Name: Silus Darrelliun Dodonna
Species: Human
Age: 42
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 176
Birth place: None (Was born aboard the Retarus in space. Father was born on Kuat)
Appearance:
Silus has an very hereditary look about him. He appears to be in his mid-30's. Like his father he stands at a rather average height of 6'0", looming over other, shorter people. He has an average build and lightly tanned skin, which is due mianly to his "hispanic" decent. He has short dark hair, roughly coming down to about halfway on his neck. The hair annoys him most of the time, especially in activities that require physical effort, and so he keeps it out of his eyes by holding it in place with his Naval cap. His dark hair and look are reinforced by his deep brown eyes.
On a downside Silus has a rather large nose, which he feels can sometimes get in the way, and is rather uncomfortable with it. Having said that, overall he has a rather good looking, "exotic" face that would please most. He wears his Republic Navy uniform almost constantly as if it were grafted to his skin. He had a few medals of distinction, nothing outstanding. His uniform is the common Orange and Yellow of the Republic, and is the same as the attire of most Admirals
Biography:
Silus Darrelliun Dodonna was born aboard the Hammerhead-class destroyer, Retarus. The Retarus was in many conflicts against the Sith when Silus was still not a year old. The birth of his caused the Ship's Captain, Delaro Darrelliun Dodonna - or "The 3D's" to his crew - to force himself even harder and make sure he and his ships crew came out of every battle victorious. Because of this Silus grew up with war all around, and even at the young age he was used to victory which shaped how he acted and was in later life, creating his very competitive nature. Silus' Mother died in Childbirth so his Father was the only person close to him. Straight from birth his father raised him up with the prospect of him joining the Navy, as did most of Silus' ancestors dating back at least to the Jedi Civil War.
His father was a constant help to the Republic's war efforts. Although there were no major clashes, his father often helped in skirmishes, fending off small scale Sith attacks and scattered Mandalorians looking for a little last bit of glory by attacking a Republic vessel. Delaro took these oppertunities to teach Silus, and imprint the makings of a good Captain on his impressionable mind. Silus would sometimes stay on the bridge, at the heart of the action. Through his father he wouldn't wander around touching things like a normal child. He wouldn't ask questions, he'd just stand there watching intently. Of course being such a young child, exposing him to the horrors of war was fairly strange for normal parents, but it helped condition Silus for future conflicts. He has never been psychologically effected by war, because of it. But then again he has never seen the face of someone he has killed.
The first true battle Silus ever saw was on in space between several Sith frigates. The Republic was highly outnumbered. The fighting raged between the two factions, openly. After a short while of intense flanking, deflection and firing a few of the Sith frigates exploded in a magnificent display of debris. That was when the tide turned for the Sith. Opening a weakness in the other Hammerhead Cruisers defenses the remaining two Sith frigates managed to fire hits in, destroying the other Republic ship. The Retarus was on it's own. As the Frigates switched their fire to the Retarus, the Captain turned to his son. Silus was now 12 at this point, and had a good understanding of tactics and stellar warfare. Silus would never forget his and his father's words.
"I'm sorry I could never take you where I promised Silus, make your way to the escape pods... At least you won't die with the ship."
Silus looked around the bridge, the men were acting in panic, they knew that they were going to die, and weren't making an attempt to defend the ship. The cannons were unmanned, the shields were dissapated over the entire ship. They needed their leader.
"But father... The battle isn't over yet. We can still win, can't we? The crew need you."
Delaro looked at his son, proud of what he just said. It showed his son believed in him and his competence as a Captain. Wiping a tear from his face, the Captain stood up from kneeling down, to reach his son's level. Walking back to the Command Deck of the Bridge. Delaro clicked on the speaker which he used to address the crew. Rallying his men he managed to pull everyone back to their stations through an inpiring speech, and began to stand his ground and fight. The two remaining frigates circled around the ship firing inwards at the Retarus. Using his brain Delaro guided his ship out of the pattern the Sith were rotating in, bringing it forward, guiding it past the first Sith frigate, pelting it's hull with all it had as it passed. The Sith frigates were strong but not strong enough to resist that much firepower. The first frigate soon collapsed under the might of the Republic Cruiser. The remaining Sith Frigate, it's crew, in a state of shock, decided to flee rather than face the full frontal force of a Republic Cruiser, and an obviously superior Captain.
