Bio: Born and raised on Coruscant To Calle and Sorin Barret, Tycho always had a fascination with the military. His father had been a veteran of the Republic military but rarely spoke of his service. Still, Tycho's fascination persisted well into his adolescence.
He grew up as pretty much any average middle-class human on coruscant would. He went to school, he watched the news reports about the mighty jedi, and he threw garbage at shuttles. As normal a childhood as one could ask for in the largest city in the galaxy without many notable incidents.
His parents treated him with love and kindness, though his father worked long hours as a courier, leaving Tycho with only his mother for company at home most of the time.
living on a city-world, Tychos mother felt it was important for Tycho to learn to defend himself. His father seemed against the idea, but Sorin Barret made it a habit to not argue with his wife.
At age 6 Tycho began taking self-defense classes from an old battle-buddy of Sorin's. Erek Valais was a grizzled veteran, and he took his self-defense school seriously. Tycho seemed naturally adept at the skills Erek taught, and he quickly progressed through the training. When Tycho was 8 he made the mistake of asking Erek about his time serving alongside his father. Erek got quiet for a moment, and then turned to his student. "Your father hasnt told you, and neither will I. Do not ask me again" He said, with a sense of finality in his voice. "But-" Tycho tried to interject, but he was cut short by a firm back-handed slap to the face. Tycho fell to the ground, and for a long moment the two sat in an awkward silence. "I am sorry Tycho,' Erek said, moving to help the boy to his feet, "but you must not ask me that question again. Do you understand?' Tycho truthfully did not, but he nodded his head in agreement, knowing better then to press such a sensitive topic.
At age 11 Tycho suffered a terrible loss. His mother was killed in a gang-related shootout on her way home from work, her shuttle taking a hit from a heavy blaster directly to the engines and crashing into an investment firm. This incident drove his father to begin drinking heavily and left young Tycho to more or less fend for himself.
Tycho began to focus on his training with even more determination. He represented the Valais defense school at the Cross-Section Martial Arts Tournament when he was 13. He made it to the finals with relative ease and ended up fighting a young trandoshan in the last match. The trandoshan, who went by the name Rillik, was quicked than a creature of his race should have been, and though Tycho put up a good fight, he was beaten and came in second place.
Tycho was resentful of the gang violence that plagued his world and killed his mother. Erek could tell his pupil had an inner anger, and his loss in the tournament seemed to make him more depressed than he had been after his mother had passed away. He wanted to help Tycho channel it somewhere useful. he spoke to Tycho about maybe joining the constables someday, and his interest shifted from the military to law enforcement. He wanted to work to punish those who took his mother away and others like them. Erek began teaching him more advanced fighting techniques at an accelerated rate, and began teaching him more offensive skills and even melee weapons fighting.
Tycho learned quickly, and he entered more tournaments representing the Valais school. After a string of impressive victories he ended up in a planet-wide tournament for contenders 16 and younger. Tycho was 15 at the time, and he was the only 15 year old to make it past the second round of elimination fights. In the semi-finals he was once again matched against Rillik, the very same Trandoshan who had beaten him two years earlier.
The Trandoshan walked into the ring with a smug look on his face. He was extremely confident, but Tycho was not intimidated. The fact that his opponent had beaten him in the past didnt even factor into his mind. this fight was a new battle like any other, and Tycho was skilled at reading his opponents. He knew that Rillik could be beaten, and he intended to prove it.
Tycho made it a habit not to act arrogant, and kept a completely neutral demeanor as he approached the center of the ring. Rillik hissed at him and mocked him, reminding him of his previous loss, but Tycho paid no attention to his words. Instead he watched his body movements. It was slight, but he saw the trandoshan was favoring his right leg. The difference would have been invisible to the untrained eye, but to Tycho it was as obvious as the color of his clothes.
The matche began and Rillik lunged forward, trying to grab tycho by the shoulders. Tycho dropped to one knee and immediately kicked out at the injured lead left leg. Rillik grunted in pain as the strike hit home but quickly stepped forward with a right kick. Tycho immediately rolled to his right and kicked out again, hitting Rillik in the side of the knee and drawing a louder grunt than before.
