Faction: Sith Empire
Department: Navy
Rank: Captain
Name: Cortan Dalis
Race: Human
Age: 26
Height: 6 feet, two inches
Weight: 187 lbs
Birth place: Dantooine
Appearance: Captain Dalis stands a little over six feet tall, his firm physique making him seem like some indominatable wall to those on the rather short side of things. His eyes and hair are the same shade of brown, though his hair is kept tucked beneath his cap. His uniform is fairly regulation, blue grey, various pins showing his ranks, reccomendations, etc. However, there is one thing to it that most will easily notice. There is a lightsaber, a trophy from one of his earliest campaigns.
Personality: Dalis is known by some to be one of the few men in existence who could rival a sith lord in his ruthlessness. Failure is not permitted by him, and those who fail will be executed, so they do not bring down the rest of their group. However, it is possible to convince him to let a man live despite those failures, though it would mean they would have had to accomplish/obtain something of value to compensate. He cares not for the innocent lives lost in the war against the republic, believing that they are merely the building blocks for a better order.
He respects the chain of command, however if he believes his superior to be too sentimental or foolish, he will go to great lengths to have them removed. Though, he is sure of his limits, and would never attempt something so foolish on a force user unless he was certain of his success. What he truly despises however, with all his soul, are non-humans. He believes them vermin, a plague upon the galaxy which must be eradicated. There's a reason his ship is one of the few where the crew is 100% completely human.

Bio: Cortan is but one of many within the Dalis family line to take up duty within the military, but one of the only to serve against the Republic. His story began on the farming world of Dantooine, which after being bombarded by the Sith fleet some hundreds of years prior, was enjoying a relative peace. Since that time, it had become a frontline world for the republic's galaxy spanning fleet, the man in charge of those stationed at Dantooine known as Dokora Dalis. Just as his father, and his father before him, and his father before him, Dokora intended on raising his son to be a great Captain within the republic fleet. And so, Cortan was trained.
Dokora used his connections to call in some of the best trainers available within the galaxy. From ex-politicians, to other Captains within the fleet, and even a couple bounty hunters and Jedi. Each imparted some of their knowledge, wisdom, and skills onto the young Cortan. However, much of what Cortan learnt, was from researching of his own course. This was done in private, as his father would have been unlikely to approve.
After all, Dokora had called in the boy's teachers from within the republic, teaching him standard things respective to their trades. What Cortan was particularly interested in however, was understanding how the 'enemy' worked. Of particular interest to him, were the people that had devastated his planet centuries earlier, as well as much of the galaxy. A so called evil that was said to have died out many times, but always came back to show the republic that they were very much alive: The Sith.
The Sith were brilliant masters of warfare, as was expected of those who opposed the powerful Jedi Order. Their attacks often came with little hint or warning, and whenever there were signs, these were used to bait the republic into a trap. Then came the full on wars. The Sith's plan was simple, but extremely effective: rush the outer rim colonies before the main republic fleets could hope to deploy in time, and then wait for the ill prepared fleets to arrive, and be destroyed. And as the republic fleet tried to defend their targets, the Sith would already be on the move.
Most common (and famously), they would make their way straight for Coruscant, thus dealing both a strategical and moral blow to the republic, even if there was ultimate failure. Revan and Malak even tempted their enemies to join them, meaning no loss to their forces, even gaining some in the process, as republic power dwindled. Even ancient artifacts of the once great Infinite Empire were used in the war. If Revan had not turned back to the light and destroyed the Star Forge (an event recorded in the diary of Cortan's ancestor, who was present at the battle), then Malak's victory would've almost been assured.
Time passed, and as Cortan continued his studies of the once mighty dark side users, his father took him up onto a capital ship for the first time. Cortan found the view of the bridge, looking over the entire vessel and onto the boundless reaches of space, simply awe inspiring. His determination to become a naval officer grew, so that he could experience this same sight every day. His father watched his son grow, but in doing so, began to see something there that shouldn't have been. To any normal person, they would not have noticed. But for a father, it was easy, to spot the hatred that was growing in Cortan's posture.
At age 18, Cortan was enlisted into the military, specifically its naval forces. His training, and subsequent assignments, led him to facing threats across the galaxy, though limited to small rebellions and criminal factions. His training, and his own initiative, led to him creating many a success for the republic forces he served in. His rank rapidly increased, as well as his reputation. To all who looked at him, it appeared the lineage of great naval officers was in safe hands.
