Full Name: Ryke Kellick Torus
Race: Human (Corellian by Birth)
Age: 25
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 170 lbs.
(Disclaimer: I do not own this or any following images)
Appearance: Ryke Torus of the Jedi Order is a slightly tan and lean fellow with a muscular build. His eyes are a dark brown, and his hair is jet black in a close-cropped military style reminiscent of Republic military personnel. A typical athletic human, Ryke is strong enough where he can best the average humanoid, but not so much that he is intimidating to all but the most large of alien species; in short, Rodians may not targeting him for a fight, but a Wookie or even a rival human would not be backed down or impressed at the least by his stature. A rigid training regimen which includes daily training with non-light-saber weapons (I.e. vibroblades) and even just his fists combined with continued daily exercises keeps Ryke in good physical condition with above average strength and experience in weapons other than his light-saber. Ryke has several criss-crossing scars across his back from being ambushed by a pack of Vornskr during a night-time mission on the planet Myrkr. He also has a single scar running the length from his right shoulder down to his upper abdomen from being cut by a vibroblade. It should also be noted that Ryke has light black beard stubble around his chin and cheek area.
Ryke is usually seen in public wearing specialized jedi robes with an underlying suit of darkened tan ceramic composite armor; his gauntlets, boots, breastplate, and greaves are laced with the light-saber resistant substance Phrik, which he obtained from a mission against an underground pro-Sith Coruscant arms smuggling syndicate that he was sent to bring down. This choice of appearance allows Torus to appear unarmed with his robes overflowing atop his armor; in the event that a situation goes bad, a surprised attacker will find Ryke to hardly be unarmed and unarmored. This has often given Ryke the egde in close combat when it is required of him that he use his light-saber in defense of himself or someone else.
(Temple Garb, Minus the Hood Up)
Personality: Ryke is very much a talented maverick and reminiscent of his former master and continued mentor, the Cathar Jedi D'ahn. An unconventional Jedi, he often goes out of his way to ensure that justice continuously reaches afflicted parties that he comes into contact with, which is reminiscent of his Corellian heritage; as such, this sometimes puts him at odds with his mission parameters and objectives, and many Jedi Ryke has worked with since his passing of the Trials have objected to or noted of his tendencies and desires for helping "lesser" beings when mission objectives are clearly more important and vital. This characteristic of Ryke's personality has often to led to would be enemies or opponents of his goals using Ryke's passionate desire for justice against him as an advantage by averting him away from his main objectives through this self-possessed virtue.
Ryke is hardly the sort of person to not speak his mind when he deems his council necessary. Headstrong, sometimes too eager, and talented with his usage of the traditional Jedi light-saber, Ryke's other major flaw is his inability to think his actions through before rushing in to provide assistance or help out a person in need. This downfall of Ryke's character has seen him encounter more than his fair share of traps during missions and had even seen him captured at one point by Mandalorian mercenaries when he was still a Padawan at the side of his Master D'ahn. These traits plus Ryke's young age make for him still being prone to small and short bouts of emotional stress, and some elder and more experienced Jedi have expressed their worries that he is prone to falling astray of the Path. However, his former master's continued encouragement and council have proved Ryke to be a proficient Jedi of the Light despite the warnings of others.
Birth place: Corellia

Rank: Jedi Knight (Sentinel)
Bio:
Early Life
Ryke Kellick Torus was born on the core world of Corellia in the Blue Sector of Coronet in 3577 BBY as the bastard product of Corelliian barmaid Pauleen Torus and an Coruscant off-worlder who had less than congenial relations in a back alley rarely patrolled by CorSec officers. The off-worlder vanished into the crowds of off-worlders in the lower wards not four minutes before CorSec officers arrived to investigate at the behest of a timid Rodian who had been too worried to walk into the alley and investigate what sounded to be screaming for himself. Although rape rarely produced a child due to the factors involved in such an incident, Ryke became a special case when a begrudged and depressed Pauleen bore him into what would be a life of poverty in a Blue Sector medical facility naught but nine months later. However, a visiting Jedi Consular looking for possible future younglings was drawn to Ryke by his senses through numerous other newborns in the infancy ward of the medical facility, and when Ryke's midichlorian blood test was completed by the experienced Consular, his count was astounding and the Jedi requested from Ryke's mother that he be taken for future training at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Pauleen was only more than happy to lose a child she had never wanted. With this, the Jedi, whose name has remained unknown by Ryke to this day, took the infant child to Coruscant and the Temple to grow and become a future champion of the Light.
