Part 1: A Noble Beginning
Garen Karos was born in 3625 BBY to a Nabootian Senator and his wife who were on Coruscant, discovered at birth to have a high midi-chlorian count, he was then rushed off to the Jedi Temple to be raised a Jedi. When he turned five, the younglings were meditating, and it was found that he had the potential to learn more advanced force abilities. During his time as an initiate Garen like to spend his time reading books and time with the other initiates in his clan, who looked up to him as a leader of sorts due to his intelligence and charisma.
At nine years old Garen was asleep when a Master Thief was hired to break into the temple and steal an ancient artifact, But when he was on his way out of the temple through the youngling wards, Garen awoke to go to the bathroom and found the man in the hallway, but he was quickly hushed back to sleep and convinced it was dream, and the thief escaped. Garen then fought in the Initiate Tournament, but lost in the final round to an initiate in a different clan who was much more skilled in lightsaber combat, but due to his kind heart, knowledge, leadership, and skill in the force he was still selected, by Zabrak Jedi Knight K’hrall Sathas when he was 12.
Part 2: A Padawan’s Journey
K’hrall took Garen to a crystal cave formation on Dantooine to build his lightsabers, as K'hrall utilized Jar Kai he thought his apprentice should use it to. Entering the cave, Garen went into a trance and found he had built two sabers, one Viridian, one Cyan. From here on out, K’hrall and Garen were sent out to be tactical officers due to Garen’s intelligence and ability to inspire confidence in his troops.
Garen’s first actual combat assignment was when he was 14, on Bfphassi, K’hrall and Garen were hunting Dark Jedi, when Garen came face to face with a Dark Jedi. The Dark Jedi attacked Garen, The battle was short however, because of Garen’s lack of focus on lightsaber combat the Dark Jedi easily bested him. If it wasn’t for K’hrall’s arrival, Garen would have died. After this, Garen practiced his combat, learning Ataru so he would be able to fight with one blade. During his time, Garen came to look upon K’hrall as a father, and became very close with his master
When Garen was 15, he and K’hrall were on Iridonia, a hot spot for fights between rebels and the republic. Garen and his squad were separated and lost in the rebel infested mountains, trekking through the rugged terrain, Garen and his team were eventually found, and they were forced to hole up, with the rebels attacking their positions during the day, So Garen devised a strategy, he had his squad dress the rebel’s dead bodies in their uniforms, and had his squad dress in theirs, they then dragged the bodies to their fox holes, before going into hiding. The next day, rebel troopers came in and discovered their dead “enemies”, Garen then flanked the rebels and captured them. Finally he was able to contact K’hrall, with a captured radio, and he and the troopers and prisoners were airlifted out of there.
On his 17th birthday, Garen, K’hrall and a contingent of Knights and Padawans were sent to the Dagobah system, where a small colony had went dark. Landing on the swamp planet, Garen, K’hrall and the strike team were met with heavy blaster fire from what appeared to be civilian’s, using non-lethal tactic’s they were able to pacify the group of civilians, who had no recollection of the events that had just occurred. A Knight who was near becoming a Master had sensed a dark presence deep in the planets jungle, and recognized that the people had been under the control of a dark jedi, something he had seen before in the Mortex sector. The knights and their padawans split up and searched the small planet for the Dark Jedi responsible. Garen and K’hrall were deep in the swamp when they found a cave, entering it, they were separated in the deep thicket inside the cave, and Garen came face to face with the Dark Jedi. The Dark Jedi attacked Garen while attempting to make him fall to the Dark Side with Dun Moch, but Garen resisted, so the Dark Jedi released a barrage of lightning on him, but Garen was able to leap out of the way before attacking the Dark Jedi while he was incapacitated momentarily from releasing the lightning barrage. K’hrall found Garen by tracking a dark presence, but found Garen, they left the evil cavern, corrupted by the Dark Jedi forever.
While Garen was 18 Master K’hrall decided to take advantage of Garen’s potential and teach him battle meditation. Garen and K’hrall entered many intense Meditation session’s and worked at improving his abilities. At first Garen had trouble with this difficult technique, only being able to hold it on a small group for a small amount of time, over three months this improved a bit to be able to hold it for a longer amount of time. After 10 months of rigorous training, Garen was finally able to get a hang of the ability, at least enough for use, still practicing it every day in hopes to hone his skills.
Garen was 19 when he next faced a force of evil. On the planet Vendaxa, Garen and K’hrall encountered a Dark Jedi Knight training two pupils. K’hrall engaged the Knight, while the two apprentices attacked Garen. Getting forced into the thicket of jungle, Garen did his best against the two opponents, even holding his own, but the two were overwhelming him, Garen’s life was saved however, by a flying predator, that swooped down and grabbed one of the Dark Jedi, Garen then engaged in combat with the apprentice, the battle was hard fought, but Garen pulled through and defeated his opponent.
When Garen was 21, he was on Nar Shadda in a cantina with K’hrall, when he recognized a man, trying to think of where he’d seen the man, Garen realized that his “dream” when he was nine, had not been a dream, when the man saw Garen he instantly recognized him, and ran. Garen chased the man through Nar Shadda on foot and speeder. After loosing and catching up with the man a few times, he finally brought him down, but as he was about to arrest him, he punched Garen in the face, which knocked him out, Garen awoke on a frigate with K’hrall, to whom Garen explained what happened.
