SWU Summer 2010 Awards - NOMINATIONS

Okay, it's time for you to start nominating for the Awards voting!
I sent out the PM a few days ago now, and hopefully you're ready with your thoughts.

This will work just like this past winter Awards did. Having a two-part process seemed to go a lot more smoothly.

PS: I know quite a few suggestions were made for new categories, but there just wasn't enough time to implement any of them. But I promise the next set of Awards, there could be new categories.
However, I did add in a category for best faction/organization to hopefully alleviate confusion between that and best group.

Now to the main information:


Nominating Rules/Guidelines:

1). It's simple, really. It's pretty much the same as last time, except we're doing this in two parts; this being the first: nomination stage.

Fill out the below form (code at the bottom of post) as completely as you want. Don't feel a need to nominate someone for all categories if you don't want to. Just fill it out to the best of your ability. Any and all nominations will be awesome. It'll give us a bigger pool to vote out of for the second round of voting.

You may either post your nominations here in this thread, or PM them to me. Though, this is only the nomination stage, so there shouldn't be any need for anonymity right now. But, still, I will accept nominations either way.


2). Along with your nominations, you need to provide a reason for nominating that character/member. Just a few simple words will do. This is not to try to cause trouble or anything; we are recognizing the hard work of our members here. So try to come up with a well-thought-out reason for your vote, instead of making a random list or turning the Awards into a joke.

Also, for some of the categories, a link may be needed, i.e. for Best IC post. Plus, please list, for all the character categories, (including those with multiples, like Best Group) the member(s) who created it along with your nomination.


3). You can nominate only ONE (1) choice per category.

Your nominations must be for completed, accepted, active characters and not NPCs or inactive characters. (I don't think I need to explain active vs. inactive). The only exception are the bio (just the bio, not the whole application) categories; these don't have to be active characters, since they are only bios and aren't judged by RP posts.

You are not allowed to nominate yourself or your characters. This means you can't pick a duo/group/thread or anything else your character is involved in. (There are other characters, groups and storylines out there besides your own).

Since the Awards are only twice a year, you may still nominate a character/member who did win last year. MOTM/TOTM repeat win rules do not apply here.


4). You cannot nominate one (1) single character in more than THREE (3) character categories. Try to think of all the characters; not just a select few.
You cannot nominate one (1) single member in more than ONE (1) member category.



Any nomination not following any of the above rules will not be counted in the final tally to create the voting list.




Other Information:

Nominations will continue up to July 31st (or there about).

Afterwards, nominations will be closed, and the top 3 in each category will be tallied up, and we will begin part two: voting.

Character Awards:

Best Civilian Bio:
With civilians, the galaxy wouldn't be the well-oiled machine that it is. Here is your chance to recognize those behind-the-scenes, the movers, the shakers.

Best Military Bio:
The defenders of the Republic, or those that fight to tear down the governing powers. Recognize the best military character, before they even stepped into battle.

Best Fringe Bio:
Who just made you feel they were the scum of the galaxy, just by reading their bio?

Best Jedi Bio:
The carriers of peace and justice, using the Force for the good of the galaxy. Which bio after you read it, just screamed out 'Jedi' to you?

Best Dark Jedi Bio:
Those who wield the dark side of the Force. Here you can recognize the baddest of the bad. Which bio best embodies a dark Jedi?

Best Overall Bio:
Even before they’ve interacted with the other characters on the board, there are some characters who have an amazing back story, some are humorous, others heart-wrenching. But which is the best?


Strongest Non-Force User Character:
If you like a good fight scene, this is the award for you. In this Galaxy there are a flurry of characters all seeking to prove their worth, best their opponent, but who do you think is the best combatant?

Strongest Force User Character:
Jedi, Sith and Dark Jedi have all had their fair share of epic battles, but which is the strongest? The one you most certainly wouldn’t want to bump into in a dark alley.

Coolest Character:
Each character has their own air about them, but which is the coolest? The one which has a certain air about them which just makes you stare in awe.

Wisest Character:
The Jedi Masters, Sith Lords, generals, senators, aristocrats. They may not always be in the fighting, but their decisions echo across worlds. These are the proud teachers, the subtle plotters, the politicians and the strategist. The true masterminds.

