Name: Derriphan (Delwas)
Race: Human
Age: 15
Height: 5 feet 5 inches
Weight: 95 lbs
Appearance:
Derriphan stands at roughly five feet tall, draped in the black cloak that comes with being an apprentice to the dark side. His clothes beneath it however are closer to the traditional colours and style of a Jedi robe. Some of his excess hair is tied up in a ponytail that hangs down the side of his head, another much shorter one popping up at the back. His brown hair and eyes do not make him stand out in a crowd, though they go well with his robes. His lightsaber hangs from the belt around his waist, as it normally should.
Personality: Derriphan doesn't really have the mindset you'd expect from one training in the ways of the dark side. He is kind towards the other Sith, and in many cases even those he is supposed to consider his enemy. He typically dislikes violence, though this does not prevent him from using it where necessary. However, he finds it difficult to bring himself to commit the darker acts that would normally seem standard affair for being a sith. It is strange then, that he is still loyal to his dark masters, but then he promised his original master that he would be, and it is what keeps him going much of the time. However he can get extremely emotional under the right circumstances, and it takes some time for him to calm himself once angry.
Birth place: Korriban

Bio:
The Beginning – Prologue and Birth
In 3618 BBY, a young couple known as the Delwas family, as foolhardy as they were in love, had decided to cruise the galaxy in a newly obtained ship. They journeyed from the core worlds all the way to the Outer Rim, going wherever the hyperlanes took them. The beautiful oceans of Mon Calamari, the lush jungles of Kashyyyk...
...the inhospitable wastes of Korriban? Unfortunately, this is what can happen when one attempts to go through a nebula to save time than around it. Circuitry goes wrong, and hyperspace coordinates go severely off from what they’re intended to be. The ship dropped out of hyperspace on the fringes of the planet’s the planet’s gravity, controls still seized up from going through the nebula, causing it to continue moving forward.
As such the couple were powerless to stop the ship, even as it plummeted towards the ground, losing one of the engines to one of the many statues that are scattered about the surface. The ship came to a grinding halt as it hit the surface, landing in the middle of a great valley. The crash left the ship incapable of getting off the ground, let alone escaping the atmosphere. All there was to do was activate a distress beacon, and hope that help eventually arrived. That unfortunately took a little over a year, their supplies dwindling as not only did they have to stave off (or at least, survive) attacks from the monstrosities that lived on the world, but after foolishly letting go of their passions for one night, the female of the couple was eating and drinking for two.
When the time for Derriphan's birth came, the two had almost given up all hope. There was little more than a week's worth of supplies remaining, and that was only if it was spread among one of them, let alone what was soon to be three. And in such an environment, there was no doubt their child would cry, which would only attract more of the beasts that had plagued them. But they did not feel right simply letting their child die without having seen the light of day, and thus promised to stay alive until he opened his eyes. That day eventually came, and much to the couple's surprise, a ship descended from up high.
However the noise of the engines unleashed a horde of Hssiss upon them, the couple running to reach the ship as it landed. A platform lowered from the ship, the father almost crying tears of joy as a familiar shape walked down.
"Oh thank goodness, a Jedi! Please, help us!" Derriphan's father yelled out to the hooded figure, before finding his voice drowned out by the sound of his own choking, being forcibly lifted off the ground from afar. The man dropped to the ground seconds later, dead, which only brought the Hssiss on faster.
Derriphan's mother, who cradled the infant in her arms, walked back in fear from what she now realised was a Dark Jedi, even though that put her towards the Hssiss.
"M-my husband asked you to help... y-you monst-AAH!" The Dark Jedi guttered her through on his lightsaber before she could even finish, snatching the infant from her arms as she fell down dead. As the massive reptilian beasts leapt at him, he gave a simple motion of his hand, the force blowing the creatures back several dozens of metres. He returned to his vessel, and after he left, the Hssiss devoured the corpses available to them.
The Dark Jedi had come to Korriban not because of the distress signal, no. In fact that signal had turned out to be so weak that it barely left the system. He had come because he felt something, even amongst all the dark energies that made up the sith homeworld. Something, that even amongst all that darkness, stood out as a concentration of it. It was his good fortune that he happened to be close enough to be able to sense it apart from everything else. And so he had come, looking for an answer as to what it may be.
His answer as it were, was about 15 centimetres tall, and weighed maybe a dozen or so pounds. Having developed from egg cell to birth in a dark side environment, the Dark Jedi theorised that this boy had ended up similar to a child whose mother ended up addicted spice during their pregnancy. In this case, the boy's connection to the dark side would be so natural to him that training him would make a potentially devastating Dark Jedi, or if the right holocrons were found, Sith. However, after temporarily leaving the child alone on the ship on a fairly neutral world, he found a flaw to this potential power. Whilst the child would be an adept dark side user, just like the child of addict, this young one was dependent upon the dark side's presence, though to a much greater extreme. Without it, the child would weaken, and eventually, die.