The trandoshan spun quickly and attempted a backhand strike, but Tycho was faster and jumped up and backward, quickly lunging forward again just as the strike passed him and kicked the left leg again. That was enough, and Rillik fell to the ground in pain. Tycho wrapped his arms around his opponent's neck and locked in a tight blood choke. Trandoshans could hold thier breath for a long time, but with the blood supply to his brain completely cut Rillik was unconcious in approximately 20 seconds. Tycho let go of his grip and let the trandoshan slump to the ground.
The crowd was silent for a few seconds. Rillik had soundly beaten all of his opponents and was a favorite to win the tournament, and Tycho had just defeated him in less than a minute.
As turned to walk out of the arena someone finally began to clap, and immediately others joined it. By the time he was out of the ring all he could hear was thunderous applause.
In the finals Tycho was matched against a jedi padawan named Kal Pnuemon. Though Kal was considered to be a poor student amongst his peers, he was more than a match for most non force-sensitives. His master was considered unorthodox amongst his peers, and he encouraged his pupil to enter tournaments like these to match himself against different opponents and fighting styles. Kal was thus far not much of a jedi, but he was certainly a good fighter.
This fight was far longer than any other Tycho had engaged in so far, and twenty minutes in both fighters were exhausted. Kal's blows came with an added impact as he used the force to amplify his strength and speed, but Tycho predicted Kal's moves so well that the padawan suspected Tycho was force-sensitive himself and was using a form of premonition to predict his moves.
Finally Tycho got the upper hand. In his weariness Kal let a punch come in a little bit slow, a little bit sloppy, and Tycho quickly wrapped his left arm around the incoming strike and bent it upward. His right hand came in as a closed fist and hit the padawan square on the chin, sending his mind reeling. The dazed fighter made a last-ditch effort to break the arm lock, but Tycho swept his leg and sent the padawan to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. Tycho dropped to the ground and delivered one more punch to his oppnent's face, knocking him unconcious.
The crowd went wild, and Tycho couldnt help but feel proud of himself. He was sure Erek would be proud.
When Tycho went back to his locker room he was surprised to find Erek was not there. He decided to rush back to the school to see if his teacher was there waiting for him.
When Tycho got to the school he found it ransacked. From the back room he heard voices. There were two thugs still inside, talking.
he grabbed a training sword off the ground and crept toward the door.
"So boss is really this mad? Its just a stupid tournament"
"Boss bet alot on Rillik to win. Valais knew that. He shouldnt have let his boy compete."
"Still, we didnt have to kill the guy. He put up a hell of a fight."
hearing this, Tycho bolted inside. The thugs were standing over Erek's lifeless form, and there were three other dead bodies around the room. One of the thugs reached into his coat for a concealed weapon, but Tycho swung the dulled practice blade with all his might into the mans face, shattering his nose. The man fell to the ground, spewing expletives and blood.
The second thug reached for a pistol holster on his belt, but found it empty. He nervously looked to a nearby counter to where he had set the weapon down after shooting Erek with it. Tycho followed his eyes and saw the weapon as well. The thug made a move to grab it, but Tycho was faster. He swung his weapon down and broke the man's wrist. The thug yelped in pain and turned to run for the back door but Tycho didnt intend to let him leave. A powerful strike to his should sent him to his knees, and another across the back of his head dropped him to the ground. Tycho turned around to see the first thug trying to grab the blaster from the table, but his vision was impaired from the blood getting in his eyes.
Tycho quickly grabbed up the blaster and fired it into the thugs leg. At almost the same time he heard the sirens arrive as the constables showed up. Tycho dropped both weapons and put his hands in the air, shouting for the officers to come to the back room.
In the aftermath of the incident The constables told Tycho that the Bekstar Blacks, a local gang, had killed Erek in response to Tycho winning the tournament. As it turned out, The leader, Bek Lostho, had bet alot on Rillik to win. So much, in fact, that when he couldnt pay Droga the hutt had sent his own thugs to kill Bek and his crew. With the arrest of the thugs Tycho defeated the blacks were completely wiped from the streets.
Tycho was now alone. His father wa a drunk and the man who had been a father figure to him was dead. He focused all of his free time to training, going to different schools across his sector and learning several fighting styles. Most schools were happy to have him because of his reputation, but he would never spend too long in one place, not wanting to get too attached.