Funniest Character:
Let’s face it, there’s always that one character who just makes you laugh when they post. They’re the comedy relief, the funniest character.

Most Unique Character:
You know they're out there, those characters that don't fit into any category. They're odd. They're off the wall. But without them, the story would be dull. These characters fit in where no one else would. Who is the most unique?

Best Hero/Heroine, male and female (2 characters):
Who encompasses all that is good in the galaxy? If you could call one character to rescue you, who would it be?

Best Baddie, male and female (2 characters):
The last guy you would want to be stuck with in a dark alley. Who strikes fear into everyone's hearts, sometimes without speaking?

Heart throb:
You know the guy. The one all the ladies swoon over whenever he enters the room. Who is the sexiest character on the forum?

Hot mama:
All the men turn into bumbling idiots when she's around. Just one smile from her and their hearts melt. Which woman turns you on?

Best Duo (2 characters):
For the dynamic duo out there. Which two characters know each other the best? Which two have the perfect connection between them that gives them a story all their own? To the padawans and their masters, the lovers, the friends, the drunk and the bartender.

Best Group/Team (3-5 characters):
Some characters travel in packs, either as a well-oiled team or a haphazard gathering of people with the same interests at heart. Who do you think is the best group in the galaxy?

Best Faction/Organization (6+ characters):
Let's face it, sometimes a few people just isn't enough. There needs to be leaders and followers, an organized and official plan to go about business. Whether a half dozen or three dozen, who's the best faction? [Here, there is no need to list all the characters, just the faction name. But, the not voting for yourself rule still applies].


Best Civilian Character:
This award goes to whoever you think is the best civilian, that character who sticks their nose where it doesn't belong, a senator that makes it his business to know everything, a celebrity who everyone loves. Simply, the best civilian on the forums.

Best Military Character:
That straight-laced man or woman who follows orders like no tomorrow. Whether defending the Republic or attempting to bring it down, or fighting for the glory of Mandalore, who is the best soldier around?

Best Fringer Character:
Smugglers, mercenaries, grey Jedi, all those shady characters trying to make their way in the world. Who best epitomizes "scum of the galaxy"?

Best Jedi Character:
That one Jedi character who best embodies the way of the Force, defender of peace and justice. This award goes to the best well-rounded Jedi.

Best Dark Jedi Character:
The shadows become alive. Simply, who you think is the evilest and best dark Jedi around.

Best Overall Character:
Best character is the award given to the character that is the most original, most thought-out, and most realistic. Simply the best character on the boards, the most well-rounded overall character.


Best Storyline:
This one goes out to the player who has come up with the best plotline, the one whose story captivates the reader and leaves them wanting more.

Best Battle:
This award goes to all the bloodthirsty players who can’t get enough of a battle. It can be a fight for an entire world, or it can be a fight between two characters. This is the one that keeps you guessing. The one where the people who aren’t even a part of it read and start rooting for one side or another.

Best Duel:
This award goes to those in the practice duel board. Sometimes the best battles aren't part of the storyline. Which is the duel that makes you wish there was just one more round, one last score to settle between two characters?

Best Post IC:
That post. Scroll back through the old threads and try to find it again. That one post that captured the moment perfectly. Where the writer poured everything they had into one solid post that was perfect. [Please post a link to the post].

At Star Wars Universe Roleplay we like to think we have a friendly member base, but who do you think is the friendliest? Someone who goes out of their way to welcome new members or to say hi or to help someone out? Is there a member who always manages to keep that upbeat attitude of theirs every single time you talk to them, can you think of a member who never ceases to be cheery?

Funniest Member:
With the odd bunch we’ve collected there are quite a number of jokers on the forum, but who makes you laugh the most?

Most Creative Writer:
Often the best writer doesn’t necessarily mean they’re that creative, but there are some who have a great imagination and they capture it in words extremely well. Great use of imagery, metaphors and similes to really create a beautiful scene for others to envision. Which member do you feel does that best?

Most Realistic Writer:
It’s not all about creating a great mental image, making the story and events seem real are also an important part of writing, so which member can do this the best?

