Name: Kalrain Telk (First name is pronounced Kaa-lrrayyn, with emphasis on the first syllable. It's very important. Sort of.)
Race: Human
Age: 23
Height: 5"6
Weight: 115 lb.
Appearance: Kalrain is slender and rather diminutive in appearance. This is not due to any lack in height or presence, but rather due to a general way of holding herself that makes her appear smaller than she is- something that is rather a bad habit according to her.
Kalrain has a finely molded face, with dark brown eyes, full lips, and excellent other features. She has dark wavy hair that reaches to her mid-back, but is usually caught up in a ponytail or a net to get it out of the way.
(For a more thorough picture- Cote de Pablo.)
Birth place: Aldera, Alderaan
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Knight, Guardian
Bio:
Birth
Kalrain was born on Alderaan, into the beautiful terrain of that planet. Her mother was originally from a more rural area of Alderaan, but came to Aldera to attend university, and there met Kalrain's father. Kalrain was born some two years after they met and married, and she immediately blessed their lives. Kalrain was quickly followed by another child when she was scarcely a year old, and the Telk family's life grew ever more hectic. Kalrain, while enjoying the companionship brought by another child, found it a bit upsetting. She had enjoyed her life as an only child, for as long as it lasted, and started quite a sibling rivalry early in her life.
When Kalrain came close up on the age of three (another child having graced the family), her family began to notice strange things. For one thing, her reflexes seemed paranormal- more than usually quick. For another, she had an uncanny habit of staring at people in a way that was quite unnerving- as if she could see into their very souls. Her mother took the little girl to a doctor, who brought in a Jedi watchman on the planet. He said that the girl was Force-sensitive, in enough of a fashion to warrant attention from the Jedi Order.
Her mother (who was feeling quite harassed by this time- three young children were quite a load) was intrigued by the idea of having a Jedi in the family. After a short discussion with her husband, Kalrain was entrusted to the Jedi. She began her journey.
In the Jedi Temple
Kalrain was taken, as all prospective younglings, to the Jedi temple to begin her training. As all younglings, she went through various lightsaber training techniques, emotional detachment training, and all other basic aspects of Jedi life.
Not many major events took place during her time as a youngling- Kalrain was a quiet child, and caused no trouble. She did have her share of friends however, and was quite chummy with as many other younglings as possible. She seemed to revel in attachment- something that was quite disturbing for some of those who watched the younglings and their progress.
At the age of 12, Kalrain was chosen by a Knight to be his Padawan- a Twi'lek named Krel Pev.
Padawan Years
Kalrain started her training with Knight Pev.
Soon after Pev's acceptance of her as a Padawan, the barely 13-year-old Kalrain and Pev were assigned to go to a far-out system to help mediate a trade dispute. Accordingly, Kalrain took the second space flight of her life, and they arrived without event at the system. The two species on opposite sides of the dispute proved inordinately stubborn, resisting mediation at all turns. Kalrain made friends with the aides of one of the diplomats- unwittingly causing a near-crisis. She broke the unspoken taboo in the culture against touching by an alien- and was thrown out. Pev managed to secure staying rights for himself, but Kalrain was restricted to their ship for the rest of their stay. After this event, Kalrain took great pains to avoid personal relationships with anyone that had anything to do with a mission, with success.
Their next mission of note concerned a smuggling ring. Kalrain accompanied Pev and two other Knights to the base. It was here that tragedy first entered the life of Kalrain. In the showdown that ensued, Pev was shot and killed. Distraught, Kalrain was forced to leave the body of her master behind as the Jedi were beat back. Kalrain locked herself in her ship quarters, and refused to come out for the remainder of their trip back to Coruscant.
When they arrived, Kalrain moped about the temple for several days- until a Council member, Ras Tel (a human woman), came upon the young Padawan. Inquiring after Kalrain, the woman came upon the information that it was Kalrain's master that had died, leaving her adrift. Determined to do something, Ras took the girl as her Padawan. Kalrain was taught by Ras to move on, beyond things that hurt you, even when you didn't want to.