He signed up with the Constables office at age 18 and was a member of their Tactical Urban Combat squad by age 20. The TUC were brought in only to deal with situations normal constables wouldn’t be able to handle. They were more heavily armed and trained better, prepared to deal with almost any threat they might face.
His work brought him in contact with many Jedi and he began to grow disgusted with what he took to be an elitist attitude. His attitude toward them only worsened as he saw them given credit for operations that he felt him and his team carried most of the weight in. In a particular operation his squad entered a factory manufacturing assassin droids, fighting their way through a horde of the deadly machines and disabling the factory only to have a Jedi arrest the owner of the factory several blocks away in his upscale apartment with no shots fired and no danger of any kind. The reports on the holonets the next day read "Jedi takes down deadly droid manufacturer." with almost no mention of Tycho or his team, or the two officers who were killed in the operation.
When he was 24 Tycho went to check in on his father, who was now living in a slum and reportedly dying of liver failure. When Tycho got to the run-down apartment he found his father dead, a blaster pistol hanging in his limp fingers and smoke still coming from the hole in the side of his head. After his father's suicide Tycho was clearing out his belongings and found a crate with all of his old military gear. Along with uniforms, a carbine and an impressive list of honorable citations Tycho found his father’s diary. What he found inside would forever change his life.
His father had recorded his experiences within the republic military, including his participation in several "covert" operations. These operations had been approved by a small group of senators on what was referred to as the "Senate Black-ops Committee."
Tycho's father and his squad had been sent to silence political opponents on Coruscant. They had been sent to a small backwoods world to wipe out an entire small village to keep them from bringing their complaint against a larger corporation from getting out. They had been sent to Tatooine to help protect a slaver while he avoided paying the Hutts their share. They had even been sent to Kashyyk to kidnap wookiees for the purpose of being sold as slaves. His father had confessed to the diary that the only thing that kept him sane and allowed him to deal with the guilt had been his mother. The second to last entry in the journal read; "She is gone. It’s crashing in on me. I’m spiraling...."
On the last page there was a message to Tycho; "Son, I hope you understand now. I’m sorry I wasn’t stronger. I’m so sorry. Goodbye."
Tycho immediately resigned his post at the TUC and packed his things. He headed directly for Sith Space and vowed to himself that the next time he was on Coruscant it would be as a part of an army invading it to bring the republic down.
He had spent his life hating criminals, but his hate had been misplaced. It was the corrupt leaders in charge who were really to blame. The senators authorizing slavery, the corrupt governors accepting bribes to turn the other way, and even the jedi for having the power to stop the crime and corruption but choosing not to.
He made it into the lines of the Sith Empire and immediately joined their military. He rose through the ranks relatively quickly, with the buildup for their imminent war with the Republic the Sith needed men with combat experience and Tycho fit the role perfectly. During training it became clear to his superiors that Tycho was suited for more than just basic grunt work. His combat experience led him to be commissioned as an officer and assigned as a leader in a new regiment being formed; an elite Fighting force called the Raiders. He would be the Platoon Commander for 3rd Plt. G Company of the 1st Sith Raiders.
The Idea behind the Raiders was to have an elite, adaptable unit made up of veterans from all different backgrounds. In training each member of the unit was asked to share his experience and expertise from his particular background. They learned jungle-fighting and survival techniques from Mercenaries of Felucia, Desert warfare from Tusken-exterminators of Tatooine, and of course urban combat from warriors like Tycho from worlds like Coruscant and Nar Shadaa. Finally the Raiders were trained in ship-to-ship boarding actions as well, and learned to seize control of vessels while doing minimal damage to the ship itself. They were trained to be ready to be outnumbered, outgunned, and surrounded, but never out-trained. They would be prepared to be the vanguard for any attack.
With Their training complete the Raiders were sent into the field for their first test. At Mon Calamari the Raiders were used as shock-troops in several key-locations, and Tycho's 3rd Plt. was sent to capture a disabled frigate. The battle served as a proving ground for the raiders, with losses minimal and all objectives achieved. Tycho's platoon stood out among the rest, taking minimal casualties with none killed and seizing the Republic Frigate The Meadow with almost no damage and dozens of prisoners.
