News reporters have found themselves on Phaeda more frequently these past months due to the increasing instances of public disturbance. A few weeks ago, planned protests against government spending turned violent, resulting in numerous arrests and injuries. Things on Phaeda seem as though they might worsen before they improve as the war of the rich and powerful continues to engulf the planets on the Outer Rim.
Investigators for INN have uncovered results of a recent survey of unemployment, immigration, crime, government expenditure, homeless population and other related areas. These results indicated that Phaeda is already in an extremely difficult situation and that without any official help from the Senate or the Republic, the situation for the citizens of Phaeda, a planet well known for its wide-range of inhabitants from numerous systems, is only going to worsen.
However, these results have seemingly been ignored by the Republic in the wake of the recent battle on Yaga Minor. A number of the population were evacuated from the planet along with military forces and a significant portion of the refugees have been sent to reside on Phaeda, apparently temporarily, until a more permanent location can be found.
This sudden addition to the population is in no way helping the planetary government to deal with their already substantial concerns at regarding planetary recovery. A formal request for aid has been sent to the Republic, and whilst talks in the Senate started weeks ago, no decision has yet been reached.
