Meira punched in the coordinates for the Jedi Temple, engaged the autopilot and sat back in her chair with a heavy sigh.
Again her eyes glanced toward the empty seat next to her. The air was thick with emptiness, and Meira almost laughed at the contradiction of this thought. Removing her safety belt, Meira stood from the chair, exiting the small cockpit into the main hold. The shuttle was small, consisting only of the cockpit, the main hold, which held little more than what was needed to get from place to place, and the engine room. The hold had space for necessary containers, a table or work station, and two bunks fitted into the walls. On the table, lay an object Meira had been avoiding. The electrum seemed to glow, giving he lightsaber a warmth that was almost tangible. Meira had seen it countless times, but only now did it seem to call to her. She had been resisting it's call for days, ever since Evos' death.
Meira had been shaken deeply by his passing. Evos was not only a teacher, but family as well. And in spite of the Jedi teachings against attachment, Meira knew that their bond as family held the strength of her entire clan, living, dead, and yet to come. It was an obstacle in her training, she knew, but she also knew that it was a part of her that she could never let go of.
Her hand reached out tentatively, and she held her breath as her fingers touched the lightsaber. Her eyes closed immediately on contact as the memories of the lightsaber flowed into her mind. It held so much history, that Meira had to exert a great amount of will to slow it to an understandable pace.
She saw her uncle, young and bright eyed, constructing the saber carefully, with great attention to detail. She saw his ceremony after passing the trials and becoming a knight. She could hear the hum of the blade as accounts of battle after battle played before her. She saw herself barely walking, being chastised for touching it. And then soon, she saw herself growing up under Evos' teachings. Then the battle on Durksteel, and Meira dropped the saber back onto the table. She had seen those events quite clearly, and did not wish to recount them so soon.
With another heavy sigh, Meira stepped away from the table to the center of the hold where she sat down and crossed her legs. Focusing on her breathing, Meira allowed her thoughts to drift out of her mind. She would need to settle herself before she reached the Temple. It was time to prove that she was ready to face the trials. But if the council decided she was not ready, then it would be time to focus on humility and obedience. Either way, Meira slipped into meditation, allowing the Force to flow through her, calming her and preparing her for what lie ahead.