It was during her time with Ras that Kalrain constructed her lightsaber on Ilum. She designed her handle in a way that seemed fitting- compact, streamlined, with just enough decoration to satisfy her artistic taste. She found her crystal- a very unique one- far within the caves of Ilum. It made a very different color from most- not blue, not green- perfectly blending the two sides- Counselor and Guardian. Though Kalrain felt more adept in combat, she still enjoyed learning of the Force and its mysterious ways.
Kalrain and Ras went on many missions, ranging from disputes between cultures, to rescue missions. During this time, she and Ras grew very close. She learned much from the Master, and they turned into an inseparable team. Ras spent hours in the exercise gyms, and in informal training sessions on board transport vessels, training Kalrain in the arts of meditation, telekinesis, and combat arts. More than this, Kalrain and Ras learned to implicitly trust one another, after many hair-raising encounters throughout the years. But tragedy was once again in store for Kalrain.
Becoming a Knight
Kalrain and Ras were sent out for their last mission together- helping negotiate with a group of rebels on a planet called Inis II. Kalrain and Ras traveled to the planet- and were shocked to discover that a group of Dark Jedi, consisting of four, were aiding the rebels.
In the fight that ensued (in which Ras killed two of their opponents), Ras was killed. Kalrain fought off the remaining Dark Jedi, killing all but one of them. This man turned tail and ran when he saw he had no more backup. Kalrain, now with the deaths of two Masters behind her, came out stronger after the death of Ras. She had learned how to be strong with her Master, and would not let it set her back. She returned to Coruscant to report to the Council.
While there, Kalrain began the trials preceding her promotion to Knight. Her experience on Inis II counted towards her trial of courage, and her trial of flesh. (Her fight with the Dark Jedi, and eventual win, and her loss of Master Tel.) The Council induced a vision for Kalrain's trial of the spirit. She was taken back to the time directly after she lost Master Pev, to search herself out and discover herself. The trial of skill passed with little trouble- Kalrain was well versed in lightsaber combat and Force combat skills.
Kalrain became a Jedi Knight, a Guardian. She moved past Ras' death, and became stronger for it. She was determined not to let what happened set her back, as she let Pev's death do.
Knight-hood
Kalrain's first mission as a Knight involved going with another Jedi to investigate the disappearance of a group of diplomats. The mission proved risky- the planetary government claimed to have nothing to do with the disappearance, but nevertheless attempted to kill the Jedi. However, the Jedi proved smarter- and tougher- than they had supposed, and the Jedi found the diplomats with little trouble.

Kalrain stared into the distance. She felt weighed down, as if she were going to fall apart at any moment. This couldn't be happening, it really couldn't. Sighing, she stood, and began to stretch in preparation for her exercises. She was determined to keep on doing what she was supposed to- despite the pain she felt.
She pulled out her training saber, and activated it. Staring into its blue-green blade, she began to slowly swing it. She brought it up in a block, then dropped it down into a low slash. She spun and flicked her wrist, sending her saber into a backhand strike. She brought it up into a block, then parried. Spinning down into a low squat, she brought her saber up in a block above her head, then jumped back up, spinning to strike.
She ended in a salute, and then deactivated her saber, breathing hard. The sound of clapping made her turn, and her eyes fell on a woman, standing at the edge of the exercise mat. "Very good, young one." the woman folded her hands in front of her, and stepped up onto the exercise mat. "You have talent, little one."
"Thank you Master." Kalrain said, bowing. The woman acknowledged the bow with a nod of her head. "Who is your master, young one?" Kalrain bit her lip and stared at her boots for a moment before returning her gaze to the woman. "He was Krel Pev, master."
"Ah." the woman looked apologetic. "The one who left us. I see. I am sorry young one." Kalrain shrugged. "It's nobody's fault." The woman watched Kalrain for a moment longer before turning and heading off. Kalrain watched her go, then sighed and returned her saber to her belt. She was alone. Again.
