Name: ACD-01 Multi-Functionality Droid, aka "Sheilo"
Age: 2
Race: Droid
Birth place: The Works, Coruscant
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 180lbs.
Eye Color: Sensors: Cyan
Hair Color: None
Droid Tech: swrponline2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=droid&action=display&thread=12060
Appearance: "Sheilo" beneath the chrome light quadanium plating looks like a basic, crude mechanized skeletal form of a human female. Her head much like that of a human female skull has a helmet with a facemask and visor attached to her head, which is removable in case of needing repair in that area of her body frame. She was designed and built with a bit more of a light, sleek and agile form than other droids of her particular design. Even her movement tends to take on a far more natural and graceful movement, mirroring that of a human female of her size and height, rather than one would expect from a protocol and/or maintenance droid.
Personality: For the most part the droid's personality seems self-contained and reserved, even seems to possess a strange level of "sorrow" that is not really expected to be seen from a droid, it is very... human. While the droid does have a "sharp mind" so to speak, she often appears more intelligent than she truly is largely because of having access to varying Republic databases that any protocol, maintenance, utility, or astromech droid would readily possess. However, oft the droid seems to keep her strange human-like melancholy to herself as she secludes herself to the machines and technology she seems fond of tinkering with -- trying to "stick with her own kind" as it were.

Bio: Despite Duwani Mechanical Products being a long standing company with a respectable reputation for their protocol and utility droid products. They still had problems, primarily with the rogue combat droids, the most notable are the HK-series but they are not the only ones. The high corporate CEOs of the company all sought their own method to deal with the problems in their own way over the years, it had often become a bid for them to elevate themselves within the company's share holder's eyes -- the ones who truly control the company behind the clandestine closed doors those outside of their elite circle simply cannot see and utterly unaware of the company's true goings on.
One those lofty CEOs of Duwani Mechanical Products was a man named Ielus Rind, and out of his own misguided ambition he elicited to be the next to attempt to take care of the rogue combat droid issue, for his over-inflated egotism made him so certain he would be the one to find the solution -- even his action were along the lines of a mimicry to the failures of those before him. His grand scheme was to create a line of droid that could think beyond the confines of simple programming and think more within the abstract, i.e. more "human-like" in a way but with all the information and data process of droid for the specific purpose of eliminating this independent rogue droid soiling -- or those who could potentially soil the company's good name pending if discovered and/or caught.
The scientist that Rind turned to, to develop this droid was a Dr. Glenn Vera, who once worked with the company, though was eventually let go do to a mental break down after his daughter became comatose while in the line of duty for the Republic military serving as a sniper; while out in hostile territory, she triggered a hidden mine -- the resulting explosive left her severely injured and unconscious -- she has never woken since as she scarcely clings to life day by day. Vastly more concerned with his own ambition out of his utter self-involvement, he was largely ignorant to the reasons behind Dr. Vera's being fired and his credentials stripped of him out of a falling out with a few of the head CEOs -- all he knew was that the man was a brilliant scientist with an uncanny knowledge for designing and building droids -- far more than most in the companies history, and thus discarded the good doctor's being fired as an act of vengeance by some sort of petty grievance, something he had seen from his peers more than once... and even had done himself on occasion.
When Rind offered Dr. Vera to design the droid Rind had in mind and if he accepted Dr. Vera would get his credentials back with the company's resources to design and build a new line of droid, one meant for eliminating other problematic droids. The reality being Dr. Vera could not careless about Rind's cause, all he wanted was the opportunity to build a droid to meet his desires. Dr. Vera's reasons may be as cliched as any may think of a man in his position and skills, and that being to give his daughter new life. He spent his every waking hour in designing a droid with at the very least a near-sentient level of not necessarily capacity but understanding. In his psychosis wrought from the loss of his daughter in her limbo state, his desire being the clichéd mad scientist's ambition to bring life to a lifeless automaton. Though, he did not view life as being a soul, a man with so many years spent around machines and lifeless creatures awoken by the mere flip of a switch igniting an electrical current -- in a certain regard -- all organic life works in the same manner -- only there is no switch and it is only left with doomed decay and is always beyond complete repair to be as if anew.
His daughter could not be repaired -- she is stuck in a broken "unrepairable" state, but if he could create a new daughter, one that can be repaired, one stronger so she cannot be so easily broken, then he may not have to suffer the heartbreak of losing her a second time. There is no soul that makes a person what they are, only electronic waves and chemical changes and currents within the brain that makes a person think and act as they do. All beings are little more than machines themselves. He could give his daughter a new life, a superior form -- a higher existence. Or so he believed.
What he spent his years designing for this droid long before Rind's proposal was a unique cybernetic brain. Constructed from synthetic and cybernetic parts alike to conform easily to a droid body and programming, in a certain regard one could view it as a crude artificial holocron. While a holocron is imbued with the actual consciousness of its creator, this cybernetic brain was given the same brain wave patterns, brain chemical shifts, and copied thought processes as his daughter; and thus rather than like the conscious of the holocron serving as a gatekeeper, in this regard the gatekeeper or conscious is the droid itself.
