History:The inhabitants of Maltherion III were ruled under a single government. A wealthy nobleman arrived and a became a member of one of the larger towns. The inhabitants of Maltherion III had always believed in a single god called ‘The Light’. When the nobleman arrived, he brought with him a great deal of money, and he formed a specialised organisation which he called the Magdalene Order. They built their own Church and started a ‘religious revolution’.
The wealthy nobleman was prone to visions, and he saw one particular one that disturbed him. A revolution, that would destroy the Church. He kindly requested that the Church build up an Army to defend against any incursion made my demonic forces.
People began to flock towards the Magdalene Order, believing them to be the true path to ‘The Light’ rather than trusting the government. Town by town, city by city, people flocked to the Magdalene Order to pledge their allegiance.
The government saw this Church as a threat and eventually launched an attack on the Church.
The Knights of Magdalene had not yet been fully formed. Only one company of Crusaders and a dozen Angels had been trained.
When the government reached the temple, they besieged it. The Knights of Magdalene held out for several weeks before help finally arrived. A large army of civilians attacked the rear guard of the governmental forces, throwing them off guard. Hearing of this news, the Knights of Magdalene fought with renewed vigour.
Caught between the obscene masses of civilians and the elite few of the Magdalene Order the governmental forces eventually surrendered. Many of the troops, saw it as a sign of a celestial being that they had been beaten by religious forces. That they truly did have some kind of special force assisting them. Many of them turned and pledged their allegiance to the Magdalene. Those that didn’t turn were allowed to return to the government and report what happened.
After a few months, the Magdalene had influence in the entire planet, including Maltherion City. Peaceful protests began to tell the government to surrender all powers to the Magdalene Order. After months of protests, the government obeyed and gave all powers to the Church.
After all of the problems were dealt with, construction began once again on the army. Using the money of the planet, the Magdalene Order bought a fleet of starships to move spread it’s word to other planets. Those these ships were damaged, they were space worthy, so they were used and repaired on the go.
The town holding the temple of the Magdalene grew and grew and became a large city. It was renamed the Sanctum of the Magdalene. That one large city became the hub of the Magdalene Order, but they allowed the Capital to remain.
