Castes
The Aahhsh society possessed no social hierarchy before their discovery by galactic colonists, nor do they now. They have, however, established a loose caste system to better acclimate themselves to galactic civilization. Transition into a caste may occurs when and as often as an individual desires it and no special qualifications or ceremony is required. The castes are as follows.
Eplomah - The diplomatic caste. This caste is made up of those Aahhsh who are willing to give up their longevity to interact with the other civilizations of the galaxy. They serve mainly as ambassadors but may choose to fully intergrate themselves into another culture. Most eplomah are fluent in multiple languages in addition to to their telepathy.
Ciesas - The scientist caste. Scientific study is relatively new to the Aahhsh, but those who show an acute curiosity in the functions of the galaxy around them may choose to become a ciesas. Like the eplomah, many ciesas choose to leave their planet in order to better observe and study natural phenomena and technology of other races.
Hisori - The historian caste. Most Hisori remain on Aahhsh to try to unearth a past shrouded in time. Since the galactic community elucidated them to the extraordinary wonders right in their own star system, many Aahhsh have become understandingly curious about their lost precursor civilization. While few Hisori leave the Hera system, some will travel to the mysterious artificial moon or to the even more confounding ringworld.
Socierr - The guardian caste. While warfare has been a foreign term to the Aahhsh for millions of years, it is of great consensus that there is much unneeded violence in the peoples that now now surround them. As such, individuals took a stand and learned to bend their weaves in such a way that would allow them to defend themselves and their people from harm, should it seek them out. The socierr caste are not warriors and will take offense at being termed such--their techniques are potent but non-aggressive and the wielders prefer deterrence over lethality.
Hiiahra - The civilian caste. Also referred to as 'casteless', the hiiahra almost never leave the safety of their homeworld. Having not chosen one of the other castes, these Aahhsh lead a simple life tending to family and gathering food for their communions.
Oddly, there is no religious caste of the Aahhsh who believe themselves all equal in the eyes of Incramesh. Some individuals, however, will often volunteer to instruct youth in their abilities.
Lifestyle
On their planet, the Aahhsh live in small 'communities' of one or two hundred individuals. Within these groups, all members are obligated to attend to the needs of their family. While this sounds fairly normal, it is of simple understanding to the Aahhsh that all living beings are their family. It's...well it's basically communism, only it works. Yay! Unfortunately, since their slight integration into the galactic community, Aahhsh are extremely easy to take advantage of. If asked a simple request or favor, they must fulfill to the best of their ability. This passive nature is borne of a culture evolved beyond the need for greed. Apparel is present, but simple. Usually loose-fitting fabrics woven (physically, not Woven woven) from fibers of a light blue grass grown purely for this purpose. Simple, but extremely comfortable.
Marriage is one of the few remaining social ceremonies of these people. The communities themselves are defined by a sort of spiritual web that links the psyches of all who make it up. This telepathic connection allows individuals to communicate easily over moderate distances using those nearby as a sort of stepping stone for their message. Those who choose to live alone as a wandering hermit may temporarily connect themselves to another community's awareness but will instantly be recognized as an outsider.
However, a male and female who wish to undergo the rite of Arh-fererr take this connection another step forward. In a ritualistic stand-off (later developed into the K!et-suul used during the Assimilation Era), the two Aahhsh will begin to create their own weaves about one-another. Such a display in completely invisible to the human eye but to other Aahhsh and even some Force-sensitives, it will appear as a dazzling dance of colored threads. At the climax of the rite, the participants weaves will merge into one synchronized dance of the minds--the two forever merging into one consciousness.
Young Aahhsh are incapable of making any sound until about the age of 17 at which point their paltry vocal chords are developed enough to handle the wispy language of their people. Mothers must pay very close attention to their children during this time as they will be generally unable to express hunger or thirst until their telepathic abilities develop adequately at age 2. However, at this stage their telepathic expression is still vague, only capable of projecting base emotion with little coherent ideas behind them.
Once they reach sufficient age (usually around 25), they will begin to help forage for the community. Unlike conventional foraging of primitive civilizations, foraging on Aahhsh requires very little effort. The Terakash bioengineered several remarkable botanical creations: fruit-bearing trees and bushes with extremely nutritional year round yield. Even more remarkable is that they only grow (and grow generously) around Aahhsh communities. Their growth is triggered by harmless IR radiation projected from a series of beam emitters across the surface of the planet's artificial moon. The monitoring AI within this satellite tracks concentrations of Aahhsh genealogy in order to pinpoint the creation of this resource.
There is little biodiversity amongst the living populations on Aahhsh--with an ecology stripped of harmful microorganisms, there is little need for it--with 99% of wildlife herbivorous, living on the wonderfruits of the planet's flora. This includes the Aahhsh themselves who possess a simple digestive tract only adequate to process these fruits. Human botanist Paricia Mao describes the flavor as pleasantly sweet and "much better than NutriPlast."