Captain Delaro was promoted to Admiral at the end of the battle as the victorious cruiser returned to Republic Command at Coruscant. His father got credit for the battle, but he knew that it was Silus who inspired him to do what he did. Silus' hero was his father, and his father's hero was Silus from that moment on. Silus stayed on the ship with his father still. Nothing much signifcant happened again, as space seemed to return to what it was when he was younger, and did so for the next few years until Silus reached the age of 20.
Though he had no formal education or qualifications, Silus was classed as being a veteran of space conflicts and well versed in logistics and naval tactics, and being the son of a well known war hero, Silus was welcomed with open arms into the Republic Navy as a low ranked officer. In the classes he took to further his knowledge and gain qualifications Silus passed them all top of his class, his knowledge already expanding to, and beyond the questions asked. Silus' cocky attitude and competitive attitude annoyed a few of the other cadets who ended up disliking him. He didn't care though as long as he was winning.
At 24 Silus was offered an opening as a tactical advisor on a Republic blockade runner, which he hastily accepted as a means of showing he had experience in battle that could be better put to use in a decent position, such as command of a sector of a ship or a single ship itself. He hoped it wouldn't be long before he was promoted. However, he slightly misjudged his abilities. Though his council was appriciated, it wasn't much heeded, which could often annoy him. He slowly rose through the ranks. There was very little conflict he was involved in, so he hardly ever had the chance to prove himself, but eventually one such day did come.
It started off as a fairly normal day, Silus rose from his quarters early as usual and got to his post before the others, hastily relieving his opposite shift counterpart. He was impatient most of the time and still arrogant and cocky but he did his job adequately and knew what he was doing. It was only about an hour or two into his shift when two Sith Cruisers dropped out of Hyperspace in the system the small frigate's patrols were in. There were only four of the Republic frigates. It would be a hard battle but it was doable. The Captains of all 4 ships - following the advice of their tactical advisors - moved forward to create a wall like formation of ships that could pelt the Sith vessels from the side. The tactic worked for a while, reducing the Sith's shields to roughly 40%, that was until they got close.
As soon as the Sith got close the Republic was forced to break formation (or risk being rammed), this caused the advantage the Republic had to diminish, the Sith bombers were launched from the Cruisers and began to make bombing runs directly onto the hull of the Republic Frigates. This caused extreme losses to the 4 frigates, destroying one and killing the CO of another - the one Silus was on. Thinking quickly for the safety of the ship, crew and himself, he quickly took over the reins that the Captain had dropped and became the de facto leader of the ship. Issuing instructions to the crew he managed to pull the ship together. With his grasp of tactics and experience he had from when he was with his father, he ruthlessly and, efficiently led the remaining Republic troops to push the Sith Cruisers back and assume another wall formation, taking advantage of the Sith's lumbering speed decimating their shields. After losing their shields the Cruisers were destroyed utterly before they could get in close again. The Sith Bombers were soon mopped up by the other Auto-turbolaser turrets on Frigates. Silus had led the Republic to their first victory at the age of 26.
When Silus contacted Republic Command about the victory, he was named a successful naval officer, and promoted to the position of Captain now that the space was free, following the previous battle. Now he had his own ship, his own crew, and some recognition within the Republic Navy, he decided to put in to serve under his father's command again, this time on different vessels. The new change of scenery allowed him to interact with much more colourful characters. Under his father he was placed a Jedi onboard his ship, to transport with the fleet. This oppertunity, lasting just over 2 months gave Silus a different outlook on his position of command. The Jedi were the epitomy of focus and concentration, good traits for any Naval Officer to have. Over the 2 months, Silus without a doubt developed a stronger concentration ethic and began to become much more patient with himself and his crew, developing a sort of peace. Without a doubt, his 2 month "training" helped him become much more popular with the crew.
