Although still nearly as short as she was when she became a padawan, and still appearing as timid as she was when she was younger Myri has nonetheless grown up. Her brunette hair has grown rather long and to keep it tidy Myri has taken to tying it in an elaborate braid. Her eyes remain as blue, perhaps becoming more intense as she's grown. Myri still prefers to wear the standard Jedi robes as a Padawan. Personality Profile Myri has become more confident since leaving her youngling years. She no longer looks like the least confident person in the room and has since embraced failure, now seeing it as the pathway to learning new things. Myri has also become more competitive, striving to do the best she can in order to inspire herself and those around her. Myri has a whole tends to be rather nice. She remains polite to almost everyone she meets regardless of how much she dislikes them. She has become a rather bright personality, encouraging others, talking to those around her, and having fun around the temple. Myri struggles somewhat to control her emotions as a proper Jedi should be able to. She highly values the life of those around her and strives to be a pacifist. Myri was unfortunately born blind. They lived several hours away from the nearest hospital. Resulting in her force sensitivity going undetected until later on in her life when she fell extremely ill and had to be taken out to the hospital. Out this far her midichlorian count was not read until later on in her life. Her parents loved her, but were disappointed at the lack of another farm hand. Nevertheless they raised her the best they could. However, their lifestyle left little time to make exceptions for a blind girl. Upon her fifth birthday as part of a routine checkup it was found she had a higher than average midichlorian count. Her parents while sad to see her leave, gave her up to the Jedi. With a new home at the temple she fell into a slight depression at being removed from her parents. However the prospect of new friends quickly lifted her spirits. At the Jedi temple Myri learned to use the force to "see". It didn't allow her to see, but it allowed her to sense the objects around her. Although she trained in the basics of the force. Telekinetic based powers avoided her. Myri believes it because she can't truly visualize the object being effected. She put as much effort into what she could learn though. Into learning to use the force as best as she could. With her "sight", she gained more confidence in her abilities. She began to have morning runs around the temple, starting slowly as a walk in her beginning months. She continues to run the same path as a youngling, afraid to try a new path for fear she'll mess up and trip. With training sabers Myri had her largest issues. She couldn't see her masters teaching the younglings. Leading to her hitting herself more times then actually learning the forms. Overtime she learned rely on the force to guide her saber. While still not the best due to her lack of sight, she can defend herself if she had to. As a person at the Jedi Temple Myri considers herself below average. She feels she must try harder to compete. She tries to push herself farther each time she tries something. However fearing she'll mess up she may only push herself part of the way she could. Resulting in stagnated progress. She respects others however, if she can she tries to help them as best as she can. She is not afraid to ask for help, however those impatient with her may find her lack of progress annoying. Shortly before she turned 13 Myri was picked by Knight Silene as a padawan. Silene was an inspiration for young Myri. Patient and willing to help Myri overcome her condition and yet still confident in Myri's ability to become a full fledged Jedi. With her tutorage Myri began to break out of her shell. Myri's first step with her new master was finally leaving the Jedi Temple. Their destination was Zelos II, the homeworld of Master Silene. The mission was rather simple. A rather large transport had suffered a mechanical failure and had crashed inside the city. Thousands had been injured or had died and healers were needed and so Master Silene had volunteered. It was an experience for Myri. Just leaving the temple on Coruscant to go to the spaceport had exposed her to so many people in the force. She had never been exposed to so many people before. Their landing on Zelos went smoothly and Myri was introduced to the work of a healer. Myri had her first experience helping the injured. With very little training in healing she was delegated to helping the more fortunate with minor bruises and scratches while her master focused on the more major injuries. Myri found the work satisfying, easing the suffering of those around her and proving that her blindness wasn't a complete liability. Their return to Coruscant resulted in a change for Myri, who decided that she wanted to be a Jedi Healer. With a decision made Myri soon began to learn as best as she could in the Healers wing alongside her master. As on Zelos she was kept to minor injuries such as cuts or bruises but she found that healing made her feel better about herself and her mission as a Jedi. She eagerly told Master Silene that she wanted to be a healer. Myri soon began more intensive studies in order to help her become a healer. Although still to young to learn more advanced topics such as anatomy she began to learn how the body of most species worked and concepts of biology. It was when Myri turned 14 that her master took her to Illum to work on her first lightsaber as a Padawan. The thought of getting a real lightsaber turned her stomach. Their landing on Illum left Myri wondering if she was even ready for such a tool. Nonetheless she followed her master into the temple, far more nervous than she had ever been before. When they set up camp her master told her the worst news, that she was to go into the caves and find her crystal herself. Myri could rapidly feel the warmth leave. With encouraging words from her Master, Myri hesitantly continued deeper into the caverns of Illum alone. She wandered for hours, allowing the force to guide her through the complex maze. She eventually found her crystal, surprised she hadn't found it sooner. Just the feel of her crystal seemed to give her confidence. She wasn't surprised when she made her way back to her master with little issue. Their arrival back to Coruscant marked a rather more confident Myri. One who ran through the halls to her room to build her lightsaber avoiding fellow Jedi by inches as she trusted the force to guide her. With her crystal in hand she began the long process of attuning it to herself, allowing the force to flow through her and to the crystal and from the crystal to her. It was weeks later that Myri first activated the light saber. Myri almost felt as if she could see the smile on her master's face, almost see the color of the blade itself. With her own lightsaber in hand Myri began her lightsaber training in earnest. As Myri turned 18 her master soon took her on another mission. They were to visit a Corellia and assist the medicorps for a few weeks or so. The mission started out fine with Myri going through the routine of healing those who needed help. However the end of their mission did not end on a good note. It was late on her final day when she finished helping for the day. She returned to the supply closet to return some unneeded supplies when she encountered a man stealing supplies. She confronted him and he pulled a vibroknife and attacked her thinking he could overcome a young blind Jedi. The mistake was his last. Myri's lightsaber was in her hand in an instant and without thinking she cut off his hand with her first stroke and with her return stroke decapitated him. It was the first time Myri had taken a life. She had lost patients healing but never had she taken the life of another being. She had panicked and overreacted, resulting in the death of someone who had stopped being a threat the second she had cut his hand off. She found herself falling to her knees begging the corpse there for forgiveness. Her master found her and after a short investigation both Jedi returned to Coruscant. Once there Master Silene consoled young Myri, reminding her that there was little she could have done and that was partially why she trained with the lightsaber. It was weeks later that Myri found herself taken from Master Silene. Based on her actions and her reaction the Jedi Council felt that Myri required a master who could help her better control her emotions, and teach her better control in stressful situations. With that said, she was given to Master Serseth, a Jedi Knight who was almost the exact opposite of herself. Under Master Serseth's tutelage Myri began preparing for her trials. Her master was relentless in training her. When they were at the temple they were training. Up before dawn, in bed at what felt shortly before dawn. Even leaving the temple for missions was not a reprieve from her master's strict regimen. When the Jedi Order joined the war effort her master and her would eventually spend more time on a battlefield then at the temple. It was during the Battle of Coruscant that Myri Vandreen and her master encountered their first Sith. The fight ended up with her master mortally wounded from a lightsaber wound through the gut, and Myri herself slashed across her back. Her master assumed her dead, in reality Myri had been captured. When the Sith retreated she was taken prisoner. Tortured until her captors felt she had given up all the information she had and finally sold into slavery. |
