Species Name: Diarella
Species Type: Humanoid
Planet of Origin: One of the Moons of Iego
Average Maximum age: 15 years
Age of Maturation: 1 year
Average Height: 5’4” for men, 6’1” for women
Average Weight: 500 lb. for both sexes
Notable biological features:
Diarella generally look like regular humans, with humanoid bodies and the same features that define a human. Their skin however, as well as complexion, is near perfect, with a sort of translucent glow that makes their bodies look flawless. Their skin tones have the same wide variety as humans though, as well as facial features. The big difference however, is that Diarella have big, feathery, white wings on their backs. These wings usually are long enough that they drag on the ground when Diarella walk, with an average wingspan among the Diarella of 16 feet. The Diarella also grow a lot faster, going through adolescence and turning into an adult within a couple months, and after a year, stop aging on the outside, but on the inside they age at a faster rate than normal humans although not as fast as during their first year of life.
Number of limbs and Type: Same as humans, plus the wings.
Culture:
Diarella don’t retain any of their old culture from their original home, and instead adopted human mannerisms and culture. Most Diarella, however, have wildly different personalities and outlooks on life than humans. The Diarella always had an incredibly short lifespan, and so everything in the world is that much more beautiful and meaningful. Even Diarella that don’t know any others of his/her kind are like this. They are a fearless, passionate race, that loves and hates aggressively,
History:
The Diarella were derived from the Angels, or Diathim, from the moons of Iego. They started out as a simply weaker variation of the Diathim, until some explorers following an old folk legend stumbled upon their moon homeland, one of the farthest moons from Iego. These explorers brought some of these early Diarella back as ‘proof’ of what they thought was a magical place full of possibility. The ships, however, were hijacked by pirates and the explorers were slaughtered. The Diarella captives however, were viewed as gods to the pirates, and were brought to one of their bases to bless them.
Treated and worshipped as deities, they lived the high life giving archaic and usually meaningless advice from time to time to the pirates, and would start to mingle with the pirates, with the Diarella population turning more and more humanoid and losing their skin’s light and the extra wings of the Diathim. This peaceful existence continued for awhile as the bases grew and their numbers expanded, as the pirates started becoming a unified force, and the Diarella lived in luxury while taking a backseat watching the bases grow and the pirates shift to more honest ways of living.
This was all put to an end however, when a vigilante group sacked most of the smaller bases, taking the Diarella this time as slaves, while the Diarella at the initial base, who still resembled their Diathim ancestors, committed suicide, effectively locking those traits and genes away from the surviving Diarella. 90,330 BBY, the Diarella are brought around the galaxy and sold all over, spread throughout different planets, with no single congregation of them anywhere. Many have broken free of their bonds through force or still being thought of as angels, but these individuals are still spread out and live their own lives. Some go back to the moons of Iego, but are treated with hostility as an inferior species to the Diathim, and most who go back to their homeland are wiped out because of this. The bulk of the Diarella however, just make their own place in society, dreaming for a unified tomorrow.