Ryke proved to be a curious pupil while training inside the Katarn Clan, showing himself to be masterful of the simple basic techniques that were taught to him by the clan's Jedi Master, the Mon Calamari Clackbal. Ryke proved himself to be above and beyond the other younglings in his clan, and over the years the Cathar Jedi Master D'ahn took a profound interest in Ryke as he observed the younglings during his visits to the Temple. D'ahn continuously noted that while Ryke was progressing well and his saber skill was fluid, his emotions were not nearly controlled as well, although it was to be expected of a boy at such a young age who still had a long road ahead of him on the path to becoming a true jedi. Ryke soon became apt at almost all of the basic skills and tutelage taught to him and the other Katarn Clan younglings by Clackbal, and it became apparent that he was to outshine his counterparts both in his connection to the force and his quick ability to adapt and learn as the years progressed. Still, Ryke's boyish charismatic and headstrong personality that refused to relent with increased age and jedi training again prevented any Master from taking him early on as an apprentice, and it was only with continued thought meditation that Master D'ahn decided that he would go to the High Council for approval to take on the now ten-year old child as his padawan.
Learner and Pupil
After spending a night in one of the Rotunda Chapels for some silent meditation and thought, Ryke began his journey with Master D'ahn on the long road to becoming a Jedi Knight. Initially, the Cathar Jedi's instincts had been correct; although Ryke was very much a talented pupil and one of the most attuned to the force he had seen in a very long time since his institution as a Jedi long ago, impatience and recklessness sometimes overtook Ryke in his studies and Master D'ahn realized that Ryke would take more time than any pupils he had taken up before.
As time went by and Ryke's training dragged on, Master D'ahn struggled to maintain a sense of balance in his pupil. He could tell that Ryke was eager to learn his new-found sense of power, but that recklessness and being too headstrong would cloud his mind on the ways to go about; more specifically, he was worried that Ryke's age combined with his headstrong, witful attitude would lead him astray. Thus, he made his top goal to make sure Ryke never strayed too far in one direction. Although Master D'ahn made it clear to Ryke that studies in both light-saber combat and the ways of the Force were important, he also taught his pupil that neither should take precedence over the other and strode to keep Ryke balanced at all times. However, Ryke continuously strayed from his master's teachings, misguided by good ideals at different times that sometimes moved him to study the Force more than his light-saber skills or vice versa. It would take several more years before the child Padawan would prove himself to be completely in control of both his growing talent and emotions.
Ryke continued to go on missions with Master D'ahn throughout the early years of his pupillage, learning the long symbolic ropes of both diplomacy and sheer skill to achieve peaceful ends. He learned to reign his emotions in and control them under Master D'ahn tutelage, and in time he proved himself an impressionable peacekeeper in training. He found himself quickly becoming more learned and experienced by the day, and Master D'ahn continued teaching of the Ataru form and it's uses helped Ryke to master numerous Force techniques required for such a complex style of light-saber combat. Numerous offensive, neutral and defensive techniques such as simple Force Leap and Force Sense proved to be important additions to Ryke's increasing repertoire of force abilities necessary to learn during his training, and as he grew older Ryke vitally came to realize that his insatiable thirst for learning was to be used to bring justice in the name of light through the powers and skills he was learning now, not to be used to further his own goals on the side. His own Master also saw a change in Ryke that had taken years to take place when it had happened to many of his former students years before; Ryke was finally growing into the Jedi D'ahn knew he would and could be. At sixteen, he journeyed to the mountains of M'Haeli, where he retrieved a Nextor crystal and spent weeks in meditation creating the light-saber he would wield for years to come.