Beginnings as a Dark Jedi Apprentice: 0-5 years old
The training did not officially commence until Derriphan’s second birthday, when his master saw him as able and fit enough to merely survive the initial training. He was given the name Derriphan, the ancient sith word for ‘devourer’, as that was what the Dark Jedi hoped the boy would become to his enemies. The training was done in places of great dark side power, so as to mask them from the Jedi and republic which now dominated the galaxy. One place they often frequented after a few years was the world of Dathomir, a vast world that the once great Rakata themselves had targeted for its sheer radiance in the force. Well over half of the planet was unexplored, meaning that it was the perfect place for survival training. Derriphan still remembers when he was first dropped from his master’s ship at four years of age, with enough food to last about a day, and nothing in the way of equipment save for a vibroblade.
His first thought having gotten a good look of his surroundings, was to attempt to find shelter, perhaps even sentient life to help him out. Unfortunately for the young child, the best he could find were the native Kwi, who appeared to be little more than saurian animals. Worse still, was that much of the habitat that the Kwi had, was shared by a far more fearsome species – the Rancor. Against a Rancor, Derriphan had a slim chance of survival, let alone winning. A fact that he came to only fully realise in his first encounter with one.
The creature had towered over him, its thick hide blocking everything within Derriphan’s line of sight. His first idea was to use the terrain to his advantage; however the Rancor’s brute strength smashed whatever cover he could find with startling ease. He eventually met with luck upon finding a deep cave, ducking inside it where the Rancor could not hope to fit. However the thing was persistent, waiting outside the cave for days, even as the boy grew tired and hungry within. He eventually passed out from hunger, believing his fate sealed.
He awoke to the humming of a star ship engine, looking around to find himself back on his master’s vessel. His master reprimanded him for trying something as foolish as taking on a Rancor with his level of skill, however made a small compliment on the boy for having survived despite his idiocy. Derriphan has not taken on a Rancor since then, knowing to steer clear of them whenever he heads to Dathomir. A few days later though, he worked up the confidence to ask his master if he had been the one to save him from the Rancor. The master answered yes to the query, however stated that it was merely because he didn’t want to lose his only potential legacy. Though the way he said it, almost seemed as if he was unsure.
Eventually, though, they settled on a world that only the Dark Jedi knew the location of, having discovered the hyperlane to it by mere accident. Located on the outer rim, the Dark Jedi did not bother giving it any proper title, as it served no purpose to do so. Afterall, only they two (and he intended to keep to that number) knew of its location and existence, so not like the name was gonna go down in the history texts. Whilst there was no sentient life on the world, it was powerful in the force, and outside of the reach of the republic and its Jedi. As such, whereas worlds like Dathomir had been good training the boy’s survival skills, this world would serve as an excellent place to begin his training in the force. The Dark Jedi demonstrated his abilities, creating a large academy like structure out of a mountain side within a mere few days. He used his connections to obtain all the equipment required, and thus he was ready to begin boy’s next step in training.
First Touches Of the Force: 5-6 years old
One thing the Dark Jedi consistently reminded his young apprentice of, was the power that came from the force, and specifically the dark side. He told of how the force could be used to break the will of entire armies, bring down entire star ships, even manipulate life itself. However, the Dark Jedi admitted that even he had neither the strength nor knowledge to do such things himself, but that instead he hoped to bring about one who could. The first days after the academy’s construction were spent merely trying to get the boy to feel the force. This was both easy, and difficult at the same time.
The boy was quick to tap into the basic abilities of the force, moving things with his mind as if he’d known how to for a very long time. And even when he wasn’t fully focusing, he could casually lift up something from afar and bring it to him. Getting him to use such powers offensively, that was where the difficulty initially lay. No matter how much he yelled, screamed, and demanded the boy to do so, Derriphan simply refused to use his powers on his master in their mock battles. Of course the Dark Jedi would ask why his pupil refused, and his answer was always the same - ‘I don’t want to hurt you’.
Continually frustrated by this, the Dark Jedi eventually went for a more direct approach.
As the boy was sleeping one night, he was awoken by a familiar noise. He narrowly leapt out of the bed in time to avoid his master’s lightsaber strike through the wall, shocked at what the man was doing.
“M-master! What’s going on, why are you attack me?!” The boy yelled as he escaped his quarters, running through the academy to escape his seemingly insane master, who did not reply.
The chase was long and difficult for the boy, who had nowhere near his master’s abilities or physical durability. Eventually cornered, crying and begging for his master to stop, Derriphan unleashed not something like say, force push, but rather force lightning, which surprised even the Dark Jedi. The Dark Jedi, though surprised, did not lose to a child so easily, overcoming the lightning with his own. He however limited the strength of it, merely letting the boy run himself to the point of exhaustion, Derriphan collapsing within a few moments.