5 years later, a time came where Silus was called away for patrol missions on the edge of the Ryloth system, where stange activities had been witnessed, of course the Twi'lek suspected the Sith were preparing an invasion of their planet, and petitioned the Republic to send someone to scout it out. This job ended up being assigned to Silus who left his father's fleet, for Ryloth almost immediately. There was a sense of nervousness in the air about being sent alone. Many of the crew said they had a bad feeling, almost like the Sith wanted them to come to where he was. It was soon revealed what exactly it was.
Upon reaching the area the Twi'leks had reported the ship was ambushed by a force of at least 4 warships. Alone Silus didn't have a chance no matter how intelligent he was. The odd thing was, the ships didn't bear the insignia of the Sith. Indeed they had no insignia at all. They were pirates. The pirate group didn't attack, the ship was too useful to be destroyed. Instead they docked with the ship and over run in, kidnapping Silus. They had somehow discerned that he was the son of the by now famous Admiral Delaro Darrelliun Dodonna, who had aparantely recently uncovered and destroyed a Pirate base in the Outer Rim, it appeared however that the Pirates were out not for revenge, but for compensation.
Silus spent a number of years in the company of the Pirates, his ship was with him all the way through it, but he never had control of it. The pirates would often be actually quite civil with them, and Silus would reply back in courtesy. He never meant it however. The entire time he was in captivity he spent it gathering mental notes on the naval strength of the pirate group. He also took note of specifics like how powerful certain ship's shields were, and the average speed of the individual ships. Tactical information any decent commander could use to gain a superior upper hand on the opponent. Still he felt like he shouldn't have had to gather all this information for a possible battle. He expected that his father would pay the ransom. Yet it never came, and Silus remained in captivity. After 4 years in the poor hospitality of the Pirates, he and his crew grew sick of waiting for the ransom to come. They wouldn't wait any longer.
The one mistake the Pirates made were keeping the main commanding officers in a cell together. Over a few nights of studying the layout of the pirate base, the officers and Silus devised a plan to escape captivity for their ship, after freeing the crew. It took a lot of effort from all the crew, and for the first time Silus had to kill someone who wasn't hidden by a ship's hull. He knew it was neccessary however, and easily coped with the mental implications of killing a hostile pirate. Only a few of the officers made it out after the daring escape, most of the general crew were already held on the ship already, so freeing them wasn't terribly difficult for Silus and the other Officers. While most of the pirates slept, the ship broke free from its holdings, and managed to get a safe enough way from the ships to jump into Hyperspace before the other ships even had a chance to power up their weapons.
Silus decided it was time to get some answers. He had spent two years in hostile captivity without even an attempt to rescue him made by the Republic or even more heartbreakingly; his father. However upon arriving at Coruscant, it was revealed that Silus' father had died 4 years ago, in a retribution from a separate set of pirates. This and his previous experience with pirates solidly hardened his attitude towards them. He persued the death of Sith, as his main priority, but the revalation into his father just made pirates to be joint top of the list. Any Sith and Pirates that met Silus from the point on would be treated with little mercy. The Republic Navy game him an upgrade in ship, they granted him his father's ship, the Retarus and with it memories of Silus' childhood came flooding back.
