Faction Name: Svanhildr's Corporate Conglomerate
Faction Purpose: To ensure the continued economic and social stability of it's member states.
Faction Planet: The capital is Eriadu, but it encompasses the Seswanna Sector and it's seven nearest neighbors on the Rimma Trade Route.
Financial wealth: Very High. Combined profits between two major ship yards (one known only locally, the other well known as one of the best shipwrights in the Outer Rim), a multitude of farming words, and all eight sectors being located on the Rimma Trade Route, have provided a very significant financial income. Much of these potential profits, however, is put right back into the economy via raised employee salaries.
Military assets: Significant. After taking over from the local security forces, the S.C.C.N. (S.C.C. Navy) began hiring the local shipyards to build a truly significant defense fleet. Roughly comparable to ten sector fleets, the defense and interdiction forces of the S.C.C.N. are the staple of the S.C.C.'s peace of mind.
The S.C.C.'s ground forces are also of significance, being more than enough to hold their own against an entire Imperial sector army in terms of troops and material. Specialized alien brigades utilize the strengths of specific races on a tactical level, allowing for a commander to utilize his forces to their absolute best. With the mechanically minded Sluissi backing them, their military vehicles are generally on par with those of any larger military, tho they often take far longer to build. If the S.C.C.N. is what holds the entire faction's peace of mind together, the S.C.C.A. (army) provides it's foundations. Currently, almost 19 percent of the total population is employed in either active military service or a military support role.
Form of Government: Benevolent Dictatorship
Faction History:
To underestimate the resolve of Idunn Svanhildr, the current leader of the S.C.C., is to invite downfall. This is what happened to fully a dozen corporations. Built originally as a means to simplify records among the thirteen companies, the conglomerate soon became an alliance of sorts between planets. With the ever crafty Idunn at it's helm, the S.C.C. soon began pushing their local, planetary governments out of popular public opinion. Within a few years, the Conglomerate was the only official government in the Seswenna Sector. It took very little influence to begin pushing outward. Within a total of ten years after it's formation in 3619 BBY, the Conglomerate had rid itself of virtually all felony crime and had expanded to include much of the Sluis and Elrood sectors. During this period, Miss Svanhildr invested heavily in military forces, ostensibly to ensure that no pirate raiding party would ever gain purchase in her territory. His military council, however, soon learned the full extent of her plans to control and protect every system that came flocking to her call.
By Idunn's fortieth birthday in 3605, her conglomerate had reached it's current size of just over 350 planets and spanning 8 sectors. From the beginning Idunn had supported alien species, and in little time at all they came to dominate much of the S.C.C.'s Culture and industry. In fact, the police were almost exclusively replaced with telepathic, empathic, or similarly hard-to-fool species, specifically to further the impression of invulnerability to crime. As is to be expected, the occasional serious crime was still committed within the S.C.C.'s borders. At least at first. One of her first official acts of business was to make the executions of criminals both public and gruesome affairs. holovized thruout the Conglomerate, every execution was done by beheading, featuring a jagged and ugly battleaxe as the weapon of choice. By this time, humans made up a minority percentage of approximately thirty percent of the S.C.C.'s total population.
In the three years since, virtually all crime has ceased. The minimum wage for every nation state in the conglomerate was a healthy 19.79 credits per hour and the average cost of living, including many forms of entertainment, was a mere 15 credits-per-hour for a family of three. Tax rates were a simple flat rate of eight percent, far below the rates of 50% or more that many governments levied on their citizens. For every hard working citizen, money was almost a non-issue.
On two additional planets, the S.C.C. has started building a series of shipyards to supplement those at Sluis Van and Elrood StarYards limited. To fund these efforts, new settlements were built in the Mestra System, prodiving a steady supply of raw materials to the new shipyards and industrial worlds. At current estimations, the first should be completed in early 3601 BBY, with the second following the year after. To date, 1164 vessels have been commissioned by the S.C.C.N. for the defense of her territories, including 63 bombardiers, 568 corvettes, 318 destroyer/escort carriers (one multi-role vessel), and 215 medium cruisers. No larger ship class is on the books. (All vessels will be completed and posted pending faction approval and will be detailed at a later date)
Fleet structure: It should be noted that the average sector fleet comprises 24 battleships (by this site's classifications) and an unknown number of support vessels. The sector fleets as used in the S.C.C.N. are comprised of 20 cruisers, 30 destroyer/escort carriers, 50 corvettes and 6 fleet 'bombardiers'. The remaining forces are assigned specifically to convoy escort duty, and are periodically rotated out among the fleets.