Ryke's missions with Master D'ahn taught him the important virtue of patience and helped him to curb his headstrong attitude somewhat. On the planet of Alderaan, Ryke traveled with his Cathar Master to locate a secret smuggling cartel for a Republic military raid that was supplying both food and specialized equipment to Mandalorian sympathizers in the Outer Rim. Traveling to various settlements in the rural savannas and grasslands of Alderaan, the pair spent over three single months searching for any sign of the cartel. Trusting his instincts, Ryke continued to be patient, although his adolescent attitude continued to get the best of him from time to time. Finally, Ryke caught a break after overhearing a suspicious Bothan in a Crevasse City marketplace, used his force powers to get the weak-minded being to reveal the location of the cartel base, which was apparently in the Castle Lands, hidden amongst numerous Killik mounds. Reporting the coordinates and other information to Master D'ahn Ryke had gathered from his would-be informant, this allowed the Republic Military to make a surgical strike and arrest over seventy pro-Mandalorian rebels who led to more arrests planet-wide and the eventual shut-down of the entire syndicate.
At the age of nine-teen, Master D'ahn and Ryke traveled back to Corellia, Ryke's home planet, to investigate the murder of a prominent Jedi Master inside a Republic Embassy on the planet who had been slain by lightsaber in his very quarters. Paired with another Jedi Master, a Zeltron named Darthan, the trio investigated the murder of their fellow Jedi and to their horror discovered the culprit through security tapes to be a Dark Jedi, characteristically cloaked in traditional black robes and wielding a malicious red light-saber to defeat his now dead opponent. Tracking the Dark Jedi to a remote settlement known as Wynne's Hope, the trio caught up to the foul being as he prepared to leave with his ship inside a fighter hangar. Drawing light-sabers, Master Darthan and D'ahn engaged the Dark Jedi while Ryke was ordered to stand back and guard against any more would be intruders, much to his dismay. As the battle raged on, it became obvious that the Sith warrior was more than a match for both Darthan and D'ahn. Striking down the Zeltron Jedi Master with a lunge through his stomach and a quick slice upwards, Ryke watched in horror as both halves of the venerable peacekeeper fell to either side, Darthan's light-saber clattering against the floor. Realizing he could no longer stand aside as a beleaguered Master D'ahn was pushed ever backwards by the skill of the Dark Jedi, Ryke finally intervened by entering into the fray and attacking from behind, forcing the Sith to turn in a staunch effort to stave off his attack. Blocking and parrying Ryke's ferocious initial attack, the Sith Lord force pushed Ryke into a trio of cargo crates, rendering him dazed and confused. However, his momentary distraction bought Master D'ahn enough time to regain his composure, and in this short time he brought his saber in a sweeping motion to bisect his opponent and end the confrontation. The pair then paid their respects to Master Darthan, building a funeral pyre outside the hangar and drawing strange eyes from watching townsfolk. Retrieving Darthan's lightsaber, Ryke returned with his Master to the Temple on Coruscant, now with a new sense of what it meant to be a defender of the Light and to use the Force as a power of good.
Ryke spent his last three years under Master D'ahn at the Teya IV Academy honing and perfecting his force abilities and his lightsaber training. Fully coming of age and experienced, Master D'ahn decided that Ryke was ready. Presenting him before the High Council after traveling back to Coruscant, the lion-like Cathar proclaimed that he was indeed ready for the Trials. Sharing Master D'ahn's council on the matter, Ryke, now aged 22 started the Trials of Knighthood to begin his final stage as a Padawan.
Beginning with the Trial of Skill, Ryke faced a rather simple but equally challenging task; defeat one of the Jedi Temple's many training programs in pitched light-saber combat. However, when it came to time to duel with the computer, Ryke was surprised to see an image of his Master D'ahn, taunting him for all of his numerous failures, such not being able to save the Zeltron Jedi Darthan on Corellia when he could have entered the fight earlier. However, reigning in his sometimes unstable emotions, Ryke rallied to defeat the projection of his master in a rather lengthy duel, finally managing to find an opening on the hologram and defeat it after ten minutes of pitched combat.