Incramesh (The Weaves)
The Weaves have been an integral part of Aahhsh society since their first wielders brought them to bear at the climax of the Artifice Era to quell the conflict that may have destroyed their entire system. Referred to as "Incramesh" by the people of Aahhsh, most other societies know it as "The Force". It must not, however, be taken to be an identical energy. While there is little debate that they are of the same universal energy field that surrounds us, penetrates us, etc. etc., the Aahhsh wield it in such a manner more akin to how one weaves a basket or crochets an article of clothing.
To fill the niche of material possessions, the Aahhsh have evolved in such a manner that they have learned to construct coherent forms from Incramesh. This "meta-matter" takes two forms: Sah--a solidifying, quicksilver-like substance--and Phara--a semi-translucent high kinetic energy substance that glows a gentle blue in relation to the speed it is traveling at. With these spiritual extensions of their will, they can make up for their frail physique and technological shortcomings. The extent to which they can use their Weaves can be tracked a simple ranking system imposed upon them by the IGSA division of the Republic of Free Systems. These incramesh ratings or i-ratings, rank from 7 to 0.
i7 - The telepathic awareness of an average human being. An individual of this level may once in awhile subconsciously perceive the Weaves around them, but are unable to manipulate them themselves.
i6 - Naturally sensitive species, such as the miraluka or the rilan, with no formal training will generally fall under this category. An i6 may be able to passively observe the Weaves and even create a few rudimentary ones of their own. Aahhsh infants are i6.
i5 - An Aahhsh usually moves to this level around age 4-6, however from this point any further levels of awareness are determined by personal experience. Individuals of an i5 rating are usually taken to the Jedi at an early age for instruction. An i5 may naturally observe and manipulate the Weaves but are not yet proficient enough to bring forth stable manifestations.
i4 - The strength of a high-level padawan or knight, an Aahhsh of i4 rating may begin to create coherent manifestations of Incramesh through the manipulation of powerful Weaves. The art of creating sah is generally practiced before learning to supplement it with phara.
i3 - An i4 Aahhsh will create his/her first sah-phara, signaling the transition to i3. The long, silver staff topped with a glimmering orb of phara represents their mastery over the Weaves and signals them as one with whom to seek answers. Jedi and Sith masters may be considered within the i3 range, which is generally the level of an adult Aahhsh. It should be considered, however, that a vast majority of Jedi and Sith are not Aahhsh and thus the i-ratings are hardly a proper method of measuring them. Aahhsh at this level can create fair amounts of sah and phara at range of up to 4 meters (size/distance ratio present, but may not exceed approximately 60 meters).
i2 - Older Aahhsh may reach an i2 level. Very few Force-sensitives outside the species reach this level of telepathic mastery, though their skills in other areas may far exceed an Aahhsh individual. Some i2s have been known to create remarkable structures imbued with both manifestations of incramesh at a greater range than normal.
i1 - Once in a hundred generations an Aahhsh may reach this level of awareness--no beings outside of the species have ever reached it. An i1 nonetheless wields immense telepathic power capable of bridging gaps between entire communities. Having complete mastery of the Weaves, they can manipulate them to such extent as to weave around others' passively controlling their very surroundings. Most importantly, an i1 can slip through the Weaves of others, completely immune to their influence. Strangely, incramesh manifestations are rarely what Aahhsh of this power are known for, though the physical influence they hold is said to be absolutely astounding.
i0 - No individual in galactic history has yet to attain this level of universal awareness. This is simply because one who is an i0 would be able to form such weaves that would merge effortlessly into the universe itself, becoming an extension of it and the universe an extension of the individual. Needless to say, such a being would be akin to a god in the eyes of the Aahhsh and it is believed than one day an i0 will arise to bring all their people together and transcend physical being itself.
The Artifice Era
Approximately 3,689,000 galactic standard years ago, there existed a society of beings, much like this day's humans--the forgotten precursors of the Aahhsh race. Known then as the Tarakash, they possessed, by far, the most technologically advanced civilization in the galaxy. However, unlike the majority of our races, the Tarakash shunned galactic exploration, preferring instead to focus scientific effort and resources into their immediate environment. The result was system gone over with a fine-toothed comb; agricultural projects provided great surpluses of nourishment; seismic fields regulated the planet's core giving full control over weather and other once-natural phenomena; even an additional artificial moon with great moderation over their planet.
However, their most incredible achievement arose from a prehistoric need to preserve the species at large. Hundreds of thousands of years after the beginnings of their civilization, it was discovered from radiation dating that their system's sun would collapse and destroy their planet in the supernova in approximately 1.8 million years. From this discovery, unprecedented unity occurred as nations pooled their resources to become one planetary society dedicated to preserving their world. They would begin construction of an immense ring, completely circumnavigating their sun, that would produce a graviton field intended to literally hold it together.
