Well, I guess here is where I'd report a problem I seem to have.
When I copy/paste from a word document to here, the result isn't fun. Apostrophes and quotation marks get replaced by wacky symbols. I couldn't even see them until I pulled up the page on Safari instead of Firefox.
I have no idea what's up with it.

I believe this thread's purpose is more regarding the Custom Technology section... But as for your issue, I've had similar issues myself from time to time, not always getting the formatting symbols, but sometimes my apostrophes would mess up. I did a little Googling, and maybe some of these will help, depending on which version of Word you have, I think: www.computing.net/answers/office/ms-word-permanent-weird-symbols/7110.html

Use Openoffice.org . It's free, superior in every possible way to Microsoft Word and won't cause these issues.

The forum uses a different coding layout than MS Word (Microsoft can be rather pig-headed as far as software compatability with the market at large goes, though I guess that's to be expected when they pretty much are the software market at large) and thus many symbols, punctuation, and text formatting get lost in translation. The easiest solutions are to use a different program such as Open Office (or wordpad if you don't mind doing your own spellchecking--usually more accurate than automated anyway) or to omit such formatting until such a time it has been pasted into the reply box. Font type may have an impact as well.
But yes, this is for imaginary custom tech on the site.

Duly noted for the future. But on the bright side, I *did* get the answers.

Yeah, the formatting issue can get a bit annoying. X) I used to be on another forum that was even worse about it. I tend to work around it by typing in notepad, which has the advantage of being nice and clean, and with BBCode, you have to use tags for formatting anyway. X) Then, I spell check when I paste it in Firefox. Or, I just write the whole thing in Firefox. xD It auto-saves and spell checks.
Anywho, was on my way through and thought I'd give my two cents. X)

I appreciate everyone's advice. I have a Mac, so now idea how TextEdit will work compared to wordpad.
I'm also going to try saving my Word documents in a different file type, like rtf and see if it has any impact. I have a bad habit of planning out posts waaaay in advance to keep me busy while I wait, but going through sixteen pages of saved up posts and replacing every bit of punctuation? XD
In the future though I'll probably just have to write them all in here.

Normally this would go on some sort of blog, but I think the information in this song is truly informative enough to warrant it being here. Listen to this while you sing along! www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNT8SMlqLJA♫ Particle shields, particle shields They protect you in an asteroid field Or maybe just a floating glove Particle shields Built to stop anything with mass Not very common on the fighter class What could be better than particle shields? Maybe some more particle shields. Deflector shields, deflector shields Deflector shields encompass particle shields One is the other, don't add them both Deflector shields *Accordion Solo* Personal shields, personal shields Cover up your entire person -al shields Compared to others they have a lower yield Personal shields You can put em on a battle droid A mechazoid Or Sigmund Freud But watch the mods or you'll be destroyed Restricted shields, personal shields Ray shields, ray shields Takin' hits from any lasers you wield Do not touch or you'll need to be healed Ray shields They can stop fire from a space station They can stop lethal radiation Never leave port without ray shields Improtant shields, ray shields Deflector shields, deflector shields Deflector shields encompass ray shields One is the other, don't add them both Deflector shields ♫ *Accordion Solo* That's right. I rewrote particle man in the shower in reference to Star Wars shield technology. I have truly reached my low point in life.

I figure I have this little corner of my own to do what I will within, so I'm going to use it to attempt to popularize what may grow to being the greatest (and first) SWUmeme of all time! BEHOLD! That's right! It's Euclidius Abscissa, the nerdiest Bith in the galaxy (and that's sayin' something if you know anything about Bith). His word is law. Know why? Cause he's an arithmagic-wielding Mathemamythic! For example: Go forth! Spread the wisdom that is Euclidius! Spread his wisdom to the stars and back!
