Down Time (Open)

Mal turned down the street, he was finally on leave. Three days without having to answer to superiors, three days without having to leave the planet on a moments notice. This was exactly what the doctor ordered, or at least what he requested from his commanding officer. Despite being in his civilian clothes, they were still kept at military standards. His black boots were perfectly shined, his dark gray pants were pressed, and tucked into his boots, and he wore a navy blue shirt. To add to his military appearance, he wore a blaster pistol at his waist. Though it couldn't be seen, there was a hold out blaster up his right sleeve.

Mal reached up and touched the ring handing from his neck, it had been his mother's before she was killed. He started wearing it, and had developed the habit of touching it when he was thinking over the last few years. And right now, he was trying to figure out what to do. However he was at a loss right now, maybe he could just go get a good meal. Or maybe he could go to the theater, both sounded good. Maybe he would do just that, it wasn't like he didn't have the time. He had three days.

Lost in thought as he was, Mal didn't notice the person in front of him suddenly stop. This caused him to run into this person, and as a form of reflex, Mal reached for his blaster. Chiding himself after a second, he released the grip he had on his pistol. There wasn't any threat here, he would have known if there was. He always did after all, his squad, along with his friends from school all thought he was the luckiest person in the galaxy. Though Mal knew this wasn't true, he still liked the thought of it. "Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you. Are you alright?"

Zett Rem had just gotten back from a good two hunts one that took him to Prazhi, oh the people he met there.
he chukled at the thought.

He also got him self a nice crew put together that he might want to call on latter.
just at thoes thoughts he felt someone run into him from behind...

"Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you. Are you alright?"
the man said to Zett.
Oh dont worry about it, did not hurt at all...

Zett started to chek himself slowly to make shur he did not just get hit my a pick pocket but the man looked nothing like a pick pocket he looked respectable and Zett still had all his belongings.
Zett then straightend his tee shirt and blue jeens.
Well im on my way to the Cantina Good bye...

Cantina? That actually sounded like a good idea, "Why not? Haven't gotten to a decent cantina in a while." Mal started off again, keeping pace with the other man. His only hope being that this cantina allowed weapons, and if it didn't that they didn't pat down their customers. He wasn't about to give up his hold out blaster. At least since he didn't know this guy, he wasn't quite that trusting, and it would take more than this man picking up his tab for him to trust him.

After walking in silence for a few seconds, Mal decided to start up the conversation. "Name's Mal Denton." He didn't see any point in lying, or trying to hide the truth. Besides if this guy tried to cause trouble, then Mal's teammates would be here to help before he knew it. They worked together extremely well, and they were friends. It seemed to help that he had saved their butts on a number of occasions. Though they had saved him just as many times.

"So which cantina?" Mal looked around, he never did like being surrounded by so many people. It made him nervous, but he tried not to think about it. He was an optimist, or so he had always been told at least.

"Name's Mal Denton." Zett heard the clean cut man say from behind him "So which cantina?".
my name is Zett Rem and as for the cantina its a place a friend told me about,its just over...
Zett stopped short to see a man being mugged be three other men.
Zett yelled at the top of his lungs...HEY LET HIM GO...OR PICK ON SOME ONE YOUR ONE SIZE...LIKE ME...
Zett now had both of his hidden wester 27 out and pulled to the men.
the two that had the man let him go and the third tried to grab him again but his hand was intercepted by one one shot out of one of Zetts guns.
Let,Him,Go.
Zett Rem may have been a bounty hunter but he was still kind at heart.
two more came around the corner from behind them Zett knew the two of them were out numberd but he had been in worse places before...

Mal felt the other two coming before he could see them, he couldn't explain it, he knew they were their. He wasn't as nice as Zett however, he crouched down and pulled his own blaster. He fired two shots, the red bolts aimed straight for the vital areas on the two muggers. "Republic Military, this is your only chance. Stand down and turn yourselves in, or we will kill you." It wasn't a threat, Mal could kill all of them and not loose any sleep that night, or even give it a second thought.

Zett had reacted fast, but he hadn't used lethal force. His aim however was dead on, so he was a superb shot and he didn't want to kill without reason. Not really all that bad of traits. Mal on the other had was used to being in combat, acting first and thinking later. He almost wished he had his blaster rifle, he was better with that than his pistol, but he was still excellent with his pistol.

"Well, which is it?" Mal held a death grip on his pistol, his finger ready over the trigger. His aim was set on the man closest to him.

