Name: Savani Di'Akhaim (Commonly called Sav)
Species: Human
Age: Unknown. All records indicate an age between 24 and 28
Height:6'0"
Weight:180lbs
Birth place: Coruscant
Appearance: Savani is an average-looking human. His body is well-toned, not overly muscular or slim. He tends to wear black, and carries a small blaster pistol on his hip. A scar runs from an inch above his left eyebrow to his left cheekbone, a remnant from his days as a ganger in the slums of Coruscant.
Biography: Savani was born to some unnamed mother, in an unnamed slum of Coruscant. He was alone for most of his juvenile life, and grew to be very self-sufficient, as well as developing an utter lack of loyalty. Sure, he wouldn't betray for no reason...but if it was a life or death choice, he came first.
A story the ex-ganger-turned-officer is apt to tell, more often after a few glasses of a potent drink than not, is just how a slumchild got accepted into the Republic's military, and even more so how he managed to fumble his way through the Officer's School.
"You see, the one thing that being a loner gave me was an utter lack of a background. Yeah, I've killed, yeah, I've done some awful things to a lot of not so awful people and awful people alike... but none of it's on paper. They can't prove any of it, I was always careful to make sure of that. Didn't want to end up on some forsaken mining camp or some other horrible place, the rumours of which are all too common down there. And when I enlisted, they didn't ask for papers, or identification, or any of the crap they do now... 'Can you fight?' 'Yessir' 'Can you follow orders?' 'Yessir' 'Can you sign this piece of paper?' 'Yessir'. That was about it then...now it's not."
Savani went into the Republic's military a Private, like most others. He was one of a fair amount who were trained as a scout, though he loathed his position at the front, thinking it far safer in the middle of a squad. Point had the highest casualty rate, after rear guard ((Actual fact, look it up. =P)), and Savani knew very well that he didn't want to die.
He got his wish on one of uncountable numbers of patrols, when his squad's transport was shot down by insurgent forces. His squad leader and nearly half his squad dead, Savani took command of his motley squad while still in the crippled ship, and lead them into hostile territory.
Fighting only where necessary and sneaking the rest of the time, sleeping only in defensible positions with lots of cover and shadow, it took the four men nearly a week to even find where the nearest Republic pickup would be.
The only problem they'd faced so far was an acute lack of food. Starved and tired, they were in no condition to fight when an enemy squad happened upon the four. One was cut down in a quick, rapid hail of blaster fire, another took a shot in the knee, blowing it out. Savani drew his pistol, salvaged from his dead officer, and shot one of the attackers through the head. Glancing at his remaining unwounded squad member, he motioned him over. The three were behind a fair amount of cover, blaster fire cracking harmlessly against the crumbling stone ((Or well...universe-appropriate construction matieral)).
Just as they started to get a plan together they thought would work, a blaster bolt penetrated the barricade, smashing the wounded soldier just under the brim of his helmet. Savani looked at his remaining man, and at the four soldiers still coming at them. He rolled from cover, quickly crouching in a modified weaver's stance, and fired three times, hitting two soldiers and killing one. Laerost, the other surviving squadmate, dived out, his heavy blaster at the ready. He cut down another, shearing off a second's arm. In a few seconds more, it was over, two Republic soldiers left alive, and no insurgents.
Another day's travel, made possible by the lessened food burden, and the two were at the pickup zone.
For his actions on this planet, as well as providing a fairly good map for the deployed counterinsurgency forces, Savani was offered a commission if he would attend Officer's school. The surviving squad mate was promoted to Corporal, and helps to lead Lieutenant Savani's forces through thick and thin.