Many private groups and radical societies opposed the creation of this ring, however. They believed that many other options, such as simply abandoning the star system altogether for a new home, should be the focus of their people and what was to be a time of cooperation broke into fierce civil dispute. A terrorist group launched a surgical strike against the ringworld--which had become known as Tre-Pharas in its early stages of its construction, nearly managing to destabilize the core reactor before a combined armada forcefully repelled them. This skirmish brought the dispute into full civil war.
For a thousand years, progress on the ringworld was halted as the Tarakash were once again split into warring factions. At the apex of this conflict, the central armada was turned upon its own people in a last ditch effort to restore order through attrition. Just before their world was to be forever torn apart, the reclusive group known as the Ver'depk, comprised of genetically altered individuals--the first of the Tarakash to be "Force-sensitive"--rose up to quell the fighting. Using their superior skill and mastery of a new unseen universe, they established their will over their people and took over the responsibility of the construction of Tre-Pharas.
The Era of Prosperity
Under the guidance of the spiritual Ver'depk, the Tarakash flourished. The bio-enhancements of their leaders became a commonplace procedure and, in time, a species that was once cut off from the mystic energies of the galaxy evolved to tune in with it naturally. The great communion was revived and all remaining resources at the eventually completion of the ringworld was distributed amongst the environmental sciences. Any remnants of the separatist dissidents were granted a great portion of the planetary armada--stripped of armaments--with which to forge their own destiny amongst the stars. None were heard from again.
In time, their world became a paradise devoid of pollution, illness, starvation, and warfare. The people of Kash moved on--transcending into a new stage of evolution and throwing off the bondage of innovation. With the natural need for progression suppressed by the utopia, their culture turned full circle. Life surpassed wealth, the Force guided them all in peace with the universe. For nearly 1.5 million years, time froze on the planet in their simple existence. The Artifice Era slipped from memory with all history no longer recorded, only simple values and techniques past down verbally through the generations.
While society froze, biology did not. A powerful AI in the artificial moon was tasked with preserving the planet's splendor, to safeguard it from ecological change. However, it had not been programmed to stunt its peoples' progression. In this new immaterial society the Tarakash evolved, their Artifice genetic modifications permanently bonding with their genetic code making every individual highly Force-sensitive. Over time, the Tarakash became the Aahhsh, their language simplified into more soothing tones as the need to speak became less prevalent--telepathy having become commonplace. Material possessions themselves became obsolete, even the simplest of needs (food, water, clothing, shelter) were considered of no one's ownership but rather the collective gift to all their people. An Aahhsh who hungered would shortly have food. An Aahhsh who required a home would be granted it generously. Peace reined an unreined society.
The Assimilation Era/Modern Day
Finding no necessity to leave their veritable Eden, the Aahhsh remained secluded from the galaxy at large until the first colonists discovered their system in 4,101 BBY. Welcoming such similar beings as themselves and finding their material needs curious, several Aahhsh volunteered to accompany the colonists into the throes of galactic civilization.
Having been completely unaware of the universe beyond their atmosphere since the Artifice Era, the Aahhsh marveled at these new peoples' generosity in preserving their planet. This greatly puzzled galactic society as they had hoped the newly discovered race could shed some light on the ringworld and orbital computer themselves. The ringworld itself is currently listed as one of the great galactic wonders, it's sheer mass far exceeding any other synthetic construct. Exploratory voyages to the artificial structure only brought rise to more questions as an ancient but incredibly advanced and impenetrable security system prevented any access beyond the surface. Several scientific colonies were established upon it, an artificial atmosphere and portions of terraformed geography making the ringworld quite habitable. However, despite years of study, only one word could be translated from the many writings and constant code frequencies radiated from the surface: Tre-Pharos. "Savior of Light."
Possibly found most curious by the Jedi and Sith, the few Aahhsh who left the planet were unfortunately unable to impart their techniques upon them. While the Aahhsh very much desired the unstable and often barbaric society that had discovered them to transcend into the 'perfection' they experienced, such teachings required nearly 100 years to accomplish even for their own people. While most lived to be over 1,000 years of age, a significant obstacle prevented their teachings.
As Aahhsh was long ago purged of all harmful microbacteria and other health hazards, physical illness was nearly unheard of, leaving its people with extremely fragile immune systems. As such, those who left the planet did so knowing their time was soon to end. Even with life support, an off-world Aahhsh has only ever lived a maximum of 54 years. Rumors have spread of individuals who have traveled to Aahhsh in search of the enlightenment its people offer. However, with an ecology like a sterile petri dish, these pilgrims may just bring about terrible destruction to these fragile people.
Travel to Aahhsh currently requires Orange Level clearance by the Republic of Free Systems and full sterilization is required before one may step foot on its surface.

NOTICE
Travel to Aahhsh currently requires Orange Level clearance by the Republic of Free Systems and full sterilization is required before one may step foot on its surface.