[Adobi-Wan Kenobi]

"Republic Military, this is your only chance. Stand down and turn yourselves in, or we will kill you." the man said.
Ha i knew you weren't just a normal...
he stopped as two more shouted as the came from out from the in side of a trash can, Zett quickly blasted the one from the are in his jump...
HOW IN THE GALAXY DID THE KNOW WE WOULD BE HERE!?!/
Then Zett remembered the massing bounty on his head.
Oh great how much is it now?
he wished the he had his jet pack or his flame thrower with him.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE DON'T WANT TO STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW...

Mal fired two more shots, killing the last two of the original muggers. He was amazed by the number of muggers, and by the fact that they stayed and fought as opposed to running. Both of those added up to one of two conclusions, these guys were either very stupid, or very cocky. Maybe both.

Mal watched as the last remaining man fled the scene, he was tempted to subdue him, but decided against it. He was tired of the fighting, besides his CO was already going to have him shipped off to the Outer Rim for this. He liked it here too, he was near his home planet. It couldn't be helped now he supposed.

Pulling out his commlink, he switched to a police frequency. He gave their location and a brief rundown of what happened, as well as stating that he was military. Mal heard a response telling him to stay put, that authorities would be there shortly. "Not how I wanted to spend my three day pass." He muttered, holstering his weapon and checking on the victim.

[Adobi-Wan Kenobi]

"Not how I wanted to spend my three day pass."
Zett herd the man say.
Zett marched to the leader of the muggers and patted him down until he found a info card with a picture of Zett on it with a price of 20,000 credits.

Sith-Spit,i cant pay that off.
he stood and kicked the dirt on the ground.
Sorry for the trouble, Mal, this bounty on my head is going to get me killed some day if i don't fix it.

Mal spit on the ground in disgust, "No respect. If you're gonna ambush someone, do it without involving civilians." He said it more to himself than to anyone else, and in fact wasn't even paying attention if someone did reply. Realizing he still held his pistol, he holstered the weapon, he didn't want to scare anyone. Besides, if someone attacked him, he had a hold out blaster hidden up his sleeve.

Mal sighed and controlled his anger, there was no point in letting it guide him. That would only result in him going on a killing spree, which would be the end of him. "Please tell me that bounty isn't by a government, if it is you better get away from here now. The police won't hesitate to arrest you."

Mal asked.
No,no it's just a Blasted Hutt off of Tatooine,I've done nothing wrong to the Republic in fact i do most of my work for them.
Zett said kicking one of he bodies.
So,whats your rank? we might as well talk about something until they get here.

Mal glanced back at Zett, "Sergeant. Been in for about ten years now. What about you? One doesn't simply pick up those skills without reason." He walked down the alley and policed their weapons, scooping them into a pile. The blasters he couldn't help but notice were illegally modified, at least most of them. "You must have really pissed off the Hutts if they're willing to go this far."

Mal picked up one of the weapons, examining the modifications, "Impressive. This could punch through most Republic armor." He refused to remark that it could punch through his own armor, and realized that he probably needed to upgrade it. He was tempted to keep the pistol, but thought better of it. That would get him arrested and possibly hurt his career.

[Adobi-Wan Kenobi]

"Sergeant. Been in for about ten years now. What about you? One doesn't simply pick up those skills without reason."

Oh m I'm a wronged Bounty Hunter.
this is all my mentors doing he toughed me quite well.
as for the Bounty on my own head I'm a free slave and the Hutt that wants me sent Bounty Hunters left and right and almost all have gone back in body bags.
was all Zett could reply.

Mal listened to Zett's speech, then looked around again. He didn't like this, at least the cops would be here soon. Or at least he hoped they would, he just wanted to get somewhere and forget this night. Too many people had died, and he was eager to be away from this alley. "I see." Was all he could say to Zett.

A few seconds later the first of the cops showed up. Mal stated the facts, everything that happened from beginning to end. The officer then turned to Zett and waited for a similar statement.

The cop waited for Zett.
Zett let out a sigh and began.
Well we were walking down the ally, we were on our way to a cantina only a few blocks away, when i saw three men beating a man, i warned them to let him be but they kept on going and turned to attack us and i shot allowing the man to get away, we took out the thugs and one got away.
Zett part of the story fit with Mal's mainly because it was true.

After the Cops showed up they removed Mal and Zett went home.
the two droids asked about the night and Zett only could tell them it was crazy.