The Rise of the Sith, both Old and New: Age 6-15
Though the Dark Jedi and his apprentice mostly isolated themselves on the planet, they were quite aware of galactic affairs. They soon learnt of the men and women, who took their worlds, and proclaimed themselves the Sith. Derriphan’s master would often mock this, as he was a former Jedi. Specifically, he had been charged with watching over the library within the temple, and as such, knew the true history of the name. He knew about the real Sith.
“They probably started out like me, a Jedi who fell from the grace of the Order. Theories say they went to many worlds, or just a few, but there is one thing everyone agrees on – they found their way to Korriban, the world I found you on. There, for generations they lived with the natives, coming together, before both title and meanings became shared. No longer were they dark Jedi, they were the Sith. The Sith, who made the entire galaxy fear and respect them. The Sith, who were so great and powerful, that their very souls still inhabit their resting places. These idiots on the fringes of known space, they aren’t the Sith. Not even close.”
His master would say similar things every now and again as they trained, Derriphan whilst not liking to use his powers offensively, more willing to do so than he had before, especially as their fights grew closer and closer to his master actually trying to kill him. However, they also grew closer as a pair, their relationship changing more from being master and pupil, to father and son. It was at least evident, when in the weeks leading up to Derriphan’s twelth birthday, the Dark Jedi disappeared from the academy, leaving an assortment of droids for Derriphan to practice on. The Dark Jedi only returned on the boy’s birthday, wounded, carrying a small box.
It was revealed that Derriphan’s master had believed the boy potentially deserved something more than a mere synthetic red crystal for his lightsaber, and had thus journeyed to find something better. It had taken some effort, and a perilous journey to the world of Kesh, but the Dark Jedi had succeeded in obtaining a rare Lignan crystal. However the crystal was not merely given to the boy - that would be a bit too easy, and would have made the Dark Jedi appear soft. Instead, he challenged Derriphan, to something he called a 'game'. This game consisted of Derriphan having to steal the crystal from a small pouch on the Dark Jedi's belt, the Dark Jedi swearing that both he and Derriphan were not to draw weapons, though force powers would be allowed.
Derriphan did not make his move for over seven hours, wanting his master to lower his guard first before making an attempt. When such a thing appeared to occur, he descended down on his master, attempting to use the force to pluck the gem from the pouch without getting into a dangerous range. He was of course foolish to believe that a Dark Jedi would keep to their word about not drawing their lightsaber, finding the weapon thrown at him as he made his move for the gem. To the surprise of his master however, he actually leapt over the weapon just before it could strike. Realising his master's deception as the crystal hit the floor (Derriphan losing his focus when the saber came flying towards him), Derriphan lashed out with the force, sending a wave that knocked his master through the corridors of the academy.
However his challenge was not so easily won, as just when he reached for the crystal, the lightsaber came again, returning to his master's hand as he avoided it. Though this time, as the Dark Jedi had called back his saber, so too had he pulled back the crystal, returning it to the pouch. It was the Dark Jedi's turn to be on the offensive now, as he leapt at the boy, lightsaber held high. Derriphan tried to avoid by ducking to his side, but his face ended up meeting his master's boot as a result. As he rolled across the floor from the hit, he attempted to call the crystal to him through the force once more, but as the crystal was in midair, the Dark Jedi pulled back on it. As it was obvious whose power was greater at the time, the crystal slowly began to return to the Dark Jedi's possession.
But Derriphan had one last trick to pull.
The droids that he had faced were armed with blaster weapons, presumably to train him against opponents that were (initially) far from him. The remains of one such droid were nearby, and using what little of his attention that he could divert so as not to let his Master simply win the battle of wills over the force, pulled the machine's blaster to him, firing wildly at the ceiling. The damage caused a number of rocks to fall down on the Dark Jedi, and in his surprise, back away to avoid being crushed. But in so doing, released the crystal, which flew into Derriphan's hand, a sense of accomplishment filling the young Neophyte.
His task complete, spent many days in his room, imbuing it with the force. His master gave him the required pieces, and thus, Derriphan completed his lightsaber. However, as Derriphan did this act, his master actually contemplated why he had done as such, risking his life for the crystal in the first place. And to his own surprise, whilst he had 'felt' Derriphan deserved such a thing, he could not recall the boy performing any astounding act to justify it beforehand, only coming up with a necessary task after. He had acted on an emotion that wasn't typically linked to Dark Jedi, one that was coming about from their growing relationship.
Derriphan’s training became more and more intense, the range of lightsaber forms increased, and he was making steady progress all the time. However, one day, his master made a strange decision.