Ryke's Trial of Flesh, however, had been accomplished awhile ago. Having journeyed to the planet Myrkr with his Master not four years ago to hunt down and destroy or neutralize a Sith operation to excavate some sort of crystal which would eventually be destroyed, Ryke became separated from his master while being pursued by numerous Sith troopers; in the ensuing aftermath, Ryke lost his light-saber (which would be re-covered by Master D'ahn from the Sith) and was subsequently attacked by a large pack of Vornskyr, which were looking for easy prey after being unable to located any Ysalamiri. Already wounded by grazing laser blasts, Ryke was quick to succumb to the pack's attacks, which was called off at the last moment by a pair of Sith trooper who were utilizing the Vornskyr as tamed hunting dogs to hunt down both Master D'ahn and Ryke. Slashing Ryke across the chest with a vibro-blade and leaving him for dead as they reported in to their paranoid superiors that the Jedi were dead, Ryke used his rudimentary healing powers to keep him alive for a day and to prevent his bleeding out from numerous claw wounds on his back that had been received from the Vornskyr. Nearing on the verge of unconsciousness and death, Ryke was eventually found by Master D'ahn, who had much superior healing powers, the pair made it back to their ship, where they reported the location to a waiting Republic Special Forces team which razed and destroyed the Sith excavation compound as well as the supposed crystal they were digging.
With the Trial of Courage, Ryke journeyed again to Alderaan, where he tracked down a Dark Jedi who killed the Jedi Master Y'Vik, a renowned Twi'Lek Consular of the Jedi Order and friend of Ryke who had been searching for recruits on the planet. His desire for justice over-coming his natural force senses, Ryke plainly followed whom he suspected to be a more experienced and powerful Dark Jedi in a vain desire to bring justice to the fool who had decided to cross paths with the Jedi. It was at this point that Ryke neared his closest to the Dark Side, nearly giving into vengeance as he followed his quarry across Alderaan before finally catching up to him on a awful night inside an old, abandoned Republic military base. Revealing themselves to each other in the Force and igniting light-sabers, the pair proved to be a good match for almost ten minutes before Ryke gained a rare upper-hand in the duel and force-pushed the Dark Jedi with a charged blast into a rusting bulkhead, rendering him unconscious. Although Ryke could have struck down the Dark Jedi where he lay, he promptly dragged the warrior out of the building and into the rain, headed for his ship so that he could bring the darksider to justice at the hands of the Council.
Ryke's Trial of Spirit culminated with his travels to the old planet of Ruusan to meditate for several weeks on his past and the direction of where his powers were taking him in an effort to hopefully give himself some sort of spiritual enlightenment. It was here that he was lured to the Dark Side on his way to the central meditation chambers, passing through an area strong in the Dark Side where presumably Dark Jedi or Sith may have fought, camped, or meditated. This paved the way for Ryke to received several "dark-sided" visions which produced what could be a possible future for Ryke as a Sith or follower of the Dark Side. Although the temptations for power were immense in the pictures of the future that these visions produced, Ryke chose to meditate in this area of the nexus for several weeks to prove to himself that he could resist those lures and offers of power from the visions. After seven weeks of silent meditation, Ryke departed from Ruusan and returned to Coruscant.
After completing his Trials, Ryke was finally promoted to Jedi Knight, knighted in the Hall of Knighthood as the presiding Grandmaster severed Ryke's padawan braid and completed his initiation into the Order. After being saluted by the Jedi Council, Ryke began his prompt career into the official ranks of the Jedi Knights.
Knight of the Jedi
After his promotion to Jedi Knight, Ryke Torus continued to show himself as a true champion of the Light. For two more years, he accepted missions and continued his studies into the force and light-saber combat, further honing his skills as a Jedi Knight. Ryke remains a Jedi Knight to this day and hopes that he will continue to serve the Order in whatever capacity he is presented.

Ryke Torus' footsteps echoed through the darkened halls of the abandoned building as his armored boots clacked against the durasteel floor of what had once been a Republic military barracks. Overhead, the steady stream of torrential rain could be heard pinging consistently against the arced roof, and a gaping hole in the ceiling served to bring Ryke's ears to it's theoretical knees. The weather is playing with your senses, Ryke. Concentrate. All of Ryke's investigations and leads had led him to this place. If his target was anywhere on Dantooine, he would be here. He would waiting, and Ryke would confront him with all the abilities he could muster. His traditional brown robes became soaked rags as he passed underneath the hole in the ceiling; his persona became bathed in moonlight as he moved into the only spark of light that the former barracks had to offer. Stay focused, Ryke. He's here, somewhere. Ryke struggled to keep focused; there were too many distractions, and his senses were clouded with the presence of the dark side somewhere inside the building that made no effort to conceal itself.
