Sirius had bounced back faster than Master Ka had probably expected. He bounced back even faster than he had even expected. He wanted to win, but Sirius knew there was no way he could against a very experienced Weapons Master. She had already shown him that she could crack his Soresu like she was cracking a nut open. And she had already landed several blows on him during his session alone. Had this been a real duel, Sirius would’ve been dead within seconds.
He would have to rely on simply impressing Master Ka instead, which he hoped he was doing a good job of. Master Ka had almost no facial expressions during their session; she had the straightest face Sirius had ever seen on a Jedi so there would be no way to tell if he was completing his goal. She simply stood there staring at him; thin mouth straight a saber blade and those black eyes staring him straight in the eyes, as though she was looking right through him. Her scar on the left side of her face stood out the most though, a testament to all the dark jedi she had fought before. Sirius would be wrong to say he wasn’t intimidated.
Then she moved. A simple vertical strike towards his left shoulder. Sirius swung his bronze lightsaber up with both hands horizontally to catch Master Ka’s saber. But right before they made contact, Master Ka changed the trajectory of her saber, instead going swinging horizontally for his neck. Sirius had only a second, if that, to react. He broke the two handed hold on his saber so he was only holding it with his right, and he ducked. Master Ka’s saber swung over the spot where Sirius’s head should be, but he hadn’t brought his right hand down in time. Her sky blue blade struck him right in the back of the elbow.
Sirius hissed in pain as the saber struck him; causing his arm to bend along with the saber and making him drop his own blade. Sirius’s hilt fell the floor and bounced around a little bit. The blade had shorted out when he dropped it, so it didn’t cause anyone any harm. Sirius stood up slowly after Master Ka deactivated her saber, feeling his arm as he did so. It was tender as if it had a big bruise, and a welt was already forming. Master Ka may not have seemed like it, but she was a very strong person.
Sirius fetched his lightsaber with the Force, calling to back to his left hand, his uninjured, hand. That very short 'duel', if you wanted to call it that, defiantly hadn't helped Sirius out with his goal. Or at least he thought it didn't. If he couldn't impress himself, how could he impress Master Ka? That last spar was just an embarrassment. He would need to do a lot better next time. He needed a reason for Master Ka to keep him as her apprentice.
“Ow…” Sirius said under his breath, not complaining about just his elbow, but his embarrassment also.