Nearing his 23rd birthday, Garen was almost ready to take his trials, but before doing so, Garen went on one last mission with K’hrall. Garen and K’hrall were sent to the Lol system to the planet Majilop in the outer rim, here an ancient temple of the Jal Shey to obtain a Holocron. Entering the forgotten building they found it ransacked, a group of four dark jedi had taken up residence in the temple. Garen and K’hrall attempted to silently steal the Holocron, but were discovered and attacked, One Dark Jedi knight and his apprentice attacked K’hrall one pair attacked Garen. Garen quickly defeated the apprentice with a stab to the gut, but the Knight was much more physically imposing than Garen and used that to his advantage. Garen and the Knight traded blows, and it looked like Garen was winning before the Knight cut his Viridian Lightsaber in half, being forced to use his Shii Cho, which he wasn’t as skilled with, Garen was losing. Finally Garen was able to grab the apprentice’s lightsaber, and go back to Jar Kai, at which point Garen was able to overcome his much more powerful opponent. Garen then retrieved the Viridian crystal from his damage sabre and returned to Coruscant, where he rebuilt his viridian sabre.
Part 3: The Trials
When Garen turned 23, it was decided he was ready to take his trials. Due to his numerous fights with Dark Jedi, he did not have to do his trial of courage. So Garen’s first trial was the trial of Flesh, it was quite simple really, he was given a direct blast of energy, had to withstand it, Garen received the shock on his arm, he smelt his flesh searing, and was barely able to hold in a scream of pain, before focusing on the orders code and reciting it to block the pain, this trial was quite difficult, but Garen passed. His next trial was the Trial of Insight, having to find a thief, Garen had little difficulty with this trial, using his problem solving skills to find the offender.
Garen was then confronted with the trial of skill, he was locked in a room and forced to fight a holoprojectron of the Dark Jedi Karness Murr on a projection of the Valley of Sith Lords. This was a long pressed trial, every time he attempted to use a jedi strategy, Murr beat him down, so Garen started thinking outside the box. As Murr lashed out at Garen, Garen didn't attempt to stop him, instead as he was about to hit Garen, Garen pulled down the architecture and threw chunks of statues and buildings at Murr, before lunging in and slicing the hologram in two
Finally, Garen arrived to the Trial of Spirit, entering a deep trance like state. During this state Garen was confronted by two problems, his inner demons, and his future. Garen awoke in what appeared to be the Senate, Staring at him across the senate floor was a hooded dark jedi. The Dark Jedi attacked Garen, matching him equally. The battle dragged out, Garen and the Dark Jedi switched back and forth from winning and losing, but as Garen lept back the Dark Jedi landed behind him, so Garen rammed his Cyan lightsaber through his chest and into the Dark Jedi’s heart killing him. Garen then pulled off the Dark Jedi’s hood, finding a grey corrupt version of himself smiling back at him, Garen awoke and was barely able to control his horror before calming down and going back to meditating. Garen then reflected on what it meant to be a Jedi and how he wanted to serve the order. During this meditation, Garen decided that he would become a Jedi Sentinel, believing that he should be well practiced in both areas of Jedi ability, during this time, he really thought about if he really wanted to be a Jedi and to make those sacrifices, Garen decided that someone had to make those sacrifices, and since he had already been trained “why not?” Garen then awoke from his meditation, he was then knighted, and Garen Karos became a Jedi Sentinel.
When he was 24, Garen chose an apprentice in human girl Myri Vandreen
RP Sample:“Umm hello madam, My name is Garen Karos”, Garen said in a kind tone before reaching out to shake the Kiffar dock worker’s hand. The dock worker looked up and spoke without shaking his hand “Hello sir what may I do for you”, Garen pulled his hand away before speaking, “I need the records of all the ships that have landed in this hangar for the past three days,” Garen said while forming a small weak smile. “I’m sorry sir under company policy I cannot do that,” she said in a cold tone. “Oh ok,” Garen turned and started to walk away, but quickly turned back, “I must say, your eyes are very pretty” Garen said to the Kiffar dock worker. “Oh my... thank you,” she said as she blushed and smiled a bit. “And you have such a pretty smile, ” Garen said. “Oh know your just teasing me”, she giggled. “It’s hard to believe no man’s has taken you beautiful hand”. “Well no one has ever said such nice things to little old me” she said. “Well If I was your husband I’d treat you like a goddess”, Garen smiled. The Kiffar worker giggled “Your so sweet, why can’t other men be like you?” she asked. “Can’t say I know why Miss…”. “Seela Artel, now sorry what was it that you needed again sug”, she asked in sweeter tone. “Docking records for the past three days”, Garen said with a bigger smile on his face. “Just don’t tell my boss sug,” she said before Garen handed her his Datapad to download the information. “Here you are, come see me anytime you like sweetie, I‘ll show you a good time”, she said as she handed the datapad to Garen. “Thank you miss,” Garen pulled out his datapad and walked back to his docked starfighter.