Now 35, Silus began to work with a new drive, working in memory of his lost father. 7 years passed in routine checks, patrols and skirmishes, nothing significant than a few minor promotions here and there from basic work. In this time he met and married a crew member, a woman who worked on the Retarus as the navigator. The navigator and Silus had a son together, who they named Delaro. He wanted to work his way up from Captain, to Admiral, so he could in essence follow in his footsteps but never truly wanted to expose his son like he had been. He just wanted to protect him. However what was originally a small check on the planet Selonia, turned into a rather large conflict, the pirates Silus escaped from over 7 years ago had finally caught up with him, their fleet numbered eight, while Silus had only one ship along with a small escort. Now he was in the bigger ship he tried to reverse engineer his plans from so long ago from dealing with the Sith capital ships. Using the opposite of the tactics he used, he managed to divide the ships from each other, allowing them to be pulverised by the powerful Hammerhead's cannons. He also managed to guide the smaller bomber craft into attacking the other ships, and acting as a distraction to buy time. After quite a gruelling 4 hour battle, Silus emerged the victor over the pirates as the last frigate was destroyed. The victory was quite well recieved by the Republic high-command. Recognising the odds were against Silus and he still managed to pull through the victor through superior tactics and drive, the Republic were pleased to announce that at last, after 22 years of effort and determination, that Silus was to be the Republic's newest Fleet Admiral.
After finally achieving his life's goal Silus has become much more content in his demeanour. He has become more patient and thinks a lot clearer in situations that some would find incredibly stressful. With a cool head, positive attitude and superior tactical mind. Silus seeks to lead his fleet to victory against all those who would threaten the Republic from space.

Silus had always liked First-Mate Dyrann. He had an odd attitude for someone in his position. He always came across as cocky, arrogant and over sure of himself. But that was probably why Silus liked him, he saw a lot of himself in Dyrann, a lot of talent. Without a doubt, after a bit of a talking to, he could make a decent Captain. Maybe even an Admiral, but right then wasn't the time for thinking about people, it was tactics.
"As you can see, Admiral, they're coming up from the left flank, trying to circle our defenses through the hole in our fighters. It's a tough sell, but I think we can launch some reserves to fill that gap if we send them out now." Dyrann spoke, as serious as possible. If Dyrann was being serious, they were in trouble.
It was in all honesty, a fair plan, it could work if they were lucky, but too many lives were at stake to base a tactic on luck.
"It's a sound plan, Dyrann, but it may fail. We need something solid. Something that will surely work."
Silus brought his hand to his chin, as he began to stroke it his eyes fixed on the map of the area, relaying all tactical data to him. He had a plan but it would require him taking the heat of one of the Sith cruisers. It was a heavy sacrifice but it was one he needed to make as an Admiral.
"Yythek, take those lower turbolasers off that Sith cruiser, I want them reinforcing our defense lines immediately.
One of the men sat down in the numerous chairs around the bridge of the ship, nodded his head, too busy to reply as he began to tap away at the keyboard infront of him, as if driven by rocket fuel.
"But Admiral, if we take the heat of that cruiser it might be able to recover it's shields and join the frontal assault. Dyrann said, rather astonished at the tactic Silus was planning to use.
"And if we don't reinforce it with something more than fighters the entire fleet could fall within the next 10 minutes.
Dyrann nodded, understanding the situation. A jolt then hit the ship, sending a few crew members staggering. A woman fell to her knees and items fell from tables. In a rush Silus rushed to one of the bridge windows, staring out at the debris, scattering from the direction of the Sith cruisers. Silus turned his head to get a greater look at the Sith battle lines. They had been hit from behind. A Hammerhead destroyer had dropped out of Hyperspace directly behind them, catching them off guard and turning them into space dust. Silus brought up the Captain of the ship on the comm channel, giving him a sharp salute as he appeared on the screen.
Before he could begin speaking he turned around to Dyrann, he could deal with more personal issues now the battle was practically over, the other Captains had the ability to command their own ships.
"Dyrann, check on my son. Make sure he's ok, and if he needs anything. You get it for him."
Dyrann nodded before making his way through the doors out of the Bridge. Silus turned back to the comm screen and began to issue casual orders through the comm channels to each of the individual captains, there were still a few Sith ships remaining.
The battle was won. The war still raged.
