This is Elssar Ransen reporting for ENN.
Conflict has arisen upon a number of Republic worlds in the Outer Rim. More and more members of Mandalorian heritage have risen in an attempt to break free of their Republic overseers. This has led to a number of skirmishes and casualties for both sides.
For the Mandalorian people, this is a battle for freedom. Ever since the Treaty of Mandoa, a treaty which by rights should not have been enacted by the Republic, the Mandalorians have been dubbed as Republic citizens. But is that how they have been treated? The Republic restricts and regulates what they can do, and separated many of them from one another. Such acts are not the sign of a gracious and benevolent government, but of a harsh, vindictive and controlling one.
Members of the Empire have spoken out in protest against this treaty, claiming that it is nothing more than an attempt to mask a forced slavery of the Mandalorians, who are now working on planets for the sake of the Republic, and monitored by military forces. However, instead of hearing the protests of these people who only wish to be free, the Republic has instead resorted to military action to make sure the Mandalorians are controlled.
It is for reasons such as these that the founding members of the Empire broke away from the Republic to begin with. The corrupt senators who form the Republic’s government contradict their own laws and care not for the suffering of the people in the Outer Rim, only for the luxury in which they can live knowing that the Mandalorians are slaves to their whims.