Why does he not conceal himself? What are his aims? Ryke thought, again struggling to maintain cohesion of the mind as the darkness of his surroundings enveloped him. Breathing in deeply and taking in his surroundings, his eyes fluttered to a corner of the room as he remained static, catching a brief glimpse of slight movement. Not a millisecond passed as Ryke instantly drew his light-saber, a powerful yellow blade extending from it's hilt and steaming from the rain connecting with it from the large hole in the roof he was standing under. Similarly, a malevolent scarlet red beam of energy extended from the darkened corner he had looked to, and from it emerged into a view an evil figure equal to Ryke's height clad in black robes and wielding a weapon exactly like his own. A gloved hand reached to pull back the hood from the man in the iron mask, revealing the target whom Ryke had sought for months.
"At last, we meet, Jedi", it hissed. Ryke could not ascertain the race of the Dark Jedi, but it did not matter. This was his moment of justice for Master Yvik, and he attended to make it count. "Silence, abomination. Your words will not intimidate me", Ryke replied, his light-saber unwavering in his offensive fighting stance. "Such strong words. The old Twi'Lek had a similar statement before I removed his charred head in revelry." Ryke winced slightly at the Dark Jedi's statements; however, his mind quickly calmed itself and stabilized his judgment. Not bothering to wait for Ryke to respond, the dark warrior lunged forward, his red energy blade pulsating as it connected both with Ryke's bright yellow light-saber and the counter-acting force of the rain, causing sparks and steam to become a mainstay as the two came together in a quick blur of lightning strikes. Ryke swung his blade towards his assailant's legs, counter-parried by the Dark's equally powerful weapon. Elbowing the evil warrior in the face with his left elbow, Ryke did a quick spin as he brought the light-saber at head's height, forcing the dazed Sith warrior to draw upon the force and lash out at Ryke, force pushing him several yards away into a durasteel wall and out of the rain. Ryke's underlying armor connected with the wall with a loud thud, sending him crashing to the floor in a heap. Pushing himself back up, Ryke's head turned just in time to see the pulsating scarlet red blade again move for his head. Ducking at the last moment, Ryke rolled to the side as he re-called his own light-saber to his hand, igniting it as the Dark Jedi's own blade connected with the metal wall not three feet away, sparks flying as the light-saber seared into durasteel and scattering to the floor like shell casings expelled from a slug-thrower.
"Not easily bested, I see!" The Dark Jedi exclaimed, turning quickly and sending a burst of lightning spiraling from his finger-tips towards Ryke. Bringing up his light-saber, Ryke was nearly thrown off his feet as the surge of energy warped around his yellow blade, causing a rippling burst of blue energy to snicker continuously about the contained plasma. Forcing his grip on the hilt of his saber and pulling away one hand, Ryke sent a charged burst of force power from his own fingertips spiraling towards the Dark Jedi, catching him unaware in the ensuing spark show and sending him flying into a rusty bulk-head. The blue surge of electricity coming from his own gloved hand stopped immediately, and his light-saber dropped from his hand as be became unconscious with this simple head-first connection. Not the most durable, I see, Ryke thought with a relief,
Sure that he had rendered the Dark Jedi unconscious, Ryke powered down his light-saber and moved cautiously forward to examine the now on the ground Dark Jedi. Retrieving the man's light-saber, an exhausted Ryke bound the man's hands and feet before pulling away the mask, revealing a human male naught seven years older than him. "We will let the Council decide your fate, darkspawn." Leaning against the wall, Ryke took a moment to breath in some new life and take in the continued sound of the heavy rain before grabbing the unconscious follower of the Dark Side by the armpits and dragging him through the building's rubble hence the way he had originally come, leaving the old structure empty once more and left to the annals of history.
