A large board for helpful instructions etc.

I know there are threads and such floating about on this forum with character creation guides and the like. But I'm gonna be honest and you can play a hate, whatever, I don't care but I feel as though some of these 'help' threads only hold a snark and sarcastic tone that seems to belittle people new to the site or new to that particular area of apps. An occasionally seeing the same snark and abuse on the c-box towards newer members who are a bit 'green' to some of the people on this site.

What am I saying? I'm saying it's helpful or creating this 'friendly' environment or whatever on the site and is probably scaring/will scare away new members from the site when faced with this type of abuse. Not everyone is thick skinned and the ones who aren't so great at spelling or whatever might have reasons for that, or can have these skills developed. Plus these people are usually really nice people, which is a shame to see them face such remarks.

Perhaps put up a more friendlier help board/make the current board friendlier with people working on it who are understanding and not seeing it is a tedious thing to help people who aren't as knowledgeable as some people on this site with the whole canon.

It's what I think anyway. Argue against it, disagree with it or make remarks on how I'm totally wrong but it ain't changing what I think, even if that isn't much.

Well the problem is there are two types of these new members coming in, there are the dedicated ones who actually pay attention the fact there are rules, there are resources being given to them. Then there are the new members who come in and act like they walk on water, ignore advice and just do not care. I myself spent two weeks before i even signed up reading the rules and such to make sure i was ready, not saying everyone needs to do this but it helps when they actually pay attention.

Yes i'm sure there's snark, i mean everyone who was around remembers Xavier, and i have to use him as reference because he caused many issues just for the simple fact he refused to take advice and help from the very helpful members. No one is hard on the new members until they show themselves to be one of those two types, if they refuse advice, dont ask for help and think an app that is totally half baked will get passed without reading a single helpful resource or the rules well then they need to not be here.

I myself would like to keep this site a decent place, if such members were allowed to run rampant the site would go down hill. We do accept members of varying skill levels, but when they decide to be snarky well they get snark back, especially if after multiple times of being nice and helpful they continue to refuse to improve.

But I am not talking about those particular members entirely. One case I've seen recently is where said newbie would say something on the board to do with his character while making it, asking for some pointers or what to do etc. And sometimes he was met with sarcasm and snark, unless you're saying what the newbie was doing is snarky as well? Which I won't get, plus there's some 'help' boards that may have useful information on them, BUT, not without facing some sort wit and snark first. But like I said, I see what I'm saying and merely saying something won't change my opinion. Plus this a random stab at the site or the staff, nor a sudden accusation. I've looking over this during my stay on the site and though not as bad as others, there are signs of the very thing I'm discussing. It hasn't given me much faith in the help boards, hell I avoid particular helps boards and members because of the remarks at times.
