[[For the record, you miss-spelled Galactic Senate. You spelled it Galacitc Senate]]
[[How are we opening? Chancy gets to walk in and we all eventually convene, ala real life senate?]]

(We are all there, already in our little chair-pod thingies, and the chancellor will open a discussion and then move to open discussion world by world.)

Yevila sat with his legs crossed on one of the hover pods, he was planning on making a trip to Dantoonie soon and much of this hearing would be important to him. Closing to himself he searched what little he knew of the force, his brother was forbidden from teaching Yevila, because he was outside the order however that hadn't stopped the resourceful knight from dropping soft hints now and again to further develop Yevila's understanding of the force. Opening his eyes slowly he glanced across at Gwen Gratu a women who should not have been sitting in the hover pod reserved for the representatives of Corellia, but Yevila had allowed it, there was still plenty of room and he felt sorry for the young women.
Falling in love with a Jedi Knight wasn't an easy relationship.
Yevila uncrossed his legs and reached for the staff which he used to aid him walk, among other things, as the 'walking stick' was crafted out of the rare metal Phrik, which he had managed to get with the aid of his brother.
"Gwen...the proceedings are about to start..."
His voice unnaturally soft and loving, he knew his brother would have all ready have left by now and that after this day he wouldn't see Gwen for a long time as she would hide herself in her chambers or slip out after dark to god knows where until word reached Yevila that his brother had returned in which he would see Gwen come from seemingly no-where to greet him.

Senator Valore had already established a position for the Dantooine case. Before the senate he had delivered his platform of immediate removal of off-world industrialization. Thus meaning both he and his enemies had had the time to prepare for the debate.
Over the arena he spotted the area reserved for the Sith Empire. Their representation was powerful and the competition was likely to be fierce. After all, Valore had served in the Navy in skirmishes against the growing Empire. Same strategy, different battlefield.
The roar of the various senators chatting filled his ears and filed his excitement. He had never addressed the full Senate before, only the expository congregation. Though excited he was not scared, he knew his enemy was more experienced but the acting Chancellor was likely to side with the Teloniese Senator whose planet was suffering largely the same fate as Dantooine.
The Senator reached for his glass and sipped at his water. Whether for good or ill, todays proceedings would surely make history.

Supreme Chancellor Vilmar rubbed his eyes. It was going to be a long day today. He apprehensivly looked over to the small monitor on his desk. It Currently showed the gathered senators. He was glad that there was no sound, as he was sure the noise would be deafening. He looked over at an aide of his, who shook his head. It was time to start.
Looking over his agenda one final time he sighed and stood up, smoothing out a crese in his deep purple Veda cloth robe. He walked over and sat down at the Chancellors Podium and hit a switch.
As he rose higher and higher into the arena the represenatives gathered there become gradually quieter.
The Chair will now recognize the Agricultural Administration of Dantooine to Discuss the Dantooine Industrialization Project

Nathan looked at his datapad and looked back up at the Chancellor. Due to Senator Hale's status in the senate, he had one of the closer seats to the Chancellor. While it meant a longer walk, it allowed him to view the man's face without video enhancement.
"Dantooine. That outer rim mudpit? So they've finally come out of the darkages have they?" A voice spoke from behind Hale. "I wonder if they still rub sticks together to keep warm."
There was a light chuckle around the pod and Nathan shook his head. "We all have to start somewhere. Give em a chance. If they can get the infrastructure under them, they could do wonders with their resources."
Nate leaned back in his chair and waited. He really didn't have much against the project. He thought it was a good idea as long as they cleaned up the mess afterwards. Companies rarely do unless enforced, but what the heck, Kuat was getting better.

Valore stepped up to his microphone. If no one else was going to speak then he would. Possibly the commissioners of Dantooine were frightened by the business Representatives and would not speak out for their cause. He would just give them a little nudge out of the door.
"With all due respect to the industrialists present, have we not already enough factory ridden planets? Is Dantooine next in line to be taken over then have every one of its resources striped away? Shall we not make yet another culture-less wasteland?"
He paused and waited a moment, circling the arena in his pod. He leaned forward and let the congregation quiet.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Dantooine is a wonderful world of nature and a simple people with a way of life that you can not find elsewhere in this galaxy. As servants to the Republic, we can not let a planet with such a diverse lifestyle fall to cooperate waist. It would be a scar on each of our reputations to idly let a population go extinct."
The Senator leaned back, slightly out of breath. He had mustered as much emotion and charisma as possible. Hopefully he had touched the hearts of the Senators who had seen this happen to their home world as it was happening to his. At the very least he had hoped to captivate the vote of the Chancellor.

Nathan let a smattering of applause die down before he interrupted.
"With due respect to our agriculturist friend over there, since when was Dantooine the only simplton planet in the galaxy? At the last census, weren't there over five hundred THOUSAND planets in this galaxy, of which less than one percent even bother to convene at this location for peaceful talks?"
Nathan paused and looked around the Senate.
"A culture can be preserved, quite easily, with help from both parties, but it requires that you do not have such an activist representing you in the senate! You must be willing to deal with the opposing party, rather than circumvent them and try for a higher authority. What exactly do you have against being industrialized Mr...Valore? Your arguements of losing a culture of such...diverse planting and farmland could very easily be seen as just an attempt to save your own job. Or perhaps a farm at home?"
One of Nathan's aides began transmitting information on Senator Valore to Hale's datapad.
The Corellian Senator looked around and kept a neutral look on his face. A good portion of the core planets would almost definately throw in their votes with the Industrialization project. The question is where the middle and outer rim would stand. The subject had been debated from Kashyyyk to Corellia. Simply put, a planet requried at least a medium amount of industrialization to come into contention with the rest of the galaxy's finest. Dantooine had the resources, her administration was just too stubborn to use them.