Best Overall Writer:
The big one. Which player is it? The one who can write like no other? Write on all levels, from talking to another character, to fighting the good fight, to planning a battle, to the whole storyline. This is the one that you couldn’t have the story without. Someone who can write in just about any area. The Best Most Well-Rounded Writer at SWURP.

Best Fringe Bio: Mathathyper Chesheervyk (Twysper) Ok, this one was hard. I'm probably biased toward the Mythics, given the amount of involvement I have in that group. But, I must say, that Magnus, Iri, Math, Wulf, are wonderful reads that I'd recommend to anyone. However, I can only choose one, and as such I'm going with Twysper's Math.

Coolest Character: Jace Beleren (Jace)- He's the Grandmaster. He also has a proficiency with breaking noses and hurling things at people with the Force. Awesome.

Most Unique Character: Irriesorrie (Kellaishleya)- She's insane. Like, actually insane. And she's constantly broadcasting figments of her imagination around her. How neat is that? Just don't catch her when she's in an Etherium withdrawal. Oh, and let's not forget the whole painting thing. With blood... >.>

Best Hero/Heroine-- male and female (list both):
Levin Caelum (Dutch)- Oh man, I love Lev. He's a bastion of the light, devoted to its cause in all that he does. And he's a total stiff. gotta love him.

Best Faction/Organization (6+ characters): Space Wizards- because, for a faction that started as a joke, it's really turned out to be an interesting group, made up of a number of really neat characters. Am I not allowed to vote in this one? I swear I'm in every durned faction xD

Best Jedi Character: Roq (Kellaishleya)- He's powerful, he's wise, and, to me, he is the embodiment of what a Jedi should be. Kudos to Kella on him.

Best Dark Jedi Character: Alindra Vordrinn (nightender)- Is she the strongest DJ on the site? Not even close. But she's interesting, and a welcome break from the usual DJ tropes that pop up. She can be nice and personable, but she is, without a doubt, evil, as her proclivity for bathing in the blood of her enemies shows. She's like Elizabeth Bathory... in space! ^^

Best Overall Character: Again, I dunno


Best Storyline:

Best Battle: Di'Shan Pano vs Gabriel Alaris at Rhen Var (Otterling/WWFF)- I ate this up. To great writers, two great characters. It was amazing. All that needs to be said.

Best Duel: Isan Goma vs Norkos (Isan/somdude)- I've been following this one, and I rather like it. You've got two good writers, with two interesting characters going at it. Good stuff.

Best Post IC: The Amazing Race, reply #61 (Kellaishleya)- Ok, so Blanche has been the target of a city-wide chase at this point. She's been in a plethora of terrible situations, hauled around by people that want her dead, etc. and now, she finally snaps. And Kella did a wonderful job with it.

Funniest Member: sparrow- Sparrow has a knack for coming into the cbox at exactly the right time and dropping these one liners that are just awesome. I don't know if he lurks or has some really good timing or if it's some combination of the two, but I've gotten many a laugh from the cap'n's timely arrivals.

Most Realistic Writer: Dire Wolf- He's got a knack for describing things in his posts. And it's all done so fluidly that it doesn't read like he's trying to be overly-technical. It works, and it works well, as his posts are always a joy to read.

Best Overall Writer: Kellaishleya- Now, we've got a multitude of wonderful writers here, but I don't think anything gets me eager to read like seeing a Kella post. Doesn't even have to be in a thread I'm in; I just love reading her work.

Best Baddie-- male and female (list both): Cho Wroth (foxfire) and Gabriella Fisher (Jace). I think these two might actually be the only Sith active on the site right now that can actually claim to be insane/psycho.

Heart throb: Locke Nemsee (Rugs). Snarky, roguish, and just the right amount of scruffiness.

Best Dark Jedi Character: Alindra Vordrinn (nightender). Unlike most other dark jedi and sith, she's not all "Mwahaha, unlimited power!" It's kinda refreshing.

Best Overall Bio: Jace Berelon (Jace) - He's the Grandmaster, andhistelekineticlightsabercombatissekritly1000, so that is automatic best bio.


Strongest Non-Force User Character: Amy (MRS. Meira Von Galaxia) - she has mad skills, and she beats the crap out of puppies in her spare time.