In the Aftermath of the battle the 1st Sith Raider Regiment was dispersed amongst the Sith Fleet Forces, with 1st Battalion remaining with the bulk of the Sith Fleet, prepared to be the spearhead for the inevitable upcoming battles with the Republic.

The three shuttles hurtled through space toward the disabled Frigate. The Meadow made an inviting target, that was for sure, but it Irked Tycho that his 3rd Platoon was being sent on such an easy mission while other elements of G Company were boarding capital ships and seizing key locations in Mon Calamari's defenses, but he resolved to make up for that fact by executing this mission perfectly.
He looked around at his men. His platoon was 56 men strong. 4 squads of 13 each, with himself and 3 additional men to function as the command element, and in a bind an additional fire team. They had come from a variety of backgrounds, but through months of training they had been molded into a tightly knit fighting force.
His Team in particular was perfect evidence of this fact. He had formerly been a constable and a member of the Tactical Urban Combat unit. Khalon, the heavy-weapons operator, had been a slaver on Tatooine, as well as a Tusken-hunter for The Rugan Turbines Corporation. Shaiko was a former Mandalorian mercenary on Nar Shadaa who had done everything from escort missions to assassinations. Some whispered that he had killed the Senator from Muunilist several years back. His clan had dissolved and he had no home among the clans, so had joined the Sith in search of new brothers-in-arms No one was really sure where Sindai had come from, but the rumor was that he had been a Jedi Padawan but he had killed several of his classmates and fled the order. No one asked him if it was true, and his happy-go-lucky attitude didn’t seem like one of a killer, but those who had seen him in combat knew better. The man was a savage, and though none of them knew for sure if he had force sensitivity, there were times when his feats of strength or agility seemed just a little too impressive to be entirely his own effort. A few years ago Tycho would have hated these men, but now he knew better.
As Raiders they were allowed a certain degree of liberty in their personal armaments. Where normal troops were to use only their issued weapons, the Raiders could choose personal weapons to bring into combat. Their command trusted their experience to allow them to choose the right weapons for the job, and as usual, they had. For this particular engagement Khalon Wielded a heavy repeating blaster in addition to the carbine strapped to his back and his short vibroknife strapped to his boot. Shaiko had his vibrosword across his back and his carbine in his hands. He carried the heaviest explosives in a satchel slung across over his shoulder. Sindai chose to go into battle with a vibroblade and his dual heavy blaster pistols. He had his issued carbine slung across his back, but Tycho had never seen him actually fire the weapon outside of the mandatory exercises on the range during training. Tycho carried his personal pistol; a heavily modified pistol he had claimed from an exchange Vigo he had killed in his constable days. He had his issued carbine, an Arkanian vibroblade and as always, his stun baton. Every member of the platoon carried several different types of grenades, but Tycho made sure to keep a thermal detonator as well, as did many other Raiders. With their eccentric mix of armaments it would be easy to mistake the Raiders as a simple band of pirates or mercenaries if it weren’t for their silver armor and their unit insignia on their left shoulder pad.
The Frigate had been completely disabled. She had lost her shields, her point-defense turrets and her engines. Only basic life support and lighting remained functional. The 140 strong crew of The Meadow were all that stood between the Raiders and control of the ship. They all knew their part. They all knew what to do if any other unit was destroyed or incapacitated. They were the elite, and this was their first chance to prove it. 3rd platoon did not intend to waste it.
Everyone secured their helmets as the light turned green, signaling final approach into the frigates' shuttle bay. The men exchanged final glances and prepped their weapons. They were ready.
Tycho heard the flechet guns on the shuttles fire as they swooped into the shuttle bay, pinning down the republic troops and buying the Raiders precious time to disembark. Shaiko and Sindai jumped out first, landing and rolling as the shuttle hovered several feet above the ground. The pilot had skillfully brought them to within a few meters of a pile of plasteel cylinders that the Sith immediately used for cover. The rest of the Sith disembarked with Shaiko and Sindai covering them and broke up into their squads and fire teams. Tycho and Khalon took up firing positions to cover the withdrawal of the shuttles.
The Ships quickly spun around and flew out of the frigate as quickly as they had come, leaving the Raiders essentially stranded. This had been a part of the plan. Either they would win or they would die. That was the way the Sith operated.