Vilmar sighed. The Chair does not recognize the Corellian Senator at this time. He looked around and went on searching for the Sith represenatives. The Chair will, however, recognize the represenatives of the Sith Empire on regards to the Dantooine Industrialization Project. He sighed. He felt years older than he was. He took a sip of water and prepared himself.

"The damage is already done." A voice said from behind Nathan, as he sat back down.
"You cannot topple another's resolve with only one blow. It requires many." Nathan looked back at his aide. "However, I just made him look very bad in light of his own accusations."
Anyone who votes with him now just look like they're trying to save his job. Porkbellied votes. Gotta love em. Nathan thought as he turned back to the Senate and took a sip of water. His throat had been aching after even the shortest of speeches. Old age it seems, had finally caught up with the Senator.

Yevila had been sitting with Gwen behind the head senator for Corellia, him begin the 2nd senator he though it appropriate to speak to Nathan, wondering if the man minded a civilian in there hover pod he spoke normally his plain and business like voice, echoing softly with knowledge.
"True, it takes many blows to crush another's resolve. However with one or two well aimed ones..."
Yevila trailed off, he knew that his brother would disapprove of the industrialisation of Dantooine , since it was the location of the second Jedi temple however it was a vast planet which could profit from such a thing.
"The sith empire will not back down from there views lightly, so don't be dishearten, they will win over the remaining votes... only those loyal to Dantooine and the supreme chancellor will vote against it... and those numbers where thinned just now as he tried to warm the black heart which is politics...the Industrialization project will be given the green light..."
His words where mostly true, it would take a miracle for the senate of disapprove of the Industrialization project, it was so well put forward by the sith empire, however something about it troubled Yevila. His brother had told him neither Sith or sith could be trusted.

Supreme Chancellor Vilmar hated the Sith. He hated their veiws on polotics. He hated the way they did business. He hated them. They were the single most greatest threat to his beautiful Republic. Somehow though he always felt much older than his 54 years when he dealt with them. And some of these younger, hot-headed senators.
"When will they learn that their way of life is not the only way?, he asked himself. It didn't matter though. There would be no way that this little Sith attempt to take over Dantooine would work. There were too many senators sided with him. And this little project would probably require the ousting of the Jedi from the planet, which he was positve that they wouldn't allow.

[[ooc: ....uhh...Dude, most of the Senate would vote FOR industrialization, without hesitation. The only ones who wouldn't would be some of the Senators from the outer and middle rims...the chancellor wouldn't have the support of the Senate if he attempted a veto.]]

(Besides the fact that is not true, but whatever ) Valore nodded to Yevila. As he had prepared for, there was much opposition. And so the war of Words had begun. He gazed lightly at his opposing senators, though many in number they had yet to unleash the words of their greatest ally, the sith Representative. [glow=white,2,300] "And what, Senator, gives us, the sith, or any organization the right to decide what is best or fit for the people of another race. If I am not mistaken, slavery and virtual representation have both been illegalized in the Republic.
Each man, woman, and child has the natural right to choose what to do with the land of their fathers... It is not our right to dictate that to any system.
And, dear friend, there is no party who can claim the right to negotiate business rights on Dantooine... if they are not welcome. There is no debate here to be fought for that war was waged when our Constitution was founded. The people of Dantooine are the sole holders of their land... and that right cannot be waived.
If discussions are to be made for the right of industrialization, the people of Dantooine must open the table. We can not force them into giving up their ways of life.
You will slander and mock my work of representing a simple people. You will attempt to tarnish my cause and life. But you remember this. I served this Republic with my entire life. I fought on countless planets for a constitution I now fight harder than ever to protect. My career is set, now I only live to the reputation of the name I forged. What else can be expected of a man? [/glow] He stopped remembering his past and remembering the faces of the civilians he shed blood to protect. Now the very government he fought to protect thought of politically taking over a planet and giving it to those who had caused the galaxy so much pain already. This was madness at its finest. [glow=white,2,300] "Rather than destroying a population we must look to other planets who have no life, or do not object to our industry. It is innovation and valor in the business world that has provided the infrastructure on this Republic.
Let us not forget the power of our innovation. Mustafar was example of this. It was a lush world that is now little more than a lava pit. But its sacrifice can provide countless tons raw ore that was locked beneath its deep mantle for ages. Rather that industrialize, allow for the people, in their own will, to provide an offering and tax for the protection of the Republic. In this manner you industrialists can get your plot of the resources the people are willing to part with.
No damage, no waist, no death. Peace. This is how the Republic has stood for the Milena, why move to a method that will cause grief and pain of any kind when there is alternate ways. Why prod the lives of those in peace? When there are so many other enemies on the frontier, why should we turn suffering on ourselves?"[/glow]
