History:
Kyrador, home of the Kish tribes, was discovered in 3,841 BBY by the Czerka Corporation's 5th Exploration Expedition as they were searching for planets that they could mine out for natural resources. The planet, covered in thick jungle and not appearing to house any sentient species, was immediately attractive to Czerka because their sensors detected not only large mineral and natural gas deposits below Kyrador's jungle, but also a new mineral, subsequently termed Blackstone, which held great potential in starship and weapon fabrication. They quickly dispatched a team of prospectors to the surface of Kyrador.
The first team was on planet for almost a day when communication was lost. The Fleet, believing that it was either an equipment malifuction or interference from the planet's terrain, quickly dropped a second crew onto Kyrador to determine the fate of the prospectors. They, however, were greeted by Kish Warriors, who had captured the others. The Kish, highly secretive about their home, were furious that outsiders would dare set foot on their sacred ground, and demanded that all of them leave. And so they did.
After forty years of negotiation and failed arrangements, the Kish Tribes, based in the pyramidal city of Kyra'dorma, agreed that Czerka could build a trading satellite in orbit above the city. The Kish, technologically advanced enough to know the value of their planet's natural bounty, would trade small amounts of mineral and Blackstone to the Czerka Corporation every year in exchange for information regarding the galaxy at large: Maps of distant planets, the history of these so called Republics and Empires, stories of predatory beasts that they could seek out for glory and honor. The Kish also traded for technology that they initially didn't possess, such as ray-shielding, and missile construction schematics. They quickly reverse engineer such technologies and produce their own versions. The trade agreement has lasted from 3,801 BBY to now.
Between the establishment of the Kish Trade Agreement in 3,801 BBY and the current day, several attempts by independent mining groups have been quickly shut down, either by Czerka who do not wish to lose their exclusive arrangement with the Kish, or by the Kish themselves, who generally refuse to permit non-Kish onto the planet for any extended period of time. No attempt has been made by either the Republic or the Empire to integrate the planet, given it's far-flung position on galactic coordinate V-12 and relative uselessness as a military outpost. The Hutts, however, have a great appreciation for Kish hunters, and use some of them as enforcers, though no attempt has been made to enlist the race as a whole, given their tribal divisions.
The city of Kyra'dorma is built entirely out of Blackstone, the planet's unique mineral, which is extremely dense and strong while bearing similar appearance to onyx. Blackstone grows as a natural crystal and has been used as a building material and for weapon blades since the Kish first established a planet-wide society of hunters. Kyra'dora comprises thirteen different pyramids, each almost a hundred stories tall, and serves as the meeting place and tribunal for all of the twelve Kish tribes. The thirteenth, central, and largest pyramid is where the Tribunal meets every year to mediate the tribes competition against each other and to make sure that the Corporation delivers its side of the trade agreement. The other cities of Kyrador remain a mystery.
