Yet another world has fallen from the grip of the Republic. Rhen Var, an ice planet that was home to an old Jedi Temple was attacked by the Sith Order recently, adding one more world to the string of losses that the Republic has taken.
It is currently unknown whether or not there was any belligerent action from the Jedi, who have to this point remained out of the fighting, to spur the attack from the Sith. However, it has been speculated that the recent splitting of the Order with the creation of a group known as the Blades of the Order, may have played a role in drawing the Sith's attention to the frozen world, which (other than the Temple located there) has little in the way of resources or tactical value.
Facts on the minutiae of the battle itself are scarce, but here's what we do know. We know that the Sith force was lead by a 'Darth Eurachis' and attacked the Temple without warning. From what we've been told, the Jedi Temple had no military force, save a few guards, until Vreem Took, member of the Jedi Council and leader of the Blades arrived with a Republic support force.
However, it proved to be either too little, too late, or some combination of the two, as the Jedi were forced to abandon their Temple, which now lies in Sith hands.
There has been speculation abounding in the wake of this recent attack on if the Jedi's stance on the war will change. Up to this point, they have decided to sit out and wait on the sidelines. However, with the loss of the Enclave on Dantooine and now the additional loss of the Temple on Rhen Var, many cannot help but ask if the Council will finally decide to enter the war effort. After all, the loss of those two worlds to the Sith are very much direct attacks on them by the Sith. It has lead some to wonder how much the Sith will be able to take until the Jedi finally see fit to offer retribution.
That is a question that must go unanswered for the time being, however. Until more word reaches us, we just do not know what the Jedi will do.
