I'm on the Free Trial and considering getting it, It looks awsome and if so i would be a Jedi sided with the Imperials, on the free trial my jedi character is called Rydel Starseeker =D

I played before the CU (Combat upgrade) then after the combat upgrade for around four months, hit Jedi Padawan and then quit before the new class system

a wise decision in my eyes, the whole game is going downhill, further and further, but i have heard from my friend who played on the same server that they might be bringing back a few servers who are strickly CU, but there's nothing for sure. on the other hand alot of old SWG players are waiting for the release of a new MMO called Pirates of the Burning Sea(in Beta) or something like that, but that's a different discussion...

OR you could wait until the perfect the SWGEmu and play on a private server, with all the goodness of all the expansions, but PRE CU!!!

just revisiting some things I remember about this game, I was in my Sorosuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000, a starship you can only get with the Jump to Lightspeed expansion, after you've been a veteran player of over 6 months, which I was, I forgot what planet it was, but I was flying around in it, decided to stop flying, went down to the observation deck, and looked out. I didn't expect it to be there when I stopped, but when I went down there was the most extravagant veiw of a planet if there ever was one. That ship was probably the best thing that I have ever experienced after the NGE.

I play. just cant log on for a while with a pc problem. Im a CL31 Rebel jedi whos played since b4 the CU. I havent had the character that long, just the account. Im on Ahazi and am in a Jedi order called the TJO True Jedi Order (not a guild and we RP in the game)

I used to be a Master Smuggler and Ace pilot, but after the CU and NGE, I became a CL 71 Jedi and Ace pilot... From Naritus.

Is anyone going to join SWGEmu, the emulator? It'll be absolutely free when it's done, and will be pre-CU. Plus some friends of mine are making a RP server, which'll be kickass.

Basically, Star Wars Galaxies came in three releases, ignoring the expansions at the moment. There was pre Combat Upgrade, post Combat Upgrade, and New Game Enhancements. Pre-CU was the best, according to most vets (it really was, as most of the Combat Upgrades made SWG less of its own game and more like others). New Game Enhancements made SWG, which post-CU had been tolerable, unbearable, and nearly every veteran quit.

An independent group, which I think may include an ex-SWG developer, has set to recoding much of SWG in order to start a pre-CU cluster of servers. They even got a team of lawyers to prove that it was legal, which it is as long as they don't charge and violate copyright laws. That is why it HAS to be free. You still have to purchase the actual game, though, but after that there isn't any subscription rate unless you join a server that has a maintenance fee.

The game is Star Wars Galaxies. It's expansion, Jump To Lightspeed (the only one that is pre-CU) is included for free-- SOE did that near the fall of SWG.

I stopped playing after they nerfed my Bounty Hunters and axed our ability to hunt Jedi.

they brought player bounties back now.. its in the form of those people who do PvP..if they die they can place a bounty on the guy who killed him heh.

I used to playit on euro-chimeara.. I RP'ed in SEA guild for a while but they were arse hats.. so i left the game and never looked back

Use to have a 90 Zabrak Jedi with some of the best stuff you could get without being an Elder post NGE. I was fine with the CU, cause thats around the time i started it, but in my opinion the NGE screwed up what use to be an amazing game.

Sony should stick to making electronics

I played since before the CU so I know how this game used to be. Here are the negative parts of the NGE:

- Loss of more than a million people.
- Total unfairness for us veteran players.
- Went from being an adult-oriented strategy game to a sucky kid create-a-god-in-10-minutes game.
- Jedi and BH characters went from more than a years worth of effort to one click with a mouse.
- Wasn't it more fun to gain money and items the hard way?
- How did they apologize to the veteran jedi and BH's? Force cloak, elder status, and 2 or 3 new abilities.

Overall, it sucks. I'm so getting Emu when it comes out. >.>