Tycho ducked low as the nearest republic troops in the hangar opened fire. A burst from Khalon's heavy blaster pinned them down and a thermal detonator from Shaiko silenced them for good. All around him the Raiders flew into action. In just over a minute the hangar was secure. The men knew their parts and began branching off into their assault teams before Tycho even had to give the order. He tapped into the platoon comm anyway and gave the assignments. "First Squad, engine rooms. Second to life support. Third with me to the bridge. Fourth to the comms center."
The hatches were locked from the bridge, but several raiders were skilled slicers and within minutes the platoon was pouring through the internal passages of the ship, wreaking havoc as they went.
Third squad split into its various fire teams. The plan was for them to take a two-pronged approach to the bridge and attack it from both sides simultaneously. They had studied the layout of the ship and had various backup routes in case the main path there was blocked off. Tycho had chosen third squad to take the bridge because of their squad leader. Johtos was a beast of a man. Johtos was known to be deadlier then an enraged wookie when angered and Tycho believed the stories. The republic troops were sure to guard the bridge more heavily than the rest of the ship, and while each squad mission was important, capture of the bridge was vital.
Sindai sliced the terminal by the access hatch and Shaiko was the first through the door. A short burst from his carbine killed the first trooper guarding this particular passage, sending the other three scurrying to cover. The rest of the fire team stormed in behind Shaiko with weapons at the ready, sending a torrent of fire down the cramped passageway. Sindai charged forward, his vibroblade in his right hand, a heavy blaster pistol in his left, using the fire laid down by his comrades as cover. A republic trooper took a shot to his arm and stumbled out of cover just as Sindai was reaching their position. He was immediately beheaded by a powerful downward stroke of Sindai's blade. Another tried to bring his rifle up in his defense but Sindai cleverly altered his strike to take off the unfortunate man's fingers. The republic trooper dropped his weapon and screamed for a moment just before Sindai fired two shots into his face. The third dropped his carbine and sprinted down the hallway but Khalon gunned him down before he made it very far.
The team advanced as Tycho listened in on his men's progress. First squad was facing light resistance. That was to be expected, Tycho thought, since the engines were disabled anyway. Second had already made it to life support but were waiting for Tycho's signal to breech. Fourth was still en route to the comms room and experienced sporadic resistance, but it seemed, as Tycho had predicted, the majority of the crew was prepared to defend the Bridge.
As they progressed he got occasional alerts from Johto of enemy contact, but it was always brief shoot outs with few men. As they approached the large blast doors to the bridge Tycho sighed. As expected, the terminal had been blasted out. That meant it was Shaikos time to shine.
"Well Shaiko, what have you got for us today?" He said, knowing his demolitions man would have more then adequate explosives for the task.
"Well Sir, I've got a fun little contraption I rigged up from several plasma grenades. This baby should make a hole big enough for us to rush in two at a time. The heat and light should give us at least a second or two to make it to cover."
"Fantastic" Tycho said, tapping into the comm channel at the same time while Shaiko set to work. "Johtos, what’s the word on your side?"
there was slight static as the squad leader responded; "They forgot to blast our terminal sir. We're set to breech."
Tycho was surprised. That was sloppy of the republic forces, but then again maybe he shouldn’t be surprised. They hadn’t received the same elite training as Tycho and his men, so they couldn’t be expected to prepare for every situation like the Raiders would. "Fantastic" he said again, (his men sometimes referred to him as Lieutenant Fantastic because of his tendency to over-use the term) "Go ahead and breech. We're right behind you."
seconds later they heard the sounds of muffled blaster fire from inside the chamber. With the defenders attention focused on Third squad Tycho gave Shaiko the signal. The fire team averted their eyes as the charge detonated; searing a hole about two meters tall and two meters wide in the hatch. Sindai and Shaiko immediately rushed through the hole, stepping over the charred corpses of two republic crewman who had been unfortunate enough to be caught in the blast. Tycho and Khalon jumped in right after them, firing away into the massed defenders in the large control room. In the confusion, some of them still hadn’t even noticed the new attackers coming from the opposite side, and the Raiders took full advantage of this fact.
