Official Weapon Name: X-69 Seismic Charge Rifle
Faction/Affiliation: Fringe/Black Market
Classification: Seismic Charge Rifle
Manufacturer: Fortuna Industries
Dimensions-
Length: 1181 mm
Weapon Weight: 5.0 kg
Magazine / Power Cell Capacity: 30
RPM: Semi-Automatic
Projectile: Concussive Shock Waves
Projectile Speed: 1000 m/s
Other: Recoil Stabilizer
Description:
Mechanics: Originally this 'rifle' was a seismic pulse emitter used commonly on asteroid mining colonies to blast and clear away smaller sections of rock by using small-scale seismic charges. However, in their pursuit to manufacture even more potent, if not unconventional weaponry, Fortuna gutted said pulse emitter and retrofitted the technology into a rifle frame, complete with recoil reduction technology to compensate for the massive recoil of setting off a seismic charge inside of a rifle as opposed to a more rugged emitter frame.
The principle of the rifle is simple, a small seismic charge serves as the ammo, detonating when the trigger is pulled. The resulting kinetic force creates a contained shock wave which rapidly moves down the barrel and exits in something of a capsule which then steadily flies toward it's target like any projectile would, hitting with massive force due to the sheer pressure of the contained energy and detonating on impact which creates nearly two meters of splash damage due to the volatile release of the, til then contained, shock wave.
The recoil from firing it is still significant enough to send it's firer back several steps with every shot, even with the recoil stabilizer, and the splash damage makes it extremely dangerous to use in close combat.
