Name: Nissa Nagrom
Race: Human
Age: 10
Height: 4ft
Weight: 70 lbs
Birth place: Nissa was born on her fathers cargo ship.
Appearance: Nissa is in fact short for her age, shes a tiny girl but her size seems to add to her speed and agility. She has light skin, short black hair that has a tendency to hang in her face no matter how many times she brushes it back behind her ears and big blue puppy dog eyes.
An older Nissa(15 yrs old) with pink streaks added to her hair.
Personality: Nissa appears to be a shy girl but in reality she is simply a very quiet, thoughtful girl. She doesn’t speak much to those she doesn’t know, not out of shyness but out of a silent curiosity. She is very kind and forgiving, it takes a lot to upset her. Despite her quiet nature she is a natural born leader and when the situation calls for it her silent ways are thrown aside and she can quickly take charge of almost any situation.
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Youngling
Bio: Nissa’s parents, Ra and Tris, ran a freighter together. Nissa was born on the freighter and unfortunately her mother died giving birth to her. This left her father to raise her by himself, a chore which he unhappily attempted to perform. He had absolutely no skills with children or babies so taking care of the infant nearly drove him insane at times. And often times he was forced to remind his crew he was a freighter captain not a nanny and they should continue to respect him as such! Luckily for Ra one of his crew recently became a father as well and offered to have his wife, Lily, take little Nissa for a while. The offer was quickly accepted and Nissa was swiftly passed on to a new home with a strange woman and her baby boy on Tatooine.
In the new environment a nearly two year old Nissa thrived along side the one year old boy Dominic. The two of them quickly became inseparable friends. The two of them were a handful but they were loved and well taken care of. As Nissa and Dominic grew older a thirst for adventure grew rapidly within them. A three year olds idea of adventure might not be as exciting as an adults’ but at times they can be just as dangerous. One such time involved the three year olds sneaking out of the house during nap time, which had come to be a nap for not only the children but Lily as well. The children decided they wanted to explore beyond the sanctity of their home, in other words, down the street a bit. Unfortunately they were unaware of the potential dangers of their desert home world. They were caught in a sandstorm and only managed to avoid its full wrath by hiding behind a pile of crates. And of course when Lily woke up to a raging sandstorm and two missing children she nearly had a heart attack. Luckily the children were recovered, dusty, but unharmed.
When Nissa was four poor Lily began to get sick. It appeared to be just a common cold at first, but it didn’t go away, and her strength was slowly sapped from her body. Lily managed to get out a message of her failing health to her husband who quickly returned to Tatooine just in time to witness her death. It was a sad time for everyone, especially Dominic and Nissa who both lost the only mother they had ever known. But to make matters worse Dominic’s father couldn’t handle the two children on his own. So he promptly took Nissa back to Ra’s ship where she and Dominic were forced to say their final good byes. Nissa felt as if she had lost the only family she had ever known. At this point her mother died, her best friend was being taken away and she was being left with a father she never knew.
Ra appeared to feel the same way about being stuck with a four year old daughter he knew nothing about. Despite the great loss that Nissa had experienced her curiosity still remained and she wandered the ship constantly. This was of course very aggravating to her father who wanted her to simple stay in the small room he had designated as hers. But she never listened to him. It took only one short month of this before Ra was completely fed up. He didn’t believe he could handle a child on his own and so he would leave that chore to some one more capable. And who better than the Jedi who are up to their elbows in children all day every day! So Ra took a four year old Nissa to the Jedi temple where he promptly abandoned her quite literally on their doorstep.
Nissa was slightly shaken by the many sudden changes in her environment but the Jedi were kind to her. They quickly discovered that Nissa was force sensitive and she began her training as a youngling. After first arriving at the temple many of the Jedi believed that Nissa was possibly mute. She obviously wasn’t deaf since she followed orders just fine and would nod or shake her head in response to questions. Her curiosity prompted her to stay silent as she observed the people around her.
One Jedi master, Master Sundra, took notice of little Nissa and began making an effort to communicate with her. After attempting to get her to talk and failing multiple times he tried to teach her sign language in hopes that they would then be able to communicate with her. She found the constant waving of his hands as he tried to sign out what he was saying amusing. But it was what he wanted her to learn so she opened up to the silly hand waving and learned the new language quicker then anyone expected. It was about two months after arriving at the temple that Nissa finally spoke for the first time. After her and a group of other younglings her own age were asked a question that left most of them stumped, little Nissa piped up with the answer leaving everyone slack jawed in amazement.
Now having acquainted herself with most of the Masters, Knights and Younglings Nissa was much more open. She would reply when people talked to her and at times she would even start a conversation of her own. But despite her ability to communicate with the rest of the temple she still remained a quiet girl. Preferring to silently observe the world around her instead of disrupting its flow with her own voice.
Nissa was in fact very happy at the temple. She made friends easily although it wasn’t till later on that she realized she had a tendency to attract misfits, underdogs and outcasts. The friends she made always seemed to be different from the rest of the younglings, not bad just different and some how Nissa seemed to bring out the best in them. One boy she befriended(he was 9 Nissa was 7) had a problem with getting into fights with some of the other younglings. With kind words and a friendly ear Nissa managed to sooth this boy’s troubled soul. The change in him after befriending Nissa was immediate. The fights stopped, he straightened up and concentrated on his training. He went from a troubled youth to a wonderfully talented child who had great potential as a Jedi. This was in fact how it went with many of Nissa’s friends both those that were older and younger than her. Not all of them had problems with fighting but they all had undesirable quirks that Nissa helped them work through.
Despite her happy new life Nissa never forgot her old one; in fact it was quite a difficult task for her to even imagine doing. She couldn’t forget her old friend Dominic, mainly because she dreamed of him at times. Not every night, maybe once a week or less but the dreams were so real it was as if she could reach out and touch him. She watched him grow up with her through her dreams and she could swear that he could see her as well. Her dreams were a sort of retreat for her. Being with her old friend brought her unimaginable peace. Unfortunately as Nissa and Dominic grew older her dreams began to change as did his life. The change seemed sudden as Dominic was at one point the young boy that she knew and love and the next time she dreamed of him he was no longer the same boy. He was cold and uneasy, the dreams stopped bringing Nissa peace and she began to worry about her old friend. One night she could feel him in pain, so much pain that she woke from the dream screaming. Most of the times the times her dreams were normal or nonexistent but on the occasion that she dreamed of Dominic the dreams were always filled with such pain and suffering. She kept silent about her dreams, they were hers alone and she didn’t share them with anyone. She didn’t allow the dreams to affect her daily life; she continued to strive to become a great Jedi like the Jedi Masters she Idolized. Dominics life was changing and so was Nissa’s as she began to focus more and more on her training. Now ten years old Nissa worked harder than ever to learn and improve in hopes of impressing a Master to take her as a padawan. She had no fears of not being chosen but she did want to do her best to show the elder Jedi what she was capable of. And so she waits and trains for the day when she will begin her training as a padawan.
