Realism Of Starwars

Recent events inspired me to make this topic.

How many other people actually think about this? I mean I realize it's a SF designed in the eighties, but so was Lucifer's Hammer, The Mote In God's Eye, The Gripping Hand... etc etc.

Other great Science Fiction books were written around the same time with a wee bit more thought thrown into them.

I mean seriously. Lightsabers? Talk about a target on your chest.

Or even shooting at said target! What's with those tracers being loaded every single round in the gun?!?!

Snipers must hate Lucas, for their life expectancy has been reduced to less than a decimal of a percentage

starwars is sci-fi/fantasy very heavy fantasy and snipers could use slug throwers solves the blaster rifle bright light of doom (to shooter) effect more accurate too.

I don't understand why they use blasters really slug throwers have better chances of hitting jedi/sith/random glow stick wielders and are a lot more accurate, you have to be like no more than 20 feet away to have any real change of hitting with a freaking blaster "rifle".

Only problem is most of the light body armor can stop a slug thrower. They don't have enough punch.

Verpine weapons are the exception to the rule really.

I wasn't impressed with any of the weapons in Star Wars.

Ship to Ship combat is soooo 1650s

Long distance nuclear weapons and missiles FTW.

Really I'd think most SW armor would focus on defussing energy since 99.9% of everyone uses blaster rifles, I admit I made up my sniper chars weapon, there just wasn't anything I could find that really fit.

I seem to remember Stormie armor is actually only decent against slugthrowers.

The plates and all.

Anything with plating has a very good chance at screwing over someone with a slugthrower.

it is at this point that i'd like to bring up the creatures and races of starwars...... Lucas was seriously tripping.... look at the ithorins and mon cals.....UGGHHHH EWWW!!!

back to the Verpines vs. the slug...... guess what gun i have on my bounty hunter =)

The Falcon wasn't really that ugly too. At least I didn't think so. Looked like a ship

For the time it stretched the boundaries of visual media. It broke new ground in effects. Its rateing as far as I can recall (having researched) was a B SF film. Which makes sense as its lines are a little corny and all the actors disassociated with it after it was over... accept for Harrison Ford. But then again he and Lucas had a thing or something. He hired him from the work crew of American Graffiti right?