Strongest Force User Character: Irisorrie (Kellaishleya) - I love her, and even thought she's going to get captured I'm pretty sure she just doesn't want to wtfpwn those Unum ass.

Coolest Character: Vreem Took (Jenno) - He is the coolest of the cool, and we all know he's the creamiest man in all the land.

Wisest Character: Magnus (Arh) - Ummmm....well he's an owl. Therefore he has to be smart.

Funniest Character: Ekerin (Twysper) - The little Amaran that seriously makes me laugh till I piss my pants.

Most Unique Character: Mathathyper (Twysper) - He's pretty much a role model for all apps, because like its just so funny, and random. The part at the end when his master's about to face him and he just runs.

Best Storyline: New Faces in a New World - Wow 0.o can we tone down the epic a little? I'm in love with this thread (Which I believe should be a plot line in its own)

Best Battle: Tornado of Souls - Can there be anything more epic? I love reading over it.
Best Duel: Rhissai vs. Shard (Dire Wolf & Karl) - Pretty much Rhissi shows how epic she is, so lets kill some sith lords sometime?

Most Realistic Writer: Jenno - He always posts awesomely, and some how manages to keep it realistic at the same time!

Best Overall Writer: Kellaishleya - BECAUSE SHE IS A FURRY. No, I really love her writing, and wish she was not at camp so much so I could read it some more.

Best Civilian Bio:Rook Solosten(Meira)-Rook is just epic, and so is his Bio. It makes for an overall interesting read and definitely compliments the character.

Best Military Bio:Te Naast(Regnier)-While this bio may be dwarfed by some of Reg's others, it is nowhere near lacking. Raynes is a true badass, and military bios are not exactly easy when it comes to making them interesting throughout. Reg does this, and bringing an old Character back such as Te Naast, brings joy to my pure little heart :3

Best Fringe Bio:Mathathyper Chesheervyk(Twysper)-Twysper asked me to go over the app and I do not regret it. It was an...exciting read to say the least. There are few bios that can actually provoke true emotion from a reader, and this was one of them. I found myself laughing at the end, it was just golden.
Best Jedi Bio:

Best Dark Jedi Bio:Acalya Syclya(Apillis)-My love for this bio knows no bound. It was the first bio I read as a Dark Jedi mod that I was thoroughly impressed with, and still remains one of the best to date. Its just top notched writing for an amazing character. How could I not fall in love? D8

Best Baddie-- male and female (list both):Silas Isao(Silas)/Acalya Syclya(Apillis)-Neither of these is the typical Baddie yet still hold the necessary qualities. Silas...he just wins, and now in the new thread between these two characters, its only been 3 posts but I can't read that thread without getting sexually excited.

Heart throb:Itani Firians-He is just a grumpy yet totally cool merc who occasionally fraternizes with the Mandalorians. Id go gay for him.

Hot mama:Darth Novus(Neology)-Shes a Sith Lord, shes sexy, and shes evil....and just in case you were wondering, yes that is me nursing a semi. 'nough said.

Best Duo (2 characters):Rook&Sali(Meira&Squee)-ooooo oh how I just love this royal couple. Two great writers, RPing two great characters can only equal awesome...and that it does if not more. I always follow this duo/couple...cause its always a great read

Best Group/Team (3-5 characters):

Magnus(Arheim)

They are about the quirkiest group of force users one could find in the galaxy. Together they make for pure entertainment. Don't be mistaken though for they are all dangerous. Top notch Rpers all RPing incredibly unique characters...they win, pure and simple.

Best Civilian Character:Rook Solosten(Meira)-He is just THE civilian to be around. He was a prince, then his entire family was killed, and now hes king. He now flirts with other royalty and he is oh so good. I am totally excited about our new thread(HYDIAN PRINCESS FTW)

Best Military Character:

Best Fringer Character:Mathathyper Chesheervyk(Twypser)-He is a furry badass midget. Hes kinda evil, got lightsabers and scars over his black fur. How intense is that? Anyways much like his creator, Math is quirky, and quirky is always interesting.

Best Jedi Character:Locke Nemsee(Rugs)-Where to start? Locke is well....Locke. If I had Jace best describe his reaction to the Jedi it would be Jace: -_-. Jedi that make Jace do that usually are interesting...Locke is definitely interesting if not rather unorthodox. Every thread he is in is just pure entertainment.

