Faction Name: Devils of the Abyss
Acronym: DOTA or D.o.t.A

Faction Purpose: The pursuit of a profits, luxury, and freedom from laws via a life of crime, action, and killing. We might get involved with privateering later down the road.

Faction Planet: Ambria[/u]

Financial wealth: I don't know how best to classify their financial stand point. For pirates they're well off since they have a small but growing "front" business corporation, Dynamic Orvax Trade Association. The trade association deals in many kinds of retailing; most notably slavery, spice, ships, weapons, natural resources, and medicine.

Well, since our leader Lord EVAL War Gerbil has been B&, and leadership is being executed by a triumvirate at this point, I'm taking care of the rest of the app. This is MY FIRST faction app, so PLEASE any and all input is appreciated and encouraged. Now, without further adeu, I give thee the rest of the app.

Form Of Government:

Triumvirate.

Why?

Because DOTA has simultaneous activities going on in Space, on Ambria, and throughout the galaxy at various seedy establishments. There is a need to have somebody in a position of authority in all places at once, so they have 3 with absolute power, who specialize in their particular field. The other two can veto one's decision.

History:

DOTA wasn't originally a pirate organization, and as such has decent wealth accumulated from their illegal, illicit and immoral activities.

It was the merging of a small crime syndicate, The Kornai Brotherhood, and a smuggler's ring to for the DOTA. The Kornai was a family run mafioso group that had recently seen the death or capture of the majority of it's leadership in a republic sting operation. They had no real leadership and were at risk of being taken over by the larger, more powerful hutt gangs.

The smuggler's ring, The Devil Dogs ( formed mainly out of disgruntled ex-republic ground troops ) was in dire straights. They'd been boarded one too many times, and needed both money and safe harbor so they could regroup and reform their group into a profitable enterprise again.

The KB and the DD's ran into one and other on Tatooine, for the first time. It wasn't long before the KB realized they could use a reliable band of smugglers, and the DD a reliable source of cashflow, jobs, and connections. After a few inital " trial " jobs, they agreed to merge their enterprises and change to a new name, to rid themselves of their old stigmas.

The name the Devils of the Abyss was chosen, for the, at the time, largely drug smuggling and slave trading group. Over the 20 years that's past since their inception, they've returned to profitability, and have grown far more bold in their stance. They run a pirate ship, The Head Hunter, and have fingers in practically every illegal, illicit and immoral operation they can. From slaving to brothels, drug sales to gun running, they do it all. For a fee, of course.

In the Process KB devested themselves of their largely unprofitable planet side activities, and instead focused on supporting DOTA by creating Dynamic Orvex Trade Association.

DOTA is, as they see it, a mix of a mercenary corporation, a drug cartel, and a pirate alliance. Not overly focused on any particular part, they are more concerned with flying under the radar and reaping in loads of dough.

DOTA's major assets reside on Ambria. It's a backwater, unaligned planet that's seen better days. Their base is located there, in the side of a mountain in the equatorial zone. They also run a front company, the Dynamic Orvax Trade Association.

Dynamic is, for all intents and purposes, legit...ish. They generally move any of their legit cargo with Dynamic, DOTA's stance is " The closer we are to danger, the farther we are from harm. ". Hence they will do semi-legit trade with Dynamic. Guns, Drugs, Ammo, Slaves, anything that's legal outside of republic space they'll trade in quantity.

Currently DOTA is in a stagnant phase. They need to grow their planet side assets, current interests in this regard include Zeltros and Tatooine.