"We are going to Korriban, the world where I first found you. Do not take such a journey lightly - it was where Sith trained and died for many ages. If you are not careful, you shall end up like the many hopefuls who never passed that stage of their training, with your tomb being before those of the great Dark Lords of the Sith."
And so they travelled, landing upon the dark world, fighting off hoards of wild creatures as the walked across the barren surface. However, the Dark Jedi noted that amongst some of the tombs and paths, the soil had been disturbed within recent memory. And he could feel it too, a new presence, that someone new had walked those lands. And then, one day as they walked, the Dark Jedi suddenly collapsed to his knees, in both awe and fear. He revealed exactly why they had come to Korriban - he had received a premonition.
One of a dark flame, hiding in the shadows cast by a great sun. However, as time passed, the flame amassed others, growing bigger and bigger, yet still remaining confined to the shadows. It then lashed out at the star, consuming it, devouring it, until it was no more, and all that remained, was the flame. And in the depths of the flame, he had seen a world. Korriban. The Dark Jedi admitted that he did not often trust such visions, believing them vague and far too open to interpretation. And yet in this one, he had felt confident. And thus they had come, and as the premonition foretold, the 'dark flame' was beginning to grow, as now coming together on this world, he could feel it.
It was something that even the Dark Jedi had thought extinct: The Sith. The Dark Jedi and his apprentice came before the new Sith, who's numbers were already growing steadily, in order to consume the 'sun' that was the Jedi and their republic. The Dark Jedi almost immediately got down on one knee, the first time Derriphan had ever seen the man show respect towards another being in such a manner. The Dark Jedi humbly asked that he and his apprentice be allowed to join this new Sith Order, a request that was accepted.
The time to strike against the Jedi came, which meant the Dark Jedi and Derriphan would have to part for some time.
“Swear to me boy. You will serve the Sith as you have served me, for I was your master, and they are mine, and my masters, are now your masters. And when the time comes, we shall join them as masters, not just of this order, but of the galaxy.” And with those words, the two parted, Derriphan wondering just how things will turn out.

There was a light humming sound as Derriphan entered the room, the boy's cloak dragging across the floor as he approached the one he had called master for so many years now. Surprisingly really, that now even his master had a master. Though in in truth, now they were of the same rank, that was to be expected. The humming came to an end as the once Dark Jedi turned off his lightsaber, turning to see the boy he had raised for fifteen years of his life. His face was hidden by the hood as usual, aided by the shadow it cast upon his features.
"Is there a reason you have come to see me, young Derriphan?" The man asked, his voice having changed much over the previous decade. Derriphan saw that it was a sign of him getting older, though liked to think his former master wasn't quite as old as he happened to sound.
"Master, I-"
"No young one, I am no longer your master. You know this."
"Ah, I guess thats true."
Indeed it was, as previously mentioned. In all honesty though, Derriphan had never actually called the man anything but master, so... what was he meant to call him now?
"I sense confusion in you my boy." The man interrupted Derriphan's thoughts, who nodded slightly in response.
"Well, its just... if you're not my master anymore, then what exactly am I meant to call you?"
The question caused silence to fill the room for a few moments, before the older of the two Sith started scratching his chin.
"I see. You do have a point; despite all we've gone through, not once have I ever told you my name."
"Of course you know mine though. You gave it to me after all." Derriphan chuckled lightly, before stopping when he realised the serious look on the man's face (or the lower half of it anyway).
"It is of no importance, as we can address each other without the use of titles. It is perhaps better that way, as we will soon be moving against the Jedi."
"Oh? I didn't think we'd be allowed so-"
"'We' being the Sith as a collective, not us individual members. It is obvious you have received no assignment as of yet, whereas I already have mine. I am to attack a republic vessel, attempt to capture the Jedi aboard it, and interrogate them. Due to the circumstances, I must go alone if I am to avoid detection long enough to reach the ship."
"I see. Well then, I guess I'll be seeing you, um..." He was tempted to use the word which described the way he felt about the guy. After all, he'd felt somewhat more like a son to him at times than an apprentice. So it should be alright if his 'son' were to call him Fa-
"Yes, hopefully we shall meet again. If you would please excuse me though, I must meditate in preparation for the coming battle." He said to Derriphan, who tried to hide his disappointment, nodding in response.
"Understood then." The boy said as he made his way for the door, but not before the man spoke one last time.
“Swear to me boy. You will serve the Sith as you have served me, for I was your master, and they are mine, and my masters, are now your masters. And when the time comes, we shall join them as masters, not just of this order, but of the galaxy.”
"Yes, I will." Derriphan responded, as he exitted, the door sliding shut behind him with its usual hiss.
"...Father." He muttered to himself as he walked down the corridors.