Strongest Force User Character: Cruentas (Jace) - Take a Jedi, rip away the code, insight intense personal revenge, give him 17 staves of varying unknown potency, and a job description that entitles blowing stuff up. Every time this guy makes an internal threat, I have absolutely NO doubt he can and will carry through with it and that no desert is the only thing preventing him from kicking all our asses and getting the job done himself. Everyone else obviously just slows him down, after all.

Coolest Character: Yeah, yeah, I know I'm biased towards the Mythics, but they're made up of some of the greatest RPers in a really great plot medium. As such, this vote goes to Adalwulf (Dire) as that character seems to embody cool in all its meanings. From cold, to smooth, to epic.

In general, he's often in the CBOX and always amiable when he is. Ask him to look over something for you, and he will. Ask him to watch over a section during an absence, and...he will!

Funniest Member: Ruuuuuuuuuuugs (Rugs) - What can I say? I never tire of his conversations. He'll take something serious and turn it into a good joke, then he'll take a joke and turn it into a good...serious?

Best Civilian Bio: Rook Solosten - Meira (every time…I can’t help it, his bio is just as hot as he is)

Best Military Bio: God, been forever since I’ve read one of these…I believe I must vote for Adamar Sevchenko. Latus is a great writer, and I just adore this guy and everything he went through. It’s just a very well rounded and thought out bio.

Best Fringe Bio: So. Not. Fair. How can I be expected to narrow this down? I have a whole friggin list of AWESOME, EPIC, WONDERFUL bios in my notes and they just keep cropping up! Okay, it came down to three in the end…Magnus Sententia, Kvothe Algaterra or Rizzen Xan…all extremely well written applications, all wonderful writers (Arheim, Rugs, and Vex), but after re-reading them (it was a lot to read) I believe that Magnus Sententia is the winner. It’s personal, it’s fun, it’s detailed just enough (barely)…I know it was difficult for me to choose between the three, but Magnus just stands out.

Best Jedi Bio: uh…I don’t really read them often, but I believe that Locke has to take my vote here

Best Dark Jedi Bio: oh god…do I even have to repeat myself? Okay, honestly, it came down to Adara or Vex…while the idea and writing for Adara was good, better than most, I just felt something…missing…or that it was just too rushed or disjointed at points. Hot mama: Adara (Dire). You know, she’s new, but she ain’t new to me. You get to know a character pretty well while they’re popping in and out of IM while they’re being created…and let me tell you…if Dire continues writing her IC like he did OOC, then she’s on fire. (besides, she looks like Feng from FFXIII…she HAS to be hot)

Best Civilian Character: Rook Solosten (Meira). I can’t say it enough, Rook is likely the best civi ever created. Ever. From being a simple (though noble) Senator, to going through a family tragedy and becoming crown King of Corellia (*puts Aun back in the box* sentimental Corellians…) to even helping out a fellow Corellian in distress, Rook seems to be able to handle it all with poise and charm…or at least a noble attempt at poise and charm. Hell, even dealing with the Queen of Onderon seems to be handled with tact (*locks and sits on Aun's box* >_> opinionated Corellians are opinionated)

Best Military Character: Adamar Sevchenko (Latus). The guy is one of the most down to earth military characters I’ve run across in RP. While most seem to play military characters as overbearing, cold and by the books…or on the opposite end of the spectrum, barely military at all (I know I’ve done both to some degree), Sev is a good balance of the two. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to bloom in RP, but the beginnings are there and I’ll eat it up every time (Sam: *pokes her mun’s brain to post for Sev soon*)

Best Fringe Character: Kvothe Algaterra (Rugs). From the bio to the thread Talau (character) is in with him, and all the wonderful things I’ve heard about the character, I think Kvothe fits this bill. He’s just fun, and dynamic, and Rugs really puts his all into him I think.