Tycho and his men used fire and movement techniques to quickly close the gap and engage the enemy in hand-to-hand combat, where even a normal Sith trooper would have the edge against his republic counterpart. Against the Raiders it was no contest. Khalon laid down a hail of fire while the rest of the team advanced across the bridge and engaged the enemy up close and personal. Tycho spotted Johtos hurling a plasteel crate over his head at two men hiding behind a console, crushing both them and the console beneath its weight. From the corner of his eye he watched Sindai vault another set of consoles and land between two sword-wielding republicans. in a flash of blades the fight was over, both men collapsing in pools of their own blood and clutching wide slashes across their throats.
Tycho had his eyes set on his prize. The captain of The Meadow stood defiantly at the head of the room with his service pistol, snapping off shots at the approaching Raiders. He aimed to take him out personally.
Just before Tycho got into striking range of his target a republic marine stepping in the way to bar his path. The marine was an imposing figure, at least 6 inches taller then Tycho and wielding a force pike. He attacked like lightning, striking out and spinning left and right, leaving Tycho barely able to parry his blows.
The Sith Lieutenant blocked an overhead strike and barely managed to sidestep a low-left stab. He jumped over a leg sweep and struck back with an attack aimed at the shoulders, putting the marine off-balance. Tycho pressed his advantage, pushing the marine back several steps before he re-gained his footing. The tough marine shrugged off a flesh wound Tycho delivered to his hip and leapt forward, hitting Tycho with his shoulder and sending him sprawling to the deck and dropping his vibroblade. He moved to finish his opponent off but Tycho drew and fired his pistol into the marine's neck before the death blow could hit home. The marine immediately collapsed and gargled his last breaths as the blood pooled around him.
Before he could get to his feet Tycho felt someone kick his hand, sending the modified pistol sliding across the bridge. He looked at his new attacker and to his surprise, it was the republic captain.
Tycho spun and kicked at the captain’s feet, but the quick officer sidestepped the attack. Tycho quickly hopped to his feet and took a fighting stance. The captain raised his pistol to fire but at this range there were a thousand ways Tycho knew to disarm a pistol-wielding opponent. He went with a time-tested and proven technique from his constable days, grabbing the man's arm and twisting it up and outward. The hold caused him to drop the pistol, but the captain didn’t intend to go down without a fight. He tried to pull out of the arm-lock but couldn’t overpower the Sith Officer. With his free arm he punched Tycho twice in the kidneys before he could respond, but as the third punch came in Tycho let go of his hold with one arm and caught the balled fist mid-punch and began crushing his fist. There was a look of confusion on the captains face as he struggled to figure out how the Sith could be so easily overpowering him, but it quickly turned to dread when he realized the reason. Tycho's Sith Power Gauntlets hummed into action as he clenched harder on the captains hand, breaking several of the bones. Satisfied that the hand was now useless, Tycho let his grip go and shifted his hand to the Captains neck. Normally a one-handed choke like this wouldn’t be a feasible way of winning a fight, but with power gauntlets it was deadly. The captain futilely swung his broken hand against Tycho's armor with no effect as his throat was crushed and the last little bits of life left his body.
Tycho let the body slump to the floor and surveyed the bridge. All around him Sith Raiders were rounding up surrendering crewmen. His best estimation from what he could see here was 20 dead and 15 captured, but he would get a more accurate count later. Khalon approached his lieutenant, carrying his lost blaster pistol and vibroblade. "Lively one, eh?" He joked as he handed Tycho the retrieved weapons.
"He sure was" Tycho said, "Emphasis on 'was'"
Khalon laughed and sheathed his bloodied vibroknife. "Good one sir. make sure you put it in the after-action report."
Tycho tapped back into comm channel and signaled his squad leaders. "Bridge Secure, no casualties. Squad leaders, Status?"
"Life support secure, two wounded, none dead."
"Engine room Secure, one wounded, no dead."
"Comm Room secure, four wounded, none dead."
Behind his cold Sith mask Tycho was smiling. He couldn’t have asked for a better end to his first outing with the Raiders. "Signal command" he said to Braig, the Fourth Squad Leader. "Meadow Secure, none dead. Raiders Out"

Tycho truthfully did not, but he nodded his head in agreement, knowing better then to press such a sensitive topic.