However, during this time, an unfortunate case of coincidence led to an idea shaping in Cortan's mind. Every mission he'd gone on, the enemy had solely one thing in common - the enemy were non-humans. Driven by his own pride, arrogance, and ignorance, he began to come up with this warped belief that all sentient species that were not human were a threat to the stability of the galaxy. The signs of belief began to be evident in his command, as non-human crew members either suffered mysterious 'accidents', or were sent on what were blatantly suicide missions.
Eventually, realising that his acts would be noticed by the republic, Cortan fled outside of republic space, to the now growing 'Sith Empire'. Whilst he knew it to be nothing but in name only, he saw potential within this growing force. Offered the position of Captain aboard an Interdictor vessel, he began to sow his seeds of mistrust in aliens amongst the Sith fleet, whilst making sure his own crew were an elite, all human force. He intended to make his way up the system, and turn his will, into the will of the empire.
Then came the war.
Admittedly, even he did not see it coming at first, believing the empire not ready for a war with the republic. Nonetheless, he was ready to serve, especially when he saw what one of their first targets in the campaign was. Dantooine, his homeworld, though no longer guarded by his father. It was an easy conquest, so much so that the republic pretty much just gave them the planet. It was pathetic, and proof that the republic was weak and decaying.
Later, in a system at the edges of Sith space, Cortan had his first encounter with a Jedi as an enemy. It was a small transport vessel that dropped out of hyperspace, fast enough to just dodge his vessel's attacks on it. It latched itself to the side of Captain Dalis' ship, where it proceeded to make a hole in the side. From there, a Jedi and his strike team of republic commandos boarded the vessel, and attempted to take it. After all, not only would their success mean one more ship for the republic, but potentially a lot of tactical data.
Unfortunately for them, Cortan proved to tenacious to simply let his ship be taken. He managed to separate the Jedi from his strike team - who were killed without the Jedi to protect them - as well as remove his lightsaber via a powerful electromagnet which the ship used for moving heavy cargo and equipment. The Jedi however also proved resilient to concept of simply dying, killing well over a hundred men singlehandedly in the middle of the ship's hangar bay. Unfortunately for them, the act was tiring, and enough for Cortan to get in a good shot with a heavy duty blaster. The Captain claimed the Jedi's weapon as prize, deciding to wear it on his person.
Since then the Captain has not done much, merely patrolling systems as ordered to, whilst trying to find opportunities to expand the empire, and potentially be promoted in the process.

RP Sample: Captain Cortan Dalis watched over the bulk of his vessel, and onto the bow, as the engines of the Almighty gave a familiar hum. The lights of countless stars around the ship began to seemingly stretch, as the ship was catapulted into hyperspace. The view was one of the few things that consistently impressed him, no matter how many times he saw it. He wondered what it must have felt like to the Rakata, when they first unlocked the secrets of the hyperdrive. To first look out into the universe before their eyes and realise that they, and they alone, had dominated a universal constant.
He certainly knew what feelings they must have had after the event though. Visions, images of themselves conquering all that was before them. And indeed they did, creating an empire so vast, so powerful, that the best words people used to describe was the 'Infinite Empire'. It certainly made this so called Sith Empire seem absolutely tiny by comparison. His mind then wandered to the potential whereabouts of the real Sith, the ones that had nearly destroyed the Jedi. The most likely place would be the unknown regions, as that would mean it was outside republic knowledge and understanding - a perfect hiding place.
Of course, for all he knew, they could already be here. Manipulating things from the shadows was as known act for some Sith in the past, so why not modern ones?
In truth though, the only way he would ever have an answer is if he were to meet an actual one. And that was but a fleeting dream...
"Captain, sir."
"Report, ensign." His voice was stern, uncaring for whatever might be on the datapad that the young officer was holding.
"Our new orders sir. We are to report to Mon Calamari to reinforce the fleet currently station there." Oh goodie, he got to look over a planet of incompetent fish. What worth was there to even keeping such a world? They might as well just deal with the same way Admiral Karath once dealt with Telos. However, orders were orders. Perhaps he'd be able to string something together to his advantage later at some point...
"Alright then, take us out of hyperspace, and realign ourselves for the new course." He ordered, receiving an 'Aye sir' back. There was a silence on the bridge as the vessel dropped out of hyperspace, before making the necessary repositioning. His hand gripped the lightsaber attached to his belt, his face turning with this disgust. This was going to be a long assignment.
