1. Always help those in need!
2. Family and Kin first!
3. Always hold dignity and pride in what you do.
In Feran culture, disobeying one of these laws may get you exiled from the pod, having to fend for yourself against the vicious predators in the vast sea of Serai. Many Feran's are completely devoted to their religion, and will uphold it even in the most daring of times. Their sense of compassion has gained them an important part as doctors and scientists within the Republic. There sense of family and kin first has lead them to getting big contracts, allowing them to build a sizable defense fleet using their seaborne shipyards. There vast dignity and pride makes them very hard workers at their task, often resulting in more than expected results.
History: Feran history is filled with much conflict but at the end...peace.
The Sea:
In the beginning, Serai's core was filled with water, tectonic plates in it's mantle began to move, causing cracks, in which water rose to fill, but spilled out onto the dry barren landscape. Soon, bacteria began to evolve into microscopic lifeforms, which eventually spanned out into a sentient race of Delphinus creatures. They are believed to have began as a race of Dolphin like creatures hunting in pods and feeding on the rich abundance of fish. They feared the Sea because of the dangerous predators in it. "The Sea was the dreaded blue hue always above us and below us."-Feran storyteller. They thought the sea was endless on their planet, until coral began to form, and their sentience grew until they were intelligent enough to begin a civilization and build a religion.
Early Civilization:
Following the new Feran religion, the Feran's created a council of high elders, in which they would decide to exile a non believer, or simply kill him so they couldn't do any damage to their religion. Eventually, the people of Serai were outraged at a new Feran leader elected who seemingly had a grudge against the territories of Shets'vai, one of the major figureheads on Serai. This newcomer, whose names have been erased from the holobooks and forbidden to say, assembled an army of Feran's to fight for control of the council. This war lasted a full decade, but this newcomer's forces were victorious, leaving a shattered council in it's wake. With the council out of the way, this newcomer began forming an Empire, dreaming of controlling Serai and beyond.
Democracy Takes Over:
After 100 years of tyrannic rule, the son of the Emperor was coming to power, and was sloppy, deciding to leave his army equipped with the simple coral armor used in the old days instead of upgrading them to the new metals that Feran scientists were finding beneath the coral. Sensing weakness, a young Feran named Ui'van, began an underground movement named "The Council", and started taking action against the Feran Empire. At first, people were relaxed at these seemingly pests, and simply thought that their Emperor had everything under control. But all is not as it seemed, as the Empire was fighting a losing war by sabotage, espionage, bribery. When the public began hearing the stories, they freaked, some joined the movement themselves, while others began abandoning jobs, and quitting the army, leaving only the Emperor's personal guard left to deal with the growing threat. "For years, the sea ran red with blood"- Feran script. Realizing the end was near, the Emperor committed suicide as the Palace began getting breached. Seeing how the people had betrayed their religion shattered them, and they gladly supported the idea of a new Council.
Reformation and Unity:
The Council's first actions were to unify the remaining stray Kingdoms and unite them. Finding out that a new council was made, these Kingdoms joined without hesitation. The Next step was education and healthcare. Setting up universities and schools, they began the slow rebuilding process of the Feran people, after the ravaging wars that had destroyed the Economy, the Education, the Healthcare, and the Research. The council, now fully reformed, devoted a full three territories on Researching the new minerals found underneath certain Coral beds. There technology skyrocketed when they found out the malleability of the metals, equipping their soldiers with iron armor and gold flipper gear. Then, an elderly Feran scientist discovered a cure for the Tyug, a disease that had plagued their civilization for decades. The Council, delighted by the news, assigned the territories Iil and Jol to be the prime Scientific branches. "It seemed as if the world was coming together finally"-Feran storyteller. Finally, the economy was solved when they discovered how nice Gold looks sitting around their dens, and the territory Monv got all that money.
The Coral and Discovery:
The Feran people were celebrating their first century of peace when the Council's den was destroyed by a Waterspout raging across the Sea. Hurrying to find somewhere to go with their young, the Council choose a Coral spire extending high into the water, nearly touching the surface. A young Feran Ty'ran, suggested that every territory have a Coral Spire in which the leading dynasty could reside in. The idea was popular, until the Council put it in motion. At this time, a Republic Ship discovered Serai. Going out in pressure suits, the crew found the Feran people, who called them the "people in shining armor and bubbles". They met with the lead Council member who managed to communicate with the Duros crew through writing and body language. Realizing what they've missed and the technology they haven't discovered, the Council eagerly accepted the application to join the Galactic Republic. The Chancellor at that time realized the strategic importance of Serai, being just at the edge of the Mid Rim, it would allow Republic law to extend into the Outer Rim by using Serai as a base. Giving the Feran's simple plans, they designed a ship that was as rugged and durable as they named it, the Praetorian class Frigate. With much help from other Republic shipyards, the Feran's used the abundance of Coral to hollow it out and use it as a shipyard, while using metal from the sea floor to be used in the hulls. Using the three rules of their religion, they were able to make alot of credits, help the Outer Rim, and make a basis for the eventual Hammerhead class cruiser. Feran society has changed little since the reintroduction of the Sith Empire, remaining an important base of the Republic, but also a close kept secret.