Best Jedi Character: Locke Nemsee (Rugs). I love jedi who aren’t the typical cookie cutter type. Locke is exactly what I love in a jedi. Quirky, helpful, friendly and imperfect. If Tal (char) didn’t already have a beau… >_> hell, I might just steal him for myself *runs off with Locke*

Best Dark Jedi Character: I plead the 5th

Best Overall Character: Rizzen Xan (Vex). You ever heard the phrase “play to your strengths”? Well that’s what this character does…in more than one sense. Vex is already a great writer, but for some reason this character just clicks for him with the knowledge that he has from his job as well as his imagination. The character is remarkably believable. With a FIDES side-kick (Wash) who’s such a stark contrast to the Rizzen, and the way the team is played just adds a whole new level of realism. While still new to the ranks of accepted fringe, Rizzen’s personality is proving to be dynamic, the way he’s portrayed is realistic, and the flexibility of the character when put into different situations is already beginning to show itself, making him one of best characters I’ve seen in a while (and not just from this particular writer)

Best Post IC: oh god… um… okay I have to give props to Makiro’s writing abilities SOMEHOW. While it may not be the most dramatic, fight-scene focused, or funniest post ever, it’s a wonderful testament to how dynamic a post/character can be and the wonderful description that can go into it to really paint a picture. Wisest Character: So far I think the wisest character I KNOW about would be Grizzelda Xanxere. Wisdom comes from experience, and wisdom comes from the heart. In most all of her actions, from whom to trust to how to act, Grizzelda has shown wisdom, and I think she definitely deserves coolest character. ( Kellaishleya )

Most Unique Character: There's a very great width of characters out there. Some of them have odd jobs, others have odd appearances, but how does one judge uniqueness? I think the things that make the character unique is the little details of what makes them tick, what they fear, how they react, the inner complexities of mind and spirit of each character. Best Group/Team (3-5 characters): Stellar Mythics. Who would have thought a group of space wizards could actually form in a Star Wars setting and thrive. Unlike the Jedi who are wizards in a mythological sense, these guys really are wizards, their power just come from the Mythos, literally giving new meaning to the Force.

Best Fringer Character: Kvothe Algaterra (Rugs). Quite an interesting character. I've seen many characters started as shades of characters from other shows or books. Kvothe should be that on the surface, but is far different than his literary counterpart. Rugs has put together a character that is motivated to learn, has a taste for revenge. And the ever-present flickercat, Fas, is fun too.

Best Jedi Character:

Best Dark Jedi Character: Looma Isana (Mara). One of the things I like in villains is the ability to blend in with everyone else. In the real world, bad guys look like good guys. Looma is a character that, by all basic extents, should be good, but isn't, having been shaped by a solid sense of rebellion into a very dangerous character.

Best Overall Character: Darth Iniquitous (Jenno). When players talk about bad guys, they should have a sense of intimidation. When I hear about our Dark Lord coming into a thread, especially unexpected, I hear fear and dread, along with anticipation to see what happens next. That's why I nominate Jenno's character for this, because he hits all the points that the big bad should.

Best Fringe Bio: Kvothe Algaterra (Rugs) A long but engaging bio, Kvothe's story stands well enough on its own to be an enjoyable story, without looking forward to actually getting to RP with the character. :3 Sibling rivalry, vicious deserts, and intrigue...

Best Jedi Bio: Norkos (somedude) I really enjoyed reading and approving this bio. Though it wasn't orthodox Jedi, and maybe pushing the rules a bit ;) it had great imagery. So it gets my nomination.

Best Overall Bio: Mathathyper (Twysper) It was a nice-length, it was literate, the story-line was good, and it gave me a good ROFFLE. Can't ask for much more.

Coolest Character: Zarene Yin (sparrow) Her assassination attempt on the Chancellor (Maelstrom) was just darn kewl. >.> Hanging from a tightrope and shooting upside down. And she's a cyborg. Wyn.

Wisest Character: Magnus Sententia (Arheim) He's an OWL. A LIBRARIAN OWL. If that's not the epitome of wisdom, I don't know what is.

Funniest Character: Mathathyper (Twysper) He's a duel-weilding Squib Dark Jedi Stellar Mythic. Certainly deserving of a nomination.

Most Unique Character: Hsi Asmae (Deceit) He's this epic midget bounty hunter. :3 Jawas don't exactly inspire fear, so finding one in Hsi's occupation is pretty dern speffal.