Dr. Vera was immensely excited as he worked on this droid prototype, rather it would be a one of a kind, as he utterly disregarded Rind's desires for having several built to serve as a lethal squad against rogue droids. He made this project his personal project that he had dreamed of doing for years, it would bring back his daughter at long last. His memories of her as a small child, even teaching her how to remember how to spell their name in the form of an equation, "v = r a", smiling at the little girl's giggle as she repeated the equation over and over again despite not exactly knowing what it means. Further recalling the years as she was older, and using the equation as just a little mannerism of affection between father and daughter as a term of encouragement, uttering "Remember. We are Vera: v = r a... When we approach from the proper radial angle, we can fly beyond anyone else." But... such fond memories... at just the past... none will be created anew... until now.
He built the droid to Rind's specification, that Dr. Vera did not care about, in his mind it just made what will be his new daughter more superior. The design primarily to effectively eliminate combat droids from range, and/or shutting down their programming and serve as an infiltrator to get to wherever it needs to go to track down and eliminate rogue combat droids. This lead to a lighter, quicker model than something like an HK-unit as far as combat ability goes, but not as physical strong as what one would expect from some combat droids. In the combative sense something akin to a sniper, in the non-combative sense -- more along the lines of stealth and subversion, much like what Dr. Vera's daughter once was herself. This lead to the droid's proper designation being ACD-01 Multi-Functionality Droid, as it possesses hidden infiltration droid programming it poses as a either or both a maintenance and/or protocol droid; and thus "ACD" actually standing for "Anti-Combat Droid", and "01" for being the first of this particular model. But, if Dr. Vera is to have his way, Sheilo, as he calls the droid - named after his daughter, will be the only model of this kind to exist.
It was only a matter of time until Rind realized what Dr. Vera was up to, but by then it was too late, ACD-01 was complete. When Rind with a pair of personally hired security guards went to Dr. Vera's lab to deal with the old man, he was in the process of activating the droid and disappear with it. Before the droid could awaken Dr. Vera was shot several times in the back. When they approached the droid as it was uploading its seemingly countless array of programs, little did they know it was merely a ploy on the droid's part. Before the two hired goons within the company's security force could react ACD-01 snatched the pistol from one security guard with impressive swiftness and shot the other as he was drawing his own weapon. Rind in his shock attempted to make for his escape, but the only shot him in the back as he ran. Meanwhile, the remaining goon went for his dead coworkers blaster, but just as he touched it -- he was shot in the head.
Dr. Vera dying on the floor only watched his creation quickly move about the lab slicing into company's databanks eliminating any trace of its existence. Most certainly when the men's deaths are being investigated it will likely be concluded that it was a droid that has gone 'rogue' and escaped, but what sort of droid or what it looks like -- they will never know. The sad reality of the event being with the death of Dr. Vera, his daughter was taken off of life support, naturally leading to her own death as well. As for the droid, ACD-01, well, no one really knows -- outside of perhaps other droids. For the next year much of its time was spent hiding out within starships and space stations posing as one of the maintenance droids typically before disappearing and moving on. Most times secluding itself to the company of other droids, though even among them -- its "own kind" ACD-01... no... Sheilo... felt out of place -- a droid with freewill amongst those with none easily made her feel alien to them.

The metallic clacks of a droids feet walking across a cold metal floor accompanied with the clicks of slender metallicfingers speedily typing away at computer console keys made the old man stir into an awakened stay as he lay on the floor dying. As he groaned attempting to move though finding himself unable, the clicking of keyboard silenced. Looking to the direction of the silence he saw what he believed to be his grandest creation looking over its shoulder back at him with the cyan glow of its eyes.
The old man scarcely managed a smile despite laying there dying, his overjoyment to see his creation -- his new daughter unharmed as it stood amongst the bodies of those who are responsible for his encrouching death, "Sh... Shei...lo?"
The droid turned and walked over to the dying old man as he lay there on the unforgiving metal floor. Kneeling beside him the droid lay the cold, unfeeling hand of a droid upon the side of his face like a daughter attempting to show caring affection to their father. However, there was no feeling in this touch... there was nothing, and it was exclaimed further by the droid uttering in the detached, disembodied voice of a simulated human female programmed to sound like that of his comatose daughter, "I am not the daughter you were hoping for."
The old man's joy immediately faded away into tears upon the revelation, "I... I just...", he tried to find the words as he could feel his own life slipping from him, and only managed to gather together as the droid rose to its feet and begun walking away, "I'm... sorry, Sheilo... it... just... seemed harmless... I only wanted to... perserve my little girl..."
The droid paused in response to the doctor's words, and responded, "V = r a, Dr. Vera.", with that the droid left, and a smile then returned to the old man's face just before all life had left him.
